Maybe Joe Scarborough should be unemployed. That's silly to believe that unemployment will not go up and if he thinks that we aren't tied into a GLOBAL economy, then he's even dumber than he looks. What if China said, "I don't care about the United States\" and had not loaned us the money for the dumb war he and George Bush are so proud of? Or the Saudis, that own 1/3 of America or India? Harold is exactly right. High unemployment is ALSO bad foe deficit. High unemployment means lead tax revenues for the government. Less income tax (obviously) and less sales tax as people buy less. Further it puts a strain on the safety net that we have set up (although Scarborough hates that idea too).
