@TheLeigh777 Opteka does make lens for it, but I'm not sure about that particular lens w/ or w/o an adapter. This video shows that lens on FH1 Dual Cam:
watch?v=RuJ0eqA93Mc you could them if they are using an adapter! :D
Make a test video about how well it makes video in day light outdoor, night time or in the dark, shaking and taking picture please for viewers.I like the best color of all camcorders it have.
@fantasiimensch I just looked at a web site and that Raynox 303 is for the Sanyo TH1, not FH1. Which has a smaller threaded filter fitting than the FH1's standard (Sony 37mm) threaded lens & filter fitting. That's part of the camera itself. So that one won't work. Sorry!
@fantasiimensch I just searched it out too. The qc 303 is too small for the aperature of the lens to get a complete field of view, even if it fit the fh1's lens thread. I like the idea of a quick mount better though. Maybe Raynox with bring one out for FH1!
Hey do you have any idea how to convert long videos (sunsets, etc.) but only save one frame every 10 seconds or so? I have entire days worth of videos that I want to use for short time-lapse videos, but they're .mts so I need to convert them to actually edit them.
Now seeing as it converts at about 10fps, it'll take about 6 times 20 hours just to convert them! I need to find a way around that, lol.
The 10 times optical zoom lens it comes with, should be fine. If you need more macro than what you see here, you can pick up a Wide angle (close ups) or Fisheye lens attachments.
If you have a need for longer focal length (for distant objects) then there are Telephoto len adapters available for this camera. The stock lens is great quality and fits the general purpose requirements of a most Wedding shoots! :D
Majority of wide screen monitors will display FULL 1080p. Because their highest resolution or definition will most likely be 1920x1200. But most computer monitors and displays at this resolution will have black bars on the bottom and top. So if you are looking to buy a new monitor, that is what you would be looking for. That it was at least capable of displaying 1920x1200 resolution.
1080P (1920x1080) is more of a standard pixel size for HDTV's in today's market! :D
Well it's not a "Red One Pro" cam, but it's great quality at it's native bit rate, 1080p 60fps. But no one supports that on line.
When I play the 720p 30fps down conversion, and then the native file on my 65" HDTV there is a dramatic difference in detail, color and no stutter whatsoever! :D
But yeah soon, I'm going to put up a 1080p video I took flying in a small plane. When we landed, we had a flat tire & almost ended up off the runway! lol... very windy too!
Hi there. You seem to actually know about cameras, so I'd like to ask you a few questions. I've been looking at this camera (now at ~$400) and apart from the image stabilization, what else is wrong with it?
Low light quality seems great - didn't see any bad noise at all, macro looks great, focusing is great too, high FPS shooting sounds great.
How are the manual controls? Is it easy to focus manually when trying to shoot a movie? Can you adjust the ISO and shutter speed easily?
@iSOBigD. Unfortunately those are a few of my main gripes; ease of accessibility for the manual controls. You can utilize thumbpad shortcuts; however, you can't manually focus while shooting video. The autofocus works awesome for 90% of normal situations except, naturally, close angle in very low light (ex. very low light room or 15 minutes before/after sunrise/sunset). There are also times when i want to have control over going from normal focus to a nice bokeh pop effect within the same clip.
I can't do that either. I have to stop recording and manually set everything upthe way i want or just go to super macro mode which achieves decent bokeh effects in close angle fairly easily. Other than that, for the vast majority of situations it works far better than expected for a $400 camera. I'd still highly recommend it for the price. Given some time in working with it, like every camera, you can find ways around or ways to utilize its negative quirks to your advantage.
Fuck. =\ The main thing I want in a new HD camera is manual focus using easy controls so I can make actual movies. The video quality on many cameras between $400 and $5000 is almost identical outside of low-light conditions and those more expensive cameras don't have high fps shooting either.
The HF S10 seems to have what I want, but it's more than double the cost! Also, no slow-motion videos. It really seems to not have any improvements really that's why I don't want to pay that much.
Thanks a lot for your help though. You've made my tough decision even tougher! I've looked at tons of cameras for the past couple of months and this one was the best by far in terms of features for the price.
