this is like the one we just had up there..Gotta love winter storms on the Pitt! But such is life..it's worth it for those few amazing days we do have up there!
Yeah... some waves. Weather happens. Welcome to the west coast. Pitt lake is a fjord lake any other and suffers from strong outflow winds. The lesson here is don't put docks in dumb places.
I don't really support recreational properties in such pristine locations in the first place. I've seen the damage done to lakes by too much development right here in B.C. I won't get into details but take a look at large bodies of water like Powell Lk. on the sunshine coast or Sproat Lk. on Vancouver Is. Debris from storm damage and careless activity frequently litters the shore and water quality is often marginal in the summer. Hopefully Pitt lake will be spared the same fate.
my friends dock just came apart during this storm most of it landed up on the beach but they didn't find part of it. took us forever to put it all back together but i find in the summer pitt just gets to busy but it's so beautiful. amazing to how it's the biggest tidal lake in the world.
Yep....I remember that! We took our boat up there camping for a long weekend. It was awesome.....until the ride back! We got some video from inside the boat on the death ride back to the dock. Check out my Pitt Lake video!!
This storm hit us on the 15th, thank god our boat was safe and sound in side the shop, I'd hate to see it take a pounding like that. A few streets flooded and some guys decided to go for a burn out in their canoes on 3rd avenue. I spent most of my day clearing drains around the house and out in the streets. It was a nasty day for sure.
I know what this is all about, my family has had cabins on the lake for almost 40 yrs! Been in some of these storms driving, or what you guys were doing, securing the boat and docks! Can be very scary!

yes pitt is one of the only tidal lakes in the world and infact is the largest, the other is in africa i hear.
