Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains ambient music (and upbeat electronic songs) heavily inspired by Kristoffer Rygg and the music of Ulver. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
Great vid. This song makes me feel like I'm lost in some old silent movie or something, maybe even something like Dark City at times. Strange what songs make you feel and think
If i could find this album in any stores i'd own it by now i just want to say that. I love the mix of experimental ambient, trip hop, and pop (yes pop very melodic parts but definately not jonas brothers or backstreet boys) on this album. It mixes together so much stuff i didn't think i'd like
C'est juste.... Puissant ? Non mais, elle est courte, mais... WOW ! On s'en prend plein la tronche en juste 4 minutes de musique, quoi. Et quand le "refrain" arrive..... Waw.... On vole, en fait. on VEUT voler, du moins, quand on entend ça.
My friend told me that blackmetal couldn't be born anywhere outside Scandinavia because only there it is so dark and cold throughout the whole year that everybody's always pissed off and gloomy.
your friend isnt really right, in other northern countries like the baltic states, northern russia and probably canada it's about just as gloomy and cold as in scandinavia.
@aryman79 in britain it rains almost all year even when we are told itll be sunny and we have an unstable government, and a huge christian population, so surely black metal can be made here, well i know it can be im in a black metal band.
You always notice with so many metal bands there's this group of fans who hate them for changing? Ulver, Anathema, Opeth, Tiamat, (anyone want to add?)
I will say it's meritted to hate Tiamat's Skelliton Skellitron, Judas Christ, Prey and whatever the hell their new album is called. But I'm talking about the ones who hate Wildhoney and stuff.
I always find it amusing how quickly and blindly bmfanboys get behind Ulver and other Norwegian pioneers just to satisfy the status quo.Though remarkable in the context of its own time those albums that "started it all" are in fact garbage by today's standards. Ulver's early work is pretentious and unmemorable. They have since learned the value of making actual music rather than just colorful sound for spoiled kids with too big of allowances. 1 1.-Eerie cold track 1 Molded tasteless stereotypes!
You're an arrogant fuck. Ulver's early work might have been simple and of rubbish quality. But the music is stuffed with feelings, just like it is today. What the fuck do you know about me, and other people listening to old school bm? Just stfu.
Okey, you obviously have some problems in your life, as you bash randoms at internet for their taste in music. You know nothing of my life, nor my taste in music, so please stop commenting it. I got offended because you hold prejudices against me because of what nation I'm born into. Yes, there are a lot of spoiled teenagers around here, but that doesn't make me one. Some black metal, like old ulver, gave me a lot in some specific parts of my life and therefore still means a lot to me.
@doshinheretic ummmmm sorry mate I hate to tell you black metal is'nt really that mainstream, apart from dimmu borgir and also spoilt children come from all over coutries with a decent or high economy, especially the USA. Your the only person being stereotypical here, I have you know i listen to EVERYTHING all kinds of metal, rock, rap, hip-hop, drum and bass, r&b, classical, jazz, blues and loads more.
I do not agree with you there doshinheretic. Simply put I just listen to whatever I like to or feel to. Sometimes I listen to Augustus Pablo's dub reggae, sometimes death & black metal (anything from Abigor to Xasthur and back), sometimes Chopin's piano works, sometimes Foo Fighters. I don't think it's about "to satisfy the status quo" but only to satisfy my moods and feelings. Such borders and margins you are drawing are rather silly and pathetic. Are you trying to prove something for yaself?
wtf, ur telling me that old school norwegian black metal was targetted to rich, spoiled teens, much like the Jonas Brothers???? omfg, I feel as if I am talking to a person with down syndrome or something. Are you delussional or just straight up retarded??? i'd like to think both. u know NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING of music except of course, the fuckin'g Jonas Brothers.
Wow; that was almost as groundbreaking as your last post. Norway is the spoiled teenager capital of the world with Sweden being a close second. Many of the albums which you probably own were simply made to help define what is cool. And here you are sucking it off and defending it. The only difference between Mayhem and the Jonas brothers in the context of satisfying the stuck up fanboy status quo is the clothes worn by the assholes buying it. Even Fenriz acknowledges how their opinions defined
Oh, and where are you from that's so great? You obviously don't know anything about Norway, Sweden or music in general. So shut up and go flip more burgers. Your tirades are asinine and irrelevant.
Wow; I'm really surprised how many pussies there are in Norway. Its almost surprising how easily offended you lifemetaling bmfanboys are for being "true" motherfuckers. Every BM documentary starts out explaining that Norway is the richest country in the world and has a surplus of whiny spoiled bitch ass pretend to be "True" wish were cooler than though BM fanboys. If my comments are untrue and irrelevant then why are so many of you gutless closet metal retards so fucking offended by them then?
I wouldn't calla BM documentary very accurate on any subject other than BM for starters. People film what they want to film and can portray whatever they wish to others. Whether they buy that or not is up to the viewers. I wouldn't say anybody here is really offended. Most of the people who have posted here see mto not be from Norway. And at that, why do YOU care so much about any of this to begin with? Whos who? and Whats what? Does it really matter?
This is not just norway. THeres "truekids" all over the world. and then you have those who dont give a shit what others mean and listen to whatever you want, like myself, in norway, and all over the world.
Ya, but one of the best parts of Ulver is their diversity, and while Nattens Madrigal, Bergtatt, etc. was godly, we should allow ourselves to enjoy their new masterpieces equally as much.
Ulver is and will always be one of a kind. I wish Ulver could make a balance between nightmarish sounding music and that very calming, surreal, dream-like music. I know Ulver has a dark side; Garm has been in Arcturus for Christ's sakes. xDD
And at last, but not least: those who like old ulver and don't like this...those people don't know what is music. They don't know black metal, and they don't know this style.
And, those who understand this music, those who feel what it is about, can't listen to it for eternity. Because their mind would collapse, or they'd kill themselves.
