I liked this ending a lot. Setsuka is quite a character. I loved her in SCIII, in SCIV, she was okay but I hated her "Mary Poppins" look. -__- And I already know why they skimped out her original outfit to show more boob. Her traditional geisha look was much more cool in my opinion.

I like this ending better, it's happier, and who doesn't like a happy ending? Haha, but Setsuka's story is just like the main character in the movie Lady Snowblood. They both are seeking revenge for the death of a loved one, and they even have the same weapon. xD

I'll bet after this, the girl wanted to be Setsuka's servant and student...like Moon from the movie 'Hero'. It'd be cool if she and Setsuka traveled together to help others who had a thirst for vengeance...like them.
This ending must take place after Mitsurugi's - it features two characters from it, and it is in the same place (yes, I know about four characters have ending in this location.)

We just have to accept that all the characters in Soul Calibur are all psychotics. It makes the story much easier to follow.
Well... some aren't psychotics, but are just slow in the head. Xianghua, for instance. Ever heard her talk? Clearly Ancient Ming did not have a working special education system.

No...it is completely unknown where either was born. And no one even Knows where Tira was raised. We only know that she was a mercenary in the Bird of Passage which, if I remember correctly, is a European clan.
If it was done right....But I have a feeling they would use the wrong characters, or have it be totally off the mark on what a SC movie should be like....
Right. But you don't normally see a movie based off a video game done right that often....Look at Mario, Street Fighter, Double Dragon, etc etc etc....

They were actually going to make it into a movie years ago but they didn't,and they even opened a website several years later announcing it again,but still nothing has come from it

Well, I thought that a long time ago because I recently got the game and hadn't really tried her out but now I like her alot. And she is by no means the hardest to master. The hardest to master is Yoshimitsu.
yeah , the guy she was gonna kill was the guy that tried to kill HER in mitsurugi's ending ... maybe that's why she want's revenge , for making her a hostage
I don't know what Setsuka's ethnicity is (doesn't matter to me, she's beautiful whatever it is) but I think the most rational possibilities would be Russian, Tatar or possibly Ainu (the aboriginal people of Japan). Though I'm not sure about the last one because Japanese people know what Ainus look like. I think those are the most possible ethnicities because those are ethnic groups geographically closest to Japan.
She's Japanese nationality-wise but the Soul Calibur character profiles state that her facial features are non-Japanese, she's considered unusually tall in Japan for a woman, and her skin is considered a foreign kind of pale shade. That's why her teacher named her "Setsuka" ("Snow Flower") because her skin was paler than Japaense people's skin. It also states that she was subjected to abuse and ridicule as a child for apparently being foreign. Her homeland is listed as "Unknown".
Yeah, I know and that's the difficult part. lol I looked at the scene of her background to make a guess. If you noticed, the background is the same as Taki's and Mitsurugi's. But that's the only thing you can go off.

I just read her extended bio which includes her motive in SCIV. She is again hunting Mitsurugi, but realises that in order to beat him she must hone her skills to a level that surpasses even her master's. One line reads "her violent slashes reach a god-like speed". Clearly she's even faster in SCIV. Hopefully she'll have a good few more long range attacks, I thought her moveset was a bit limited.
fighting mitsurugi was one of the hardest battles i have ever fought...dude whi is he so fuking strong...i got beat 38 times...but i had no problem at the other battles
why does she say: "what ARE you intending to do with that?" i guess nothing, thinking bout the fact THAT is in the water and the guy she was going to attack with THAT is gone allready... maybe just say "what were you intending do with that?"
Dunno why ppl are -'ing u for saying the english voice overs are lacking. TBH I cant stand the english voice overs either, they are horriblly lacking and dun do the characters justice. Ivy and Mitsu are the worst examples, i wanna gouge out my eyes and rip my ears off when i hear the actor/actress TRY to act out the lines. Soul Reaver/Metal Gear are an example of awesome english voice overs, Soul Cal or any other fighting for that matter are a shame and should never happen.

