To everyone saying AFI should not have covered this song... alright, ready? They were asked to do it for a tribute concert. The reaction from fans was so strong that they continue to play it. And, don't say that the audience doesn't know this is The Cure. The average AFI fan is quite a bit older these days... most of us are all grown up now, and we sure do know all about The Cure. Maybe you should all go pick on Taking Back Sunday because their cover of Just like Heaven is really pure awful.

@15godeatgod15 i think everyone, especially the 'tweens' are missing the point. it has nothing to do with playing the guitar and singing at the same time; it has everything to do with the amazing originality and ownership of the cover. it is like when you hear johnny cash's cover of hurt--it stands on its own. dino jr did an amazing and incredible job covering just like heaven, stamping their own style on it. that is not to say afi's version isn't good--i like it a lot--but it aint' as good.

those that can't understand the love for Dinosaur Jr. probably don't know J Mascis and didn't grow up with Sonic Youth, The Pixies, etc. (all pre-Nirvana)...That said, I LIKE this cover by AFI and I think many of the other Dino Jr fans do...but you sound clueless when you say how it sounds "off-key"...actually it is purposefully distorted. To say AFI "made this their own" is going way too far--it is good, but DinoJr. is the one that made it their own (like Johnny Cash did with his Hurt cover).

Wow. What's with everyone saying that Dinosaur Jr.'s cover was better than this? That cover was so sloppy and atrocious that I could not even stand to listen to any more of their work. This is the exact opposite of what AFI did. They took this song and added their touch so that it sounded great for an AFI fan but also kept it neat enough so that a Cure fan could appreciate it as well. Dinosaur Jr's cover was better no doubt (probably one of the best cover's of any song ever done). And the original track from Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me is all tops everyone knows that. THAT said, this is still a good cover--certainly better than other punk covers I've heard. I don't know AFI--they probably ARE emo and people might hate that, but credit where credit is due...this is the second or third best cover of Just Like Heaven out there...
