Does anyone know where that violin music in the beginning comes from? I have seen the Spoonyone use it in another video, and both of them list "Final Fantasy 4" as a source for music, and it is the only reference they share. I could not find that song anywhere, nor anything that sounds even remotely close to that theme. If anyone knows where that comes from, please let me know.

The developers spent more time on the rendered intro than they did on the game itself. The 'actors' are all Psygnosis staff members in homemade costumes. Microcosm represents everything that was wrong with early CD games - little or no gameplay coupled with grainy FMV and shit production values. Years later, even Psygnosis admitted that the game was crud.

The box's first definition of 'Microcosm' (a view of mankind regarded as being the epitome of the universe) is a pretty apt description of the game itself. The manual describes a rich and complex universe in painstaking detail that would make for a really interesting adventure, but the game ignores all of that and insists that shooting tiny robots in a guy's body is far more important. Disregarding the grand majestic scale to focus on the insignificant- that is Microcosm.

Hilarious, when I was 16 I purchased this game. I remember the shirt and the cd (Steel Splinters and Careful With That Fax were AWESOME metal guitar tracks, by the way) as well. And yeah, it was without a doubt the worst gameplay I have experienced to this day. But I have to say, at the time, I still think that the prelude of a movie was ahead of its time, visually speaking.

I have to admit, I absolutely love the Microcosm soundtrack. Rick Wakeman's best work. On-par with Kelly Bailey and Tommy Tallarico. Or it could just be that I'm a junkie for anything with a New Wave/techno/electronica vibe. It's such a ripoff that they can't even let you have the real soundtrack. 'Shadow of the Beast' (1 and 2) has a g0od soundtrack, sure, but if they say you're getting the Microcosm soundtrack, that should get what you're getting. Otherwise, they're cr0oks.

The sad thing is, Giant Dizzy Gillespie really WAS more entertaining than that opening.

It really did remind me of the constant focus in the starry sky that FF7 started with...but don't get me wrong, the rest of the game was a ton of fun, so that made up for it.