@iSOBigD keep an eye out for JVC and Panasonic. I do believe they will be coming out with some similarly priced 1080p 60fps cameras early to middle of this year. JVC is a technology parter with Sanyo. They will likely come onto the market with a more refined camera than the current Sanyo Xacti line, with manual features and and better low light quality. In fact most of the manufacturers will probably try to compete this year. Sanyo kind of took everyone by surprise last year with these cameras.
CG10 = 720P It's true res is much lower. Especially in camera mode. If you use that full fake 10mp mode you have worthless crap pics.Video = only 30fps, no good for slow mo & other FX's the FH1 is capable of. The 5x Opt zoom is worthless.
@JohnF30Music Your footage looks nice but the camera's specs are definitely not on par with this one (especially the 240 progressive fps) or with the Sony one I bought (HDR-XR500V). Mine records at 1080i unfortunately so it only goes up to 120p fps at 720x480 and 60i at 1080, but the macro's very good and it has a manual focus button, which is the main reason I bought it, and a 120GB hdd.
@JohnF30Music Actually I may get a CG10 for taking underwater vids & pics. But the cheapest I've seen them go for is around $170 and I got my FH1 for $400, so barely 2 1/4 CG10's!
If I hadn't bought my FH1 I would not be into the Final 8 of YobiPics Photo Contest either. W/ a chance to win $10,000, a trip to N.Y.C. for 2 and a $1000 camera shopping spree! :D
All Sanyo cameras are under rated to me. They're all far more advanced than any competition for the money. Pistol grip cams are Great!
@kroneage For the price, the FH1 is by far the best camera. I spent a couple of months comparing cameras online and it's definitely awesome. My budget was $1000 and I even considered buying it as a second camcorder, but the lack of a hard drive and manus focus while shooting killed it for me. (I wanted to be able to make proper movies as well)
total clarity..HD at its best. Love this footage. The outdoors sounds are simply amazing. the richness in these colours say so much...Thank you , thank you.
Thalysia? ....where you been girl? :D Go Yobi. tv and get in the contest. Well they have to be original songs, but with talent, you can do it. Last year the winner was from Austrailia w/ $15,000 prize and trip to Grammy Awards in America! :D
Haha! I didn't see that until I just watched it again..I'm seriously considering buying this camera but am worried about editing issues at 1080p 60fps, from what I've been reading, PC wise all editing software (premiere, vegas, pinnacle etc) have a lot of trouble coping with it. I downloaded some raw 1080p 60fps footage and it plays fine on my PC (in zoom player of all things) but VLC and WMP didn't wat to know. Vegas 9.0 trial version had the footage jumping and skipping like a little girl.
Sony Vegas even has problems with their own inferior AVCHD! haha....
What's going to happen once they move it to 1080P 60fps? I have had very few problems and my AVCHD files give me far more headaches than any Apple supported format like MP4. The only competitor out hardware wise, is Canon's Mk-5 mega dollar camera/camcorder and Red One's latest Full HD mini cam at 5 times the price!
I was using an AMD 64 3200+ w/ 1gig ram with no problems in Nero Vision and Sony Vegas. But I recently went to Newegg and picked up a combo motherboard, memory, processor upgrade to now a AMD Phenom II x4 Quad 3000, 4gig fast ram, and Biostar motherboard for around $200. It's blazing fast with Sabayon Linux (with Pro Tools), Win XP and Windows 7 on Tri-bootable Operating Systems! :D
did you save the film before you put it on youtube as some high quality thing? or is this purely just the camera? cuz some youtube videos show this camera not having such good quality, but other vidoes, like yours, shows that it has great quality.
Quality macro here and the 8MB pics are outstanding. I'm competing in both video & photo contests now. In Photos, am now a semi-finalist for $10,000 prize.
My neighbor has a CANON MK 5 & it compares in quality. Which costs 7 times what this VPC-FH1 does. Nothing else out compares to this & it's cousin the VPC-2000. For less than a $100 more the 2000 has a slightly larger lens 40.5mm compared to 37mm of FH1 & Sony HD cam, etc.
It also has a hot shoe & external mic input to top it off! :D
Yeah.... I didn't even see that spider when I was filming. Amazing what we miss w/o Superman's eyes or a microscope.... argh But I didn't even know a bug ...er spider could turn white! :P