I don't think she's going to be in SC 4... thankfully lol. It didn't seem like she really had a purpose in the grand scheme of the game.. I guess that's just my opinion though.
Very few of the characters have a purpose in the grand scheme of the game. Her storyline was not connected to the Soul Swords but that's not a reason to leave her out. Her weapon and her style were really interesting and I had some extremely enjoyable fights against Mitsurugi with her. She's a great character.
Well, a lot of the other characters' stories coincided with each other, even if they weren't necessary after Soul Edge/Calibur. But, from what I read, it just seems like Setsuka's got nothing to do with anybody or anything. Again.. my perspective. Maybe I'm biased 'cause I didn't her as a character lol.
I think I read that they're debating including her in SC 4, but I haven't seen her or heard about her anywhere.
From what you read...so you haven't played through her story? Basically she's seeking revenge against Mitsurugi for killing her former master and lover. The kimono she wears is a mourning dress. Her story is quite poetic and sad.
Downside is that considering she achieved her revenge against Mitsurugi she doesn't really have another goal to bring her into SC4, unless they contrive something that's not related to her previous story at all. Perhaps she could become an assassin.
If Mitsurugi is in SC4, then I think she should be in it too still seeking revenge. Right? Thanks for explaining the story thou. I haven't played this game much. Only once.
I'm hoping Namco will be more definitive regarding her ambiguous origins and explaining lines such as "Fear me, for I am a demon!" etc. That's really the only possibility they could go with her story-wise in SC IV IMO. I do hope she has SOMETHING to do with one of the swords too; as a few people have mentioned here most characters are more extraneous than not regarding the main plot of the game, but Setsuka is easily the most extraneous, as her storyline is completely defined by Mitsurugi.
Well there's not much ambiguity in her appearance since she has blonde hair and blue eyes this time. I personally don't mind the fact that her story doesn't relate to the swords. I always prefered the human drama in the game to the mystical mumbo-jumbo. I think the line "Fear me, for I am a demon!" is just a dramatic way of saying "out of my way, I'm a bitch!". I don't think it requires any further explaination.
I think it'd be cool if she became a hired assassin, or something edgy.
Within her profile there's a lot of implicit info that she might be inhuman, as she was found in Japan and raised by her mother normally there, but her appearance was obviously much more Caucasian than conventionally Japanese, and even then, it was rather unique looking due to the exceptional pale pallor of her skin. Having "demon" be a euphemism for "bitch" might be possible but I think there's something deeper there coupled with the aforementioned extant.
I think what her bio mentioned was that the native Japanese people viewed her as "inhuman" because of her foreign appearance. There's alot of different sources, but her bio on Wiki suggests that the ambiguity is down to the indecisiveness of the designers. Originally she was supposed to have blue eyes, but in SC III they made them hazel. Coupled with her brown hair it wasn't quite clear what race she belonged to, so that's why they changed it dramatically in SCIV. She's no demon.
So is it possible that her father is Caucasian and her mother is Japanese? Have you seen her new look in Soul Calibur 4? She has blond hair, blue eyes and pale white skin
Well, if you consider that a half cast child with Asian and Caucasian parents will generally always resemble the Asian side having brown, almond shaped eyes and dark hair I'd be more inclined to believe that Setsuka, with her blonde hair and round blue eyes, was born solely of Caucasian descent and then orphaned. Maybe her parents were killed...
Yeah, but her first costume is the one everybody knows the best, because it's in the promotional art.
I just watched a clip of Setsuka fighting against Hilde. Her English voice actress is even crapper than her one in SCIII, but I guess the lines don't help; "Wither and DIE!!". It sounds so cheesy. I'm definitely switching it to Japanese.
I saw another clip showing her 2nd costume. It's horrible. They put her in a Victorian dress and a top hat. She looks like she's going to the races.
i am switching them on japanese anyways... i don't even want to see the other costume. i have never really thought so much about the hair colors, as they always seem to be a bit out of range
Actually I need to correct myself. After watching a new video about the character customization posted by Gamer dee, it seems that you have the option off customizing the canon characters much like in Tekken 6. The clip I saw was obviously a customized version of Setsuka's outfit, probably to fit with the Victorian parasol sword, Ridicule. I'm guessing, and hoping, that you will also be able to give her the samurai outfit she had in SCIII.
Yeah, I saw a vid listing all the 2p costumes and Setsuka's awful Emily Dickinson style ensemble was included.
However, the good news is that each character has a customizable slot where you can apparantly dress them in whatever you want. I saw a clip of Taki wearing Altair style garb, complete with cloak and hood, and another of Mitsurugi wearing a frilled shirt. So I'm sure we'll be able to dress Setsuka in more suitable attire.
Yeah, you can also change Gender :) Like... You can make a male Taki... Or a female Siegfried. You can make them evil, or good, or whatever you fancy. The bad news is..
...You cant do it to Yoda or The Secret Apprentice, or even Vader if you're a ps3 man.... *Tear* I was so looking forward to making a midget that could leap around like a bitch... =[
Not necessarily the case. There are actually quite a few people of different races who have blue eyes, although very rare. There are even people of African descent who have pale blue eyes. The color of you eyes and the color of your skin and hair have little to do with each other genetically.
Setsuka's all extravagantly dressed and no one else is, I get a kick out of that.

