This theme is EPIC! Boy, Pokemon Company can be really bad in some of the things they've produced, but then again, they've put out some good stuff, too.
@barduk4 the anime NOW is childish, and even more than childish,it was not like this , but banning episodes and cutting lots of scenes force the pokemon creators to do this to avoid any future banning of episodes -__-
@ivantuga2 no of you watched the first seasons NOW and then watch a new season,you will find big difference,I don't mean it was for adult but it was an anime for all ages, and the proof is that there was many edits and deleted scenes in the dub in the first seasons but now there is no any dub edits,they even draw women now without boobs!!
@alypkm That was more around the first half of Kanto. I'll give you that there were lots of things that don't appear in later regions, but the show still had a lot of it going for kids. The producers were just experimenting with the format of the show.

Pokémon was a new thing altogether,that's why people were interested in seeing it.It's not like there weren't aesops and lessons told by the narrator at the end of the episodes, there clearly were.I can remember many childish episodes from Kanto-OI.
You talk about May and Dawn,they're DIFFERENT girls. Besides,Iris has a superiority complex with Ash. The Pokémon designs were ALWAYS for kids. It's common sense.

If expanding the universe of Pokémon to species resembling "cute" animals is "childish design" for you, then you're hopeless.

Point is, I see all the generations' Pokémon and some are based off rats, others off cats, the others off squirels, deers, machines, etc. THAT's the basic difference between the species and Pokémon, nothing else.
Womens have no boobs now? Yes, they have: I remember in an episode them showing a close-up of Jenny's many times. Also, Team Galactic's womans.
@alypkm Regarding deleted scenes, it's 4Kids who tried to dumb down the show and it had an effect on the japanese production. Recent edits? NO NEED TO EDIT, there's one Giovanni's fantasy in early Sinnoh that got cut.
About Ash, it's called character development. He's much more mature now than in Kanto. See how he gradually changed from region to region. In Johto he was a slight rookie and when he found Gary there, he was acting more calm already. That carried on to the next regions.
