@mantis1mike According to in-game lore, Dragonborn pop up randomly whenever one of the Divines feels like it.

Being Dragonborn is not something confined to the imperial bloodline, I think - Tiber Septim was both, but I don't think all his descendants could necessarily Shout. (Someone else may correct me on this. I'm pacing myself through the game and haven't nearly completed it yet.)

The "For the King" version is more then likely what the music makers actually received and used to create the main theme, as it's not a secrete that they do twist English with a bit of tuning and tending it to sound like another language, but the Dovahkiin (dragonborn) is official version used inside the game and as been know as the "harmonic chant", so i'd say both are good...

unless you are JRRT, otherwise you should not even think of create a new language... XD

@Jessguy790 The Elder Scrolls wikia has the real dragon language lyrics for this. They're the official lyrics released for the song. It actually says Dovahkiin, but lots of people mistake it for what you wrote out. Thing is, those lyrics don't fit the theme of the game. The dragonborn doesn't serve any king, there are only 8 Aedra (Talos was inducted) and it doesn't make sense for the dragonborn to guard Hrothgar. The monks know the voice too. I believe it's all association.

@Jessguy790 1) The king of Skyrim is called the Great Jarl, not a King. 2) Dovahkiin doesn't guard High Hrothgar, he guards all of Skyrim from Dragons and other evil. 3) Its been stated by Bethesda that the chant is all in the Voice of Dragons, not plain old English.
