there's a mistake. apart from everon...malden and kolgujev exist for real...yeah kolgujev near western russia and malden in micronesia so..not so close to each other...but it's not that fictional at all
@clayton99master The thing that made OPF atmosphere so special was the coloring of the game. It was all grey and dark, gave you a feeling of no hope. ArmA is too cheerful in its colors for my liking.
Thanks for putting the original OPF music on here. I for one have never moved on. I still love the music, the landscapes, and the game. That game game has touched my soul. This songs brings back memories and the landscapes of Everon and Malden. Anyone know if this music is available on mp3?
@horlur you're right ! i played operation flashpoint since i got it to this moment and i still play with it it's really great game , well ofp still the awesome game 4 ever =D
And what's even better Bohemia re-released those now in ARMA X Anniverary package (also includes both ARMAs and all ARMA2 expansions), and renamed original Flashpoint and Resistance to ARMA: Cold War Assault and ARMA: Resistance (since Codemasters own the rights to name of Flashpoint) Im defiantiely going to buy that sooner or later, its now only availabe to buy digitally from their webpage, but I still hope they release physical version of it as well.
@kuznjecov Indeed fellow soldier, indeed. Well for me the best PC game, actually THE best game over all is Warcraft III, but original Flashpoint and it's expansions are still those kind of games I would give full 10/10....and believe me, in my personal list there are not many that kind of games.
And this is just brings so many great memories from almost 10 years ago....man I miss those days, and I cant even say how many times I played trough CWR and it's expansions.
This ist THE game making war-games playable. No WWII-shit, no political direction in any case.
The cold war, a war that didn't exist (couldn't be named as a war). A terrain that didn't exist. Just a fictional story. But everything makes sense, seems to be real, even if it's fictional - IT DOESEN'T MATTER.
- 2 hits by a ak47 ... and you're gone
- 300meter-sprints - you even nearly collaps
- living as a soldier in a war you don't understand...
This song brings back memories from when i was a 8-13 year old. To be honest -I've never experienced a modern game like Call Of Duty or so who could beat Flashpoint in gameplay. I don't care if the graphics weren't that good, it was the atmosphere in the game which was awesome. This game is by far the BEST game I've ever played, and ever going to play. Nothing beats Flashpoint's epic music, editors and gameplay! I think i will re-install it now! By the way - Fuck the guy who disliked this!!!!!!!
@vallefradk I too played Flashpoint when I was about 13 years old...and I just cant understand the complaining that it's command menus were difficult to use...hell If I could use them easily when I was only 13, how hard it can be....
Even 10 years after it's release Operation Flashpoint:CWR (now renamed ARMA: Cold War Assault by Bohemia) along with it's expansions continues to be the BEST war-game ever made, and for me the only game that beats it in my list is Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and TFT
2 -"soldier is history" 4-"T-72 is history" 5-"T-80 is history" 1-"3 report status" 1-"Oh no! 3 is down" 2-"6 is down" 2-"2 injured" 1-"2 move to soldier 6 o'clock" 1-"2 is down"
can someone tellme how to get these soundtracks and musics i buyed the game in 2000 and music in game impressed me so much and now i would like to downloadsoundtracks but i dont know where from XD
@mawrow1995 its easy, check any of fan websites and download a software to unpack music files from the game its been a long time since i did it but i think softwares name was OFP Decryptor and OFP Cryptor...one was for unpacking other for packing not sure anymore though..try it
@Rubberduckyofdoomy i finished it today on veteran ( full game ) damn it was hard..ye the mission editor is even nicer, you can make the same campaign version but i lil bit diffrence, soo nice :D
Brings back great memories. Was the best time of my life, and I used to play this for hours. Hardest action game I ever played, but nice story and tons of fun. I'm not playing shooters that much anymore, but if they ever make an OFP 3, in wish Bohemia is the one this time. Imho ArmA series or Dragon Rising were not as cool as the Original OFP.
@vespertilio260 Sadly, that's not very likely to happen, since BIS don't know the copyright for the "Operation Flashpoint" name anymore. That's why they developed their OFP sequels under a substitute title in the first place.
Ahhh, I remember when "modern war" meant big tank battles in Germany and NATO and Soviet navies fighting for control over the North Atlantic....OFP is probably one of the last games to be set in a "good" era.
I kinda feel sorry for nowadays kids which are being fed by run-and-gun-and-for-god's-sake-dont-use-brains games. We had great time with this game and sometimes we play our editor-created missions with friends even now. This game is not just a game, it's a masterpiece! :)
@Milanwhatever oh yes i mean back in the day the online for thius game mixed with map editing..you had get a life style modes rp and wars i mean this game was a big deal when TEAMPLAY was brought into it. everybody on the game online took a part and role and they all stuck to it the pilot was a pilot nobody argued nobody shot them they then took another role. you had medics who would heal and your pilot would save you in the thick of a firefight this game...it was not a game it was a way of life

