  • irvine meadows 89,best tour sonic temple.greatest concert they did.ian had the jet black straight hair the moves ,billy had long hair,it rocked.

  • Can hardly hear Ian,but when u got a killer guitarist like Billy Duffy ripping it up,its all good!!! Wot a talent he is,,has got to be one of the best lead guitarist ever on the planet. The man seems to get better n better with age.....

  • @enliven20 Agreed! Youth is a gift of nature - age is work of art ;)

  • Saw them last year in New Orleans and they were rocking like crazy! Amazing show at House of Blues! :)

  • Listen to Duffy's guitar tone. Fkkin Killer!!! Love this band forever.

  • This is Great! They age pretty good and still kick ass! BTW I'm 47 & still rock out!

  • Have you seen that lame shit 'Married To Rock' on TV ? Duffy you oughta be ashamed o yourself. Tragic !! And those women.....

  • @nobbilc And it has something to do with the way he can play guitar and make music?

  • This is great....I played at Harry O's once...awesome venue!!

  • I'm 70 and I'll die listening to the The Cult!

  • Yes, they were good. They WERE fabulous. But don't they know when it is time to give it up. Just look at them now. Uggh.

  • @brandy4939 What's wrong with these men today? They are 50, gorgeous and still keep on rocking. Will you do the same at their age? I don't think so ;)

  • Dang, people are mean. Sorry, but even if Ian Astbury weighed in at 450 pounds he'd still sound great and he'd still be sexy as hell to me AND THIS BAND STILL ROCKS people! Love it. Check Duffy out, righteous!

  • Schade... I can't hear Ian.

  • Seen them steadily since 85,never were prolific tourers.Best gigs were when I lived in the states and GnR were on the undercard AFD as the set list, what a fucking tour that was.Ian is in my top 10 vocalists of all time and i have posted that everywhere.Lucky enough to know the chaps and Billy and i always have heated arguments about football and with the Mighty Potters drawing City in the cup it should be very interesting CFFC

  • time has not been kind to Ian and the gang....

    so sad....

  • @DrBobNM With the exception of some obvious signs of facial aging on Billy, he looks far more physically fit than Ian.

  • Saw the CULT twice on the SONIC TEMPLE tour.....opening for Aerosmith...second time headlining. Those were the days.

  • So do the nay-sayers actually own guitars themselves? I saw these guys Tuesday in Charlotte NC. They killed it! Check out the video of Hollow Man from that night. Some of the best audio I've heard on one of these deals. BTW you know the camera was picking up Duufy's monitor which is mostly him, right? Refer to my opening question. Have a great night!

  • Just saw them in Phx last night. They were really tight. The Cult still have it.

Ian told the audience he is recovering from hip surgery but at 47 years old he can still rock.. I will always support this band no matter how fat Ian is.

  • Love the CULT! Seen them a few times, however Ian seems to be on a diet of Rye, pizza, chips, pepsi, beef jerky, joe louis, ho ho's and anything else he can get his hands on!

  • It might be beer. Or brandy water. Swish!

  • Kids I am 45, saw them in Charlotte NC two nights ago and we should all be this cool as we close in on 50. We are the first generation to stay this young and I love it. These guys are the most criminally under rated band in rock history. I will keep going as long as they keep touring. Now practice your guitar and go to the gym daily or shut it...ah? ah? ah?...Shut It!

    --Party on Garth.

  • My what a sharp and witty reply. You must have thought for a while about that one. Now hurry downstairs out of the attic. Your mommy has some fresh cookies for you. And don't worry, I'm sure the comic book store will start hiring real soon.

  • amen and amen! thank you! can i get a witness???

  • to: tmc3nc right on with your comment, one of THe Best Bands and totally underrated...

Ian has the most astonishing voice then and STILL !!!!

  • @MsScooter46 Yes :)

  • @dc69thedoctor Have you ever thought that when people turn 50, they might not stay skinny anymore. It happens to most of us. Will you stay skinny when you are 50, touring & living irregular life? It's completely irrelevant how do they look at age 50. I dislike these comments about their looks etc. That's pretty close to age discrimination, immature crap... I bet The Cult rocks better than you ever do in your lifetime.

  • holly crap, its Jim Morrison !

  • Shame; it's so easy to critisize when you probably can't do it yourself! Most private recordings made at gigs are rubbish. I saw The Cult last year in Birmingham and they were brilliant, everything I could have expected....and more. The Cult without Astbury is like the Stones without Mick! Still (gmccauly08 and codge2112), just remember.....Jesus loves you - everyone else thinks your an asshole!

  • But, like opinions, everyone has one! I wouldn't mind a tamborine but I'd rather be standing there and catching it! I'm not adverse to a friendly drink - which gig will you be at?

  • mate, get your facts right. I only said in my opinion Duffy is the best member nowadays!

  • Fair comment. Astbury does need to loose a few pounds, as do many of us!

  • make no mistake about it, Billy Duffy keeps this band together, he was without doubt the best member of The Cult

  • He got a fro?

  • Comment removed

  • And what the fuck have you done?

  • codge; Who the fuck are You? Save your mother fucking critique's, cause no one gives a fuck. You sound like some pathetic fucker with nothing better to do than act like some self egrandizing dickwade that hasn't done a thing with a pathetic life, ........sooooo now, to justify your empty life, you'll be a self anointed critic of someone that's reached the height's. Do us all a favor, and just fade to black and go back to your empty world.

BTW; Have a nice day........then go fuck yourself.

  • They are totally un professional. WTF is Ian doing at 1:10?!

If you can't do it anymore fellas, DON'T do it, cos this is getting pathetic and redicolous.

Oh, and Billy is still ok though... Ian and the backing band, specialy Mike the unnecessary noise maker and Tempesta the timberman suck balls. THIS IS NOT THE CULT!

  • I saw them at the 100 Club in Feb last year and they were outstanding, Ians voice might not be what it once was but they have been at it for going on 30 years!

If you haven't got anything positive to say, DON'T SAY IT!

  • @lovroasperger re: "They are totally un professional. WTF is Ian doing at 1:10?!"

I think he is counting in the beat! They have a Band Notes meeting afterward, then cookies & hot milk before bed. What else did you think?

  • @TubeFreakJonas LOL! You think? I think that the one who filmed this clip is standing very wrong place, in front of stage. He/she only get sound from Billy's monitor, not PA. Never should filming live show in front of stage. What comes to your comment; no comment, your comment is ridiculous =D

  • @aiccu - I wrote just make you laugh. Barrels of fun monkeys! Having fun silly time.

  • @TubeFreakJonas But do you hear me laughing? ;)

  • @aiccu - It was all about you, yes.

  • Was this their first gig of 2009?

  • That was.....FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!! Best close-up footage of Billy Duffy I've ever seen! Excellent job, xoxoislove!
