  • she was trying so hard to not step on that dismount

  • powerful.

  • i know everyone always lauds her pak salto and dismount but I find her geinger equally amazing.

  • gave me the chills. favorite gymnast of ALL time. have always looked up to her.

  • score?

  • @abercrombierox3

    9.812

  • ESTA TIPA ES LO MAS GRANDE QUE VI EN LA VIDA! LA ADMIRO MUCHO!

  • she does the best pak salto ever

  • Somebody hit the dislike button once. I really think that it is accidental, because otherwise it is insane.

  • she does that dismount the best. nowadays its performed more like a full twisting layout/pike

  • Texas has the best of everything.

  • She was incredible in this routine. I especially like the way she sprang from the lower bar to the higher, not once but twice. Very cute, and, well, I just like that. And unless I am greatly mistaken, so does God Himself. No apologies for telling the Truth!

  • Did you see how fast she was on the lower bar ? Not once but twice ? I really feared for her well-being in those moments, even thought I knew that this event occurred almost 14 years ago. I could never risk life and limb like that. This was a jaw-dropper the first time I saw it, and still is.

  • even from her pak salto in this routine you could tell that in the future she would have major problems with it cuz her shoulders are a bit over the bar.

  • Every time I watch footage from this competition I get chills :]

  • What was her score?

  • Jeez, that Pak Salto was so high. I loved her Shaposhnikova into Pak Salto.

  • thts amazing tht she can do tht wen she was just 14. its awesome. n ive actually met her a couple times.

  • does it count off if u windmile your arms around lke that/

  • as long as her feet don't move, it counts.

  • She was the " Chosen one" , she had " it" , as the documentary says. I think she would have been the greates next to Nadia.

  • I love that dismount, does anyone know how hard it is,what difficulty its worth?

  • It's an E element. Moceanu does it perfectly!

  • It is an E, a full twisting double layout.

  • full twisting double layout. no idea what difficulty is worth

  • I love the fighting for the dismount at the end. The balance check was a possible deduction, a step or a hop is a guaranteed .1 or more.

  • She is soooo tiny that she needs to bounce of the low bar to get up on the high bar and she can swing without bending her body! I wish nastia could do that! :)

  • Incredible, I've never seen anyone toss a Pak salto that high.

And she didn't stick the dismount, you can see her right foot shuffle as she landed, but she fought so hard not to take a step. Great job!

  • Nice dismount.

  • she was amazing! my favorite gymnast! so energetic and tight!

  • omg Dominique is so good she's my idol!!! what was the score she got on this??

  • 9.812.she probably got half a tenth deducted for the balance check on her dismount

  • awesome stick on the landing :)

  • you're stupid.

even if alicia wouldnt have fallen, the USA still wouldnt have won, shawn and nastia screw up on floor too, and they were too far behind China.

The only way they could have won is if China hadnt cheated.

Alicia handled that performance in the best possible way and she deserves some respect.

I doubt you even know the first thing about gymnastics so STFU.

  • what was the score?

  • TONS of amplitude! It is amazing how much power she had for being so tiny. I wish her career had lasted longer. She'll always be one of my all time faves!

  • how old did u need to be to compeat back then

  • fourteen

  • oh ok thanks :)

  • TONS of natural swing. awesome!

  • Dude... for being so small, she could really fly on bars.

  • Yea well the little nothing? Um i heard of her before i heard of maxy7792

  • what the fuck is that suppposed to mean, i was just saying, dominique isent a little nothing ( as in fricken skiny you jackass) but i couldnt excpect you to comprehend something that simple.. asshole

  • wow not what he meant dont put comments like that it just makes you look stupid...

  • can you stop trash talking me your stupid saying i look stupid because your stupid

  • wow u relly need a life no ones trash talking u just tellin u to stop doing it im not even gunna bother talkin to u no more

  • haha did that comment annoy you my demented friend wrote that. and you should stop trash talking me it is unfair and not nice

  • god for the hundreth (third) time im not trash talking u daym :) and tell ur demented friend to get a liyfe (now thats trash talking...sorta)

  • haha i do agree that my friend is demented no offense taken lol

  • k then :)

    lol

  • so we are cool then

    ?? =)

  • sure why not lol its your demented friend im mad at remember? :)

  • yeah my friend doesnt care hse is used to it

  • yeah im sure with his aditude he is used to it lol

  • you bet i slapped him across the face when i saw what he did, i yelled YOU MORON and then kicked him out of my house, he is such an idot

  • haha poor guy :)

well i cant feel bad for him

  • One of the best full-twisting double layouts I've ever seen.

  • I agree. It was done with the same sort of technique that Mohini Bhardwaj did it with at the '04 Olympics with the arching out at the end. Great Job!

  • wow that was nice lol i feel bad though cus she jumped on her landing :( what did she get on the bars?

  • I believe it was a 9.812.

  • That is probably the most amazing amplitude I have ever seen in a routine.

  • What's your basis for comparison? Domi was good was she wasn;t exceptional. For the most amazing amplitude look at the Chinese. Start with Mo Huilan.

  • I did.

You wasted my time. It still stands that I haven't seen anyone manage to fly like she could. She wasn't as good on bars as Huilan but in terms of flight and amplitude she outclasses anyone I've seen.