im with you xd gastovski missions are cool but scary i mean the mission when u must steal the document fro the launch area..xd one question: why did NATO get of everon when we took over montignac...thx for reply
This game showed what war really was. It showed the true reality of war, unlike the call of duty rubbish which promotes war like it's something "fun" and easy to accomplish. Well it isn't guys, and that's why I reccomend people to play operation flashpoint.
Doing those missions with Gastovski ducking near Russian Tanks were scary as it is. Now Imagine the spec-ops that have to do such things in real life!!
@zordon9 im with you xd gastovski missions are cool but scary i mean the mission when u must steal the document fro the launch area..xd one question: why did NATO get of everon when we took over montignac...thx for reply
OK who here got too scared to go into the firefights and after you though you got a kill stood far behind their comrades in hope that they would do the mission with little help from you?
For everyone that think I am a pussy. I was 11, I was not ready to fight a war!
This probably my favourite OFP songs (one of my favourites full stop). It plays on the mission when you are evacuating the island in the trucks. The music really sets the scene. Epic.
This is my favourite from the Operation Flashpoint soundtrack. Really great game, we still play it and support it and make campaigns from it and make missions from it... we will never forget this game. This song brings back so many memories as i played this in younger age...
@spaska12 Agreed =). It's really a shame that they dont make games like original Flashpoint these days, not even Bohemia whit ArmAs or Codemasters whit Dragon Rising for that matter. And it's just sad that arcade shooters like Modern Hypeware get all the praise these days, but you rarely hear or see anyone mention Operation Flashpoint as one of the best games of all time. Sure OFP was never intended for "casual" players, but still...I loved this game back in 2001 and I still do.
@Balnazzardi. Partly agreed. I love ArmA 2, it really does the trick bringing back the old flashpoint action. Codemasters sucks ass with their Fake "Operation Flashpoint" 2 Dragon Rising title, it's a disgrace for the original Flashpoint. But I think that ArmA 2 is almost as good as Flashpoint.
@Balnazzardi Me to. It's great game, one of the best at all times and a music is so so exelent :) :) :)
James Gastovvski is exelent. "Where is Tracker got to" lol " Keep your eyes peeld for comies" ha ha ha good old times. Have sixteenth when played this at 2001/2002 and still play it
god damn it... I started playing that when I was 7-8... now I'm 17 and I STILL LOVE THAT GAME! it doesn't matter how good are video textures etc. That is HISTORY/LEGEND ... that's really enjoying that game, being that David Armstrong ...
This is Armstrong, I'm lonely, come in, over . papa bear, this is alpha! come in! Damn is radio...
@yannick0108 ok you gotta make them move to a position by waypoints then go to advanced or something on the waypoints screen and look for music and click on the music you want :D
i still play tis game lan with my bro dad friend and his bro i always play a transport chopper and come and save the day shooting bmps and stuff on this song i remember me playing this while i was 6 and it was soooo big!!!
Thanks for the comments :). I noticed some people were interested in the names of the composers, so here they are: "Ondrej Matejka", "Seventh", "Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov". Greetz.
i played this game when i was 5 my dad and my uncle always played it first time i played it was in multipalyer i drove a tank : ( i wish this game stil lhad lots of people on it
the first time when i saw OFP was at my brothers place, he was playing the demo, ambush mission. I was around 12 and i remember how i was blasted away by the fact that i could go anywhere and do whatever id like to do without limit. I`ve played OFP since that day till now. Great game, and the music brings out memories 8). Only 1 month left till the release of the OFP succesor Arma 2, cant wait!!!
This is still my favourite game of all time, first played a pirated version when I was 12 in 2001, good times.. don't think i've ever been as excited over a computer game until I wrote my first script for this which put units in the back of a truck lol
I remember first renting OFP Elite and playing it for so many hours! I actually accidentally found out about the PC version when I was looking up cheats, then I was urged to get a PC. Man if it wasn't for OFP I wouldn't have learned about PC's and built my own gaming rig. The game is a work of art, you can't help but play it for hours. Downloading more and more addons. Creating missions and movies, or just plain screwing around.
pc games like this never get notoriety as console games it's a shame that so many people never heard of this game the best war game ever made at my advice
It's not underrated, it's just niche. It was critically acclaimed and loved by the majority of people who played it, but the fact is it's not a mainstream game, so a lot of people never did hear of it or play it.
They should put it on Steam, I think. It's a great experience even today, and I'd recommend it to a lot of people if they could buy it easily from Steam rather than have to search for it on eBay or Amazon.
United States vs. Soviet Union = best game ever. It was just an epic battle the entire time. ArmA was good and the campaign was alright but OFP had the best stuff.
Which was quite idiotic assault when you think about it afterwards,
There is an enemy unit holding a defensive position in town. What do we do? Infantry runs in an assault line over 500 meters of clear terrain while armored vehicles drive on the road, only to be ambushed inside the city.
Gee, wonder if it had bee too much trouble to have the infantry attack them from the forest to the rigth and take advantage of tanks firepower from the distance... Oh well. Fun nevertheless...

