  • Poslednji boem :)

  • I feel an affinity with Buk,i found we both share a mutal love for alcohol & and i've grown up living in in the same household as a drunk (yes my mother is an alcoholic,Not that she would ever admit it so there is the first sign folks.)so i guess i've had some experience in the field when it comes to drink even though im not a full on alcoholic myself i've always been a borderline-alcoholic. Oh did i mention i love Buks writings also? Genius!

  • Well he's convinced me. I'm off to the pub to shake this hangover.

  • @yodaone902

    well put my friend.

at the end of the day, if he couldn't write, I wouldn't pay attention to him. The world is full of drunks that are boring and have no talent.

  • I hate drunks but somehow this guy gets too me...I understand him.

  • I cant take the 'great' poets i'm supposed to like seriously as they are so disconnected from me - this guy i get.

  • "Greatest drunks of all time" Great tribute! I like his writing.

  • In a couple of years, we´ll all be dead. Why bother? He´s got a point...

  • cant help but to drink a bottle of wine while i watch this....

  • great biography

  • Charles Bukowski taught me to Pee in the sink

  • “Boring damned people. All over the earth. Propagating more boring damned people. What a horror show. The earth swarmed with them.”

  • BITTERSWEET...

  • it woulda been awesome having got drunk with this character. at least once.

  • with his family and utterly traumatic upbringing it's no wonder he needed to get so shitfaced. I enjoy reading his books, preferably with a couple of beers on the side, but there is nothing more sad and hopeless than substance abuse. BUK was living proof of that.

Also: didn't hear shit of what he said with that Mediocre Mouse-song playing, write subtitles or put the words in the description.

  • Bukowski's drinking sobered him up so he could face all the liars and hypocrites honestly, with compassion.

  • There is nothing original here. Drunks are drunks, which I don't criticize, BUT, so many drunks think that the 'shit' that they offer is brillant, but in most cases it's just a lot of boring shit! I owned a bar, I dealt many times with guys like Charles, some were smart, some were actually genius, but few were happy. The life of booze leads to depression and disappointment, it's chemical. BUT, sometimes, it's the only thing that gets you through the night.
  • @fntime

You're not really saying anything here, either, other than you used to own a bar, and nobody cares about that.

  • @EaterOfHumanFlesh Your mother cared, how do you think you were born, son! She said you were dumb, she was also, but I didn't believe her. She wanted me to pay for medical care for you, but I said,' let him be a clown he's stupid, vapid and unoriginal'. How about Junior, I call you clowny. Your destiny is in Sarasota or if you are not ready for prime time, you could be a dunking clown at the carnival. "Now go home and get your fuckin' shine box!"
  • @fntime Well, that's one man's humble opinion.

  • @fntime fuck off nigger!

  • post office is funny as hell, i'd recommend it.

  • i'm drinking now

  • You have my soul, and I have your money.

  • You have my soul, and I have your money.

  • You have my soul and I have your money.

  • There's more to Bukowski than beer. There's many drunks, and He just so happend to be the best of them all. His writing was absolutely wonderful. Like he didn't leave anything out. I totally respect him.

  • Hilarious story about his English class cameo. I would be honoured if Bukowski had puked at my campus.

  • what song is this and by who?

  • @bobbyhurly24

Modest mouse, not sure of the title, but I know Bukowski is in it somewhere

  • @bobbyhurly24 Bukowski by Modest Mouse

  • God, who'd want to be Isaac Brock?

  • @Oceanmachine27 Only Isaac.. he himself is a genius like Sir Charles

  • @azurenscens That is beautiful. I'm feeling you on every word here, it's so true. I'm there right now!

  • Shame such a bozo, there aint nuthin romantic about puking your guts out.

  • The guy is just so REAL. No one else comes close.

  • thx so much for this JesseEgan ♥

  • my hero,idol,and much more.love you hank,rest in peace.

  • I only met Buk twice and he wrote a poem about me. It's in _You Get So Alone Sometimes it just Makes Sense_. It's titled "Ol' Al" and the first line is: "Every woman he meets is crazy . . ."

  • this man... I read post office and factotum in one day

  • amazing creature.brilliant mind.

  • what a fucking great man

  • Comment removed

  • I`m just gettin`into Bukowski, and I see that a lot of people here call him Hank. How`s that? Is it a nickname or what?

  • It's because in some books he's his alter ego. I recommend you Ham on rye, I think it's his best novel.

  • Ok, I have just started on "Post Office" and saw there too that Henry Chinanski is called Hank, so I kinda figured it then. Anyway, thanks for the answer and the recommendation.

  • @victorbite Yeah, I read all of them and Ham on Rye was a true masterpiece, one of the best novel ever.

  • i love Hank, he's such a dirty man but i would of fucked the shit out him in his fithy LA hotel room in 1967. "like a flower in the rain"- Post office and Love is a Dog From Hell.. GREATNESS, he's buried in my city

  • Great man. Horrible song. Just horrible.

  • what modest mouse song is this

  • It's called Bukowski. Lol.