I don't know what Setsuka's ethnicity is (doesn't matter to me, she's beautiful whatever it is) but I think the most rational possibilities would be Russian, Tatar or possibly Ainu (the aboriginal people of Japan). Though I'm not sure about the last one because Japanese people know what Ainus look like. I think those are the most possible ethnicities because those are ethnic groups geographically closest to Japan.

She's Japanese nationality-wise but the Soul Calibur character profiles state that her facial features are non-Japanese, she's considered unusually tall in Japan for a woman, and her skin is considered a foreign kind of pale shade. That's why her teacher named her "Setsuka" ("Snow Flower") because her skin was paler than Japaense people's skin. It also states that she was subjected to abuse and ridicule as a child for apparently being foreign. Her homeland is listed as "Unknown".

Yeah, I know and that's the difficult part. lol I looked at the scene of her background to make a guess. If you noticed, the background is the same as Taki's and Mitsurugi's. But that's the only thing you can go off.

Interesting note: that girl with the knife, she can be made in create a soul mode. She's made completely of CAS parts. Intersting ^_^

I just read her extended bio which includes her motive in SCIV. She is again hunting Mitsurugi, but realises that in order to beat him she must hone her skills to a level that surpasses even her master's. One line reads "her violent slashes reach a god-like speed". Clearly she's even faster in SCIV. Hopefully she'll have a good few more long range attacks, I thought her moveset was a bit limited.

fighting mitsurugi was one of the hardest battles i have ever fought...dude whi is he so fuking strong...i got beat 38 times...but i had no problem at the other battles

mitsurugi only took ten times with me but it took me 54 timesto beat Setsuka because she string combos that wouldn't let me move at all.

Dunno why ppl are -'ing u for saying the english voice overs are lacking. TBH I cant stand the english voice overs either, they are horriblly lacking and dun do the characters justice. Ivy and Mitsu are the worst examples, i wanna gouge out my eyes and rip my ears off when i hear the actor/actress TRY to act out the lines. Soul Reaver/Metal Gear are an example of awesome english voice overs, Soul Cal or any other fighting for that matter are a shame and should never happen.

I don't think she's going to be in SC 4... thankfully lol. It didn't seem like she really had a purpose in the grand scheme of the game.. I guess that's just my opinion though.

Very few of the characters have a purpose in the grand scheme of the game. Her storyline was not connected to the Soul Swords but that's not a reason to leave her out. Her weapon and her style were really interesting and I had some extremely enjoyable fights against Mitsurugi with her. She's a great character.

Well, a lot of the other characters' stories coincided with each other, even if they weren't necessary after Soul Edge/Calibur. But, from what I read, it just seems like Setsuka's got nothing to do with anybody or anything. Again.. my perspective. Maybe I'm biased 'cause I didn't her as a character lol.
I think I read that they're debating including her in SC 4, but I haven't seen her or heard about her anywhere.