Thanks for the comments :). I noticed some people were interested in the names of the composers, so here they are: "Ondrej Matejka", "Seventh", "Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov". Greetz.

the first time when i saw OFP was at my brothers place, he was playing the demo, ambush mission. I was around 12 and i remember how i was blasted away by the fact that i could go anywhere and do whatever id like to do without limit. I`ve played OFP since that day till now. Great game, and the music brings out memories 8). Only 1 month left till the release of the OFP succesor Arma 2, cant wait!!!
dago00 2 years ago
Cheers mate ;). Ive played OPF heavily myself ;). Cant wait till ARMA 2 comes out, will be great fun!

This is still my favourite game of all time, first played a pirated version when I was 12 in 2001, good times.. don't think i've ever been as excited over a computer game until I wrote my first script for this which put units in the back of a truck lol
FUKKAKE 2 years ago 2
I remember first renting OFP Elite and playing it for so many hours! I actually accidentally found out about the PC version when I was looking up cheats, then I was urged to get a PC. Man if it wasn't for OFP I wouldn't have learned about PC's and built my own gaming rig. The game is a work of art, you can't help but play it for hours. Downloading more and more addons. Creating missions and movies, or just plain screwing around.

pc games like this never get notoriety as console games it's a shame that so many people never heard of this game the best war game ever made at my advice
vaffammokk187 2 years ago 9
@vaffammokk187 i agree if you truly want to get a taste of war play operation flashpoint
jak795 1 year ago
Man, this game is sooooooooo Underrated.
blackmask100 3 years ago 6
It's not underrated, it's just niche. It was critically acclaimed and loved by the majority of people who played it, but the fact is it's not a mainstream game, so a lot of people never did hear of it or play it.
They should put it on Steam, I think. It's a great experience even today, and I'd recommend it to a lot of people if they could buy it easily from Steam rather than have to search for it on eBay or Amazon.
MattyDienhoff 3 years ago 3
United States vs. Soviet Union = best game ever. It was just an epic battle the entire time. ArmA was good and the campaign was alright but OFP had the best stuff.

i remember hearing this when you 1st in the truck on the way to that town, my god those were the days!
glenakatsr 3 years ago
Which was quite idiotic assault when you think about it afterwards,
There is an enemy unit holding a defensive position in town. What do we do? Infantry runs in an assault line over 500 meters of clear terrain while armored vehicles drive on the road, only to be ambushed inside the city.
Gee, wonder if it had bee too much trouble to have the infantry attack them from the forest to the rigth and take advantage of tanks firepower from the distance... Oh well. Fun nevertheless...

sadly enough it happens all the time these days in Iraq and Afghanistan.