  • you know, it wasnt his life that inspired "factotum", it was his book, "factotum". the book is based on his life though.

  • @lillogambino

of course its cool and funny when your young but a person alcohol use morphs with them as they age, it becomes sinister and necessery, and if thats not cool and funny then im fuckd.

  • Straight to the point poetry and prose.....That what makes it such a glory to read.....!Long live the legend of Bukowski!

  • i went to the park not to see the trees or lakes but to drink and puke to drink and puke is the best thing its like injecting poison and taking an antidote a fine line like someone putting out the flimsy reed i don't want or need it i just want to lie down and faze in and out of this deep sleep.
  • @scullysedge

I sit wondering what kind of pussy a man must be, what must go through a grown mans mind, to kiss the ass and pay tribute to his favorite idol, by means of imitation.Personally I love bukowski's work.but I would never try to imitate it with a cheap frame as you have. Starving has very little to do with hunger, drinking has very littly to do with being drunk. it's why.and you have no why..no sincerity.i leave more worthy hunks of shit stuck to my toilet.than your poetry leaves me

  • Imitation? not at all, all art is plagurism..you should look further and discover who actually wrote that little poem..oh and go fuck yourself..

  • if you feel that way about drinking and being drunk you have never been drunk and enjoyed it so you have no reference to tell some one like Bukowski or anyone else who likes to drink and get drunk what poetry means

  • @scullysedge

you feed from the tit of mother, so go fucker...go.

  • General Tales of Ordinary Madness!!

    Ben Gazzara

  • 5/5 man!

  • nice one "i dont like jails ..they have wrong types of bars there :)

  • I guess its cool and fun to get really hammered when you are young and shit...but lets see what you gonna think when one day you wake up and you are 130 kg and your stomich looks huge and there are blue thick vains busting beneath the sking and you are gonna know that there is nothing funny in it...

    bunch of naive children...

  • Love this tribute! thanx for uploading- it's a fav+5

  • I love his work, but I find that I can only handle it at certain times. Often it makes me feel a little too... hollow...

But still... a great kind of hollow

  • Just keep that in mind.

Every time you go into a bar restroom

    to wash your hands,

A dirty old man probably pissed in

    that sink.

  • i hope so

  • nice. the story about english class is great

  • Underbart! Får tårar ögonen och skrattar dessutom högt!

    Henry Chinaski, my man!

    :-)

  • Your first quote is not Bukowski. It is Oscar Wilde(1854-1900) from I can resist anything but temptation. And it was a great tribute.

  • really? tell me more. i love Wilde and Bukowski. so tell me more about Wilde's quote

  • charles bukowski is my hero

  • Total fraud.

  • @posthastey

    NO he is the master

  • where do you get "total fraud"? tell me what was stolen or made up?

  • great!!!

  • Great compilation, well done!

  • Brilliant. Fucking brilliant.

  • actually, they called him a "good duker" in the bar restroom.

little known fact. you can keep that, put it in your hat.

  • the man

  • Great video~

  • sorry!! BUKOWSKI!!

  • FACTOTEM???? HAHAHAHA!!! MAMMA MIA!! IS FACTOTUM!!!!! AND TRY TO READ A BIT MORE , TRY TO UNDERTAIN Bucowski,, not just thinking is a drunk guy!! is a great writer!!!

  • the kings clothes

  • Classic Vid!

  • Its a great writer, thanks for keeping him alive

  • This is a great vid. Thank You.

  • "Don't Try" RIP Bukowski, greatest inspiration of his generation, he was a drunk and a damn good one at that, he wrote about life, he wrote about alcohol, neither glorifying nor detracting from either, but telling it how it is, REAL GRITTY but REAL

  • "A good hot beer shit is glorious, man" - 1:58

  • Indeed, it is. Aint nothin better.

  • Don't forget Hemingway. major influence of Bukowski's and perhaps the greatest American writer of all time.

  • Hemingway was one of Bukowski's favourite author's but not one of his influences in writing if I'm not mistaken. It's somethin he said in one of his short stories I think. I could be wrong but I rember reading that somewhere. =)

  • ya he loved Faulkner

  • It was in Ham On Rye. He said "Ah, Hemingway. Now here was a man who could write a sentence!", or something.

  • I just read, Ham on Rye. One of the best ever.

Even better than Post Office, south of nowhere, Ordinary Madness 1 and 2.

  • nice, looking forward 2 it now. rad post office and other books of his, but thought since it dealt with his earlier life.. mite not be as bukowski-ish.. but now i'll check it out.. thank you

  • That was a good few minutes. Cheers for keeping him alive!

  • Great video compilation. I really enjoyed it, thanks!

  • Everything he wrote dripped with alcohol and sincerity. What a great writer, one of the 20th century's finest.

  • Great compilation of clips & photos.

    Worthy of the great man!

  • It looks like he's THE Greatest Drunk of All Time. Great clip. Keep 'em coming.

  • Very well done!

  • One of the greatest poets and a legend in the bar world, Charles Bukowski is the drunkard's hero. His life inspired the films Barfly and Factotem, and his approach towards writing and drinking was nothing less than epic.
