Dragon Age 2 was a good game... I still haven't finished it though...but that's not the point. The Witcher is my favorite game. In Dragon Age 2, they took a lot of cool stuff from Witcher and that's why I think it was fun.

@Jackalofdeath Seriously? Literally every one of those games you described are really just shitty Witcher ripoffs.

I mean, I guess Gothic's solid, and Two Worlds is kinda fun, but The Witcher has the game engine, and subsequently the graphics, atmosphere and setting, detailed, intriguing, morally-ambiguous characters, fresh, smart gameplay mechanics and the story to blow all others out of the water.

The only serious competition for The Witcher this year in my mind is Skyrim, which is a cons

@christrek Sort of. To my knowledge, it's much better designed and written than DA2, which was a cheap attempt at blend the pros of Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age into one, which kind of a failed.

The Witcher has a different target audience then even intelligent Mass Effect 2, which was an awesome game, as was its predecessor, and the original DA was solid too.

It's similar, in a more developed, mature way, but I wouldn't call it exactly the same.

Haha, that's more due to DA2 sucking all the life out of the original than due to this game's own merit, though yeah this is a great game. As much as I hate to admit it, as a PC gamer, I just can't get over how great the graphics are.

Very cool, the inventory/quest journal interface looks to modern for my taste though. It sort of bothers me given the fantasy setting of the game. Same for the various icons. It's not the Mass Effect world after all. In the first game the HUD and inventory looked more cluttered but they had that charming "medieval" feel. You know, scrolls, candles, seals, hourglasses and alchimists paraphernalia.
