This is an incredible video and I can attest to Simon Kogan being "the real deal" sculptor. I've never seen anyone handle and manipulate clay like he does. I was fortunate to take a workshop from him and was awe struck by his sculpting talents. What a treat to see this sculpture come to life and be able to play and study it again and again. Bravo, Simon. Encore!!
This is true art. He isn't making a photocopy of the model, but creating something new inspired by the model. It is the difference between an artist and an artisan.
Watch as Simon Kogan uses his fingers, plus two simple tools to tease the face and character of Joe Brecha out of a lump of clay. It took many hours, great patience and fine honed observation to create this bust, but when Kogan finishes, and Brecha poses alongside, there is no doubt whose likeness lies within. None of us knows our our own face as well as Kogan comes to know every bump on Brecha's nose, or every hair on the back of his neck. This is a remarkable demonstration of skill and talent.
love the music, very relaxing and heart warming.

Could you sculpt something with a smooth finish (in the manner of Bernini say) if you wanted to?
