  • For some reason I couldn't get the back door off, even after I took out all of the necessary screws and pushed on door release. Am I not pulling hard enough? I don't want to break the netbook.

  • nice video,thanks!

  • Note: the latch under ESC key wasn't moving so I just scratched the plastic off with screw driver. As for the back door, there was more than 4 screws to remove. I was trying to push the back door off, but it wouldn't budge. You have to take off all the screws that are labeled (I forget - something like) M 47.5. There was like 5, 6 or 7. Then when you try to pop the back, it will go easily.

  • I wanted to upgrade my new LT2802H netbook. Bought the memory for only $15! Tried to open the keyword but failed the first time, and almost destroyed the new netbook. But I figured if I found a video, maybe that would help - so I checked YouTube and found your video. You made taking the keyboard off look so easy. I had trouble, but I kept repeating what you were doing in the video. I took out the tabs completely (popped them back in later). And I got it! Thanks so much for your help!

  • this video was verry helpful with the hardware part of this upgrade but there is no mention if there is any software, bios, or driver part of this type of upgrade .. could anyone fill me in .. basically a beginner and dont want to get in over my head

  • @danbxlinyx When you replace memory in netbook, there is no software to upgrade. Just take old ram out, put new ram in, and you're done.

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • not sure if youtube has disabled links, as i don't see them anymore. & a caveat: i haven't read all the comments. alas, the question remains, "does the computer recognized the extra memory?" gateway's website lists the maximum as 1 GB on this model (same as OEM installed).

  • Thank you so much for this video. I have this EXACT model! I watched your video then upgraded to 2gb in less than 10 minutes! The process was painless, but I'd have been lost without seeing your video first. The internet is running MUCH faster! Thanks again.

  • Yeah, this would have been a long time figuring out without this video. Thanks!

  • I could not of done this with out you!

Thanks a million! I never would of known how to of gotten the keyboard off, what screws, etc. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks so much! i tried initially to use someone's written instructions and it's just nowhere near helpful as this video.

  • thank you for the video. It worked great.. and yes, there is only 1 slot and I purchased it from crucial. and it was hard to get the keyboard loose I used a small straight screw driver. I took off 5 screws.. there is one to the right of the hole you push the screwdriver into.

  • tks u r amazeing

  • Great job!Did this before I saw your tutorial.I used TWO credit cards to work off the keyboard. There's a screw or two that aren't really marked for removal once you lift the key board, and it makes it VERY confusing and hard to remove the bottom if you don't take out all the correct screws.I didn't remove the ribbon cable to the keyboard since it's very easy to break something. Just slide the keyboard out of the way as you go around removing the screws.Push hard to remove the bottom cover. Nice!

  • @auxmike what other screws did you remove other than the four shown in the video. i can't get the back cover to just "pop" off. I'm really afraid i'm going to break something because i applied a lot of pressure. by "down", is it meant, perpendicular to the computer or "down" as in toward the person holding it?

  • OMG!!! THAT WAS SUCH A HEADACHE, BUT I FINALLY GOT IT!!!! THANKS!!!

  • thanks man. it took me a while to get the keyboard off, but it worked. sadly i ended up damaging the paint on the edge of the keyboard, but its not very noticeable.

  • Where do you push to get the back off ? Ive tryed the push spot and it it went right though. to much force. I dont want to break it .

  • Thank you so very much! I couldn't have done it without this video, you rock! P.S. The keyboard was veeeeeery hard to remove, the back cover too, I felt like I was gonna rip my computer apart, haha.

  • Hi, could you please explain to me on how to get the keyboard out? I still can't get the keyboard out ... What do I need to do with the 5 latches? Do I push them toward the screen?

  • Thanks! Your video saved the day for upgrading my LT2811u!

  • VERY helpful. Getting the back to pop off was a bit of a task. After you make sure that all the screws are out, you must PUSH DOWN really hard. There is not a clip here. You are just pushing down to force the back off. I put in the new memory and it works much faster now than before. Thank you.

  • Thanks. Great vid.

  • I can't get the keyboard back in working. I took it out to have more room (hindsight, shouldn't have) and when I reinstalled it it keeps popping out of the slot.

  • I'd like to add, this works for the LT2811u as well. I appreciate this vid; I had no idea where to access the memory area. Kudos!

  • Thanks a lot for taking time to post this!! I was going crazy trying to figure this out

  • Thank a lot, my is lt2805u same setting on the back

  • Thank you so much!

  • Great! I'll give this a try Corey.

  • Excellent video, I am totally an illiterate guy about computeres, your video helps a lot.

    Thank you very much.

  • but nothing happened. the keyboard is still sitting very firmly in place am I doing something wrong? Are there some screws I need to take out? Also, where did you buy your Ram? I'm thinking of using the crucial website, but again this is one of the many many sites which says that there are two available slots in this netbook, and again I only saw one, so if everyone is wrong about this, I don't know who i can trust to buy a good ram chip. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  • @asstasticballs The one I purchased from Crucial was Part# CT2193180 and it was only $14.99. You just need one. There are no screws to remove the keyboard. You may need to get a really thin screwdriver or something very thin to push up the grooves. It's not as easy as I did it in the video. You will feel like you're tearing up your keyboard, but you are not. If you look right above the top of keys closely, you can actually see the grooves. Hope this helps!

  • hopefully since you only put this up two days ago you will check back for comments soon. It was a good thing you made this video, because I have been thinking about this since i bought this same netbook. I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind. First is that Everything I read says this netbook has two slots, but i only saw one. It is supposed to be able to have a maximuim upgrade to 4gb, 2 for each slot. Can u please confirm this? Also, I slid the card across just like u said...

  • @asstasticballs Hi! So sorry for the late reply. I have alerts turned off and didn't realize I had any comments. To answer your question, there is only one slot that holds either a 1GB memory stick or a 2GB memory stick. 2GB is the max for this particular netbook.