  • Have a look at your darling Domi when she's a few years older.... you'll see how she continued to out class everyone..... or maybe not!

  • Actually Domi doesn't even make my top 20 favorite gymnasts. So for her her time in her prime-bracket. She certainly had some amazing amplitude. ;]

  • I agree. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I was watching this routine. Her speed and amplitude were incredible. I guess it helps when your tiny like her lol.

  • Her size and body shape made her a good bar worker when little. :)

Lol, I almost wrote 'good bark worker'

  • No one cares about you either you stupid cunt.

  • In that COP landing with ones chest low would have been a deduction, but dropping it to correct was a "judgement call". In fact, fighting for the landing is often considered commendable by judges. I presume they didn't want to over-score her for (blank) reasons.

  • that was probably the most beautifully executed full twisting double layout I have ever seen.

  • hey shes from my hometown!

  • Me too!

  • one of belas favorite and mines too :p

  • god im turned on.. :]

  • SHE HELD THAT DISMOUNT! she didn't even move her legs at all! WOW!

  • bela had said once upon a time that she reminded him of Nadia...considering her interviews nowadays...i believe! I miss you Miss D!!

  • Yeah, the dismount rules!! Even when she had to struggle to keep her balance even looked cool. I always loved gymnastics, well watching it, growing up. My opinion on athletes in general have been elevated. I just appreciate what they do more then I used to. It's amazing

  • very good

  • out of the magnificent 7 she is my favorite

  • Best bar routine of her career and she hit it at the olympics for the team! Dominique should be so proud of this one!

  • I love the transitions from low to high they're reminiscent of the old-fashioned uneven bars.

  • that seemed really short to me, compared to bar routines now...but idk

  • I think her bar routine may have been short because bars wasn't quite "one of her events" apparently, so Bela probably didn't want to keep her on there for too long.

  • I LOVED that beginning thing she did from the bars, a girl in my gymnastics can do that and she is only LVL.10 and going to nationals

  • she is AMAZING!! oh my gosh!!

  • A 9.812 is a damn good score considering the people she was up against. It makes me wonder what she would have gotten if she had stuck the landing completely clean.

  • That dismount is so badass.

  • what was the minimum age you could be at this olympics? it obviousley changed..

  • I believe it was 14 years of age, but I could be wrong. Nowadays, you have to turn 16 by the time the Olympic year rolls around.

  • Yeah, you had to at least turn 15 in the Olympic year (Domi's birthday was on Sept. 30, making her 15 in 1996) but now you have to turn 16 in the Olympic year.

  • bec

  • anyone know the score?

  • 9.812

  • WOW her amplitude.... shes got so much power she justs fliesssss

  • AAHHHH SO FANTASTIC!!!

  • what was her score??

  • Does that landing get the same grade than if she had landed it completely clean and not fight to keep the stick?

  • i think so. i dont know about back then in optionals but one of the coaches at our gym said if you do 3 "arm swing" tofight the step that its the same deduction as taking a step.

man. bella must have been happy with her that day.

  • who is her coach here...is it bella or mary lee? cause mary lee comes in to spot her and i know somewhere along the lines she went to mary lee but i thought she was with bella at the olympics

  • well bella couldnt cuz he wasnt the olypic coach at that time

  • bella was her coach, but mary lee was the floor coach at the olympics so she does the spotting and everything. bela had to stay back behind the scenes.

  • did bella coach her after 97?

  • no he retired from the sport. she bounced around, finally finding someone in 98 that helped her win the goodwill games and then she eventually went to mary lee tracy who had her on the right track for the 2000 olympics but she got injured.

  • o. then .. didnt he come back 2 help coach the 00' olympic team? i think domie would have been better of w/ him as her coach. she said so herself in her book that she thought he was the only one that could coach her and give her what she wasnted something like that.

  • yes he came back but only to coach the olympic team, so he didn't coach anyone individually.

  • he must have liked 2 c her train.

  • wait...thats not the first full in double layout dismount off uneven bars...look up Mohini Bhardwaj in 1995 on uneven bars and she does the full in double layout dismount to...

  • that was a rele good routine...she is SO fun 2 watch!!!

    WHOAH!lol

  • Certainly one of her best routines ever on possibly her weakest event. If she was only 14 here, then imagine what she could have been doing 4 years later if she hadn't have had all the injuries and personal struggles and would have been able to train normally.

  • awesome routine....great diffuculty

  • that is so gutsy to unvail a new dismount at the olympics but that routine was amazing. awesome form and crazy difficulty. i love seeing girls hit handstand back then..it just makes everything look nicer.

  • She is by far one the best swinger I've ever seen. She got so much momentum.

  • Actually her Bars as I have heard were NOT her best event.

  • Okay. I'm just saying though that her giant swings were amazingly swift.

  • Though I agree they are kick ***! The shorter you are, the quicker it usually is. No fear of hitting the bar like Khorki! lol

  • i think its cuz shes so short.

  • i think it was beam. sfter all she was the beam silver medalist at the 96 worlds.

  • What was her score?

  • Her score on this was a 9.812.

  • haha

    nice stick on the dismount...lol
