  • i miss those smooth mellow tone cats like this brother here

  • Too bad this mother isn't 14 minutes long! God damn, baby.

  • What a voice and he thanked Jesus! I'll see you when I get there JGW!!!!!!

  • god damn this is funky. It's a damn shame it has only a few views. The world would be a better place if everyone got funky once in a while.

  • @YusefDeeb69 true

  • Thanks So Much for uploading my favorite track of JGW;-) I thought ppl forgot about this tune. This track is so smooth you have to play it loud in High Def Surround Sound, It will turn you out! 1:28-1:39....Sexy. JGW is the best, period!

  • The Father of Funk he is

  • This is my favorite slow song of his--so far, I'm a Watson novice at best, but great song no matter what.

  • @kaihcret just as long as you've taken the first step to Watsonism. It's a necessary path for a funky soul

  • Chuck Brown certainly gives Johnny lots of credit. He was one of the sources for the published, imperfect Johnny Guitar Watson biography.

  • SMOOTH! IT IS.

  • why does the pic never stay still/clear, annoying

  • @TheRyanKitto LolL, who stares at a non interactive photo? Just look away.

  • @TheRyanKitto That's the spirit of Johnny Watson playing the song for you.

  • Reminds me a little of Bob James' Nautilus. With lyrics. Same spacey organ vibes.

  • The cd-info mentions "Frampton/Watson recorded 1978". Johnny wrote 99% of his stuff. Who wrote it isn't really interesting. The sound is great and Johnny made it his own. Sad that he didn't met the right persons or producers after his interesting DJM period.

  • Bobby Womack: "Music-wise, he (Johnny Guitar Watson) was the most dangerous gunslinger out there. Even when others made a lot of noise in the charts - I'm thinking of Sly Stone or George Clinton - you know they'd studied Johnny's stage style and listened very carefully to Johnny's grooves."

  • @angelseye2000

it's several other artists who studied Johnny and won't give him credit....D.C.'s Chuck brown being one of them. The guy is a complete hack of Johnny in my opinion

  • I wonder if Johnny got paid for this or even proper credit, cause the initial chords were used on Frampton's tune. CAn someone verify which was first?

  • might be a similar situation to the Steve Miller (Gangster of Love)..listen to the first four bars on the guitar lick of "Rock Me Baby" by Steve Miller and "Lover Jones by JGW..u be the judge..

JGW was problably one of the original "ghost writers" of his time..

Bobby Womack also has similar cases as well..

  • Guitar is tipping his hat to Frampton with his version, which wasn't recorded until later in the '70's. . .I want to say 1978, and Watson credits Frampton duly as co-writer.

  • Sounds like Peter Frampton's Do you Feel like I do.

  • Sounds like Sly. Great track. I wish we would have heard more of this stuff of him. Real cool from mister cool himself. Mister Johnny Guitar Watson. Man was he cool or what. I still miss him....

  • totally sounds like sly, doesn't it?

the changes for sure, and to me as if johnny is doing an impression, vocal-wise

peter frampton and johnny guitar watson were hanging out with sly around the time i think this was recorded...

  • this is awesome!

  • beatiful