From what you read...so you haven't played through her story? Basically she's seeking revenge against Mitsurugi for killing her former master and lover. The kimono she wears is a mourning dress. Her story is quite poetic and sad.
Downside is that considering she achieved her revenge against Mitsurugi she doesn't really have another goal to bring her into SC4, unless they contrive something that's not related to her previous story at all. Perhaps she could become an assassin.

I'm hoping Namco will be more definitive regarding her ambiguous origins and explaining lines such as "Fear me, for I am a demon!" etc. That's really the only possibility they could go with her story-wise in SC IV IMO. I do hope she has SOMETHING to do with one of the swords too; as a few people have mentioned here most characters are more extraneous than not regarding the main plot of the game, but Setsuka is easily the most extraneous, as her storyline is completely defined by Mitsurugi.

Well there's not much ambiguity in her appearance since she has blonde hair and blue eyes this time. I personally don't mind the fact that her story doesn't relate to the swords. I always prefered the human drama in the game to the mystical mumbo-jumbo. I think the line "Fear me, for I am a demon!" is just a dramatic way of saying "out of my way, I'm a bitch!". I don't think it requires any further explaination.
I think it'd be cool if she became a hired assassin, or something edgy.

Within her profile there's a lot of implicit info that she might be inhuman, as she was found in Japan and raised by her mother normally there, but her appearance was obviously much more Caucasian than conventionally Japanese, and even then, it was rather unique looking due to the exceptional pale pallor of her skin. Having "demon" be a euphemism for "bitch" might be possible but I think there's something deeper there coupled with the aforementioned extant.

I think what her bio mentioned was that the native Japanese people viewed her as "inhuman" because of her foreign appearance. There's alot of different sources, but her bio on Wiki suggests that the ambiguity is down to the indecisiveness of the designers. Originally she was supposed to have blue eyes, but in SC III they made them hazel. Coupled with her brown hair it wasn't quite clear what race she belonged to, so that's why they changed it dramatically in SCIV. She's no demon.

Well, if you consider that a half cast child with Asian and Caucasian parents will generally always resemble the Asian side having brown, almond shaped eyes and dark hair I'd be more inclined to believe that Setsuka, with her blonde hair and round blue eyes, was born solely of Caucasian descent and then orphaned. Maybe her parents were killed...

Yeah, but her first costume is the one everybody knows the best, because it's in the promotional art.
I just watched a clip of Setsuka fighting against Hilde. Her English voice actress is even crapper than her one in SCIII, but I guess the lines don't help; "Wither and DIE!!". It sounds so cheesy. I'm definitely switching it to Japanese.
I saw another clip showing her 2nd costume. It's horrible. They put her in a Victorian dress and a top hat. She looks like she's going to the races.

Actually I need to correct myself. After watching a new video about the character customization posted by Gamer dee, it seems that you have the option off customizing the canon characters much like in Tekken 6. The clip I saw was obviously a customized version of Setsuka's outfit, probably to fit with the Victorian parasol sword, Ridicule. I'm guessing, and hoping, that you will also be able to give her the samurai outfit she had in SCIII.

Setsuka isn't remotely Asian to my knowledge, she was raised in Japan, but she is stated to be of Caucasian blood.

Yeah, I saw a vid listing all the 2p costumes and Setsuka's awful Emily Dickinson style ensemble was included.
However, the good news is that each character has a customizable slot where you can apparantly dress them in whatever you want. I saw a clip of Taki wearing Altair style garb, complete with cloak and hood, and another of Mitsurugi wearing a frilled shirt. So I'm sure we'll be able to dress Setsuka in more suitable attire.

Not necessarily the case. There are actually quite a few people of different races who have blue eyes, although very rare. There are even people of African descent who have pale blue eyes. The color of you eyes and the color of your skin and hair have little to do with each other genetically.
