  • Very nice

  • the horse jumped a little late.

  • This will help me a lot while drawing! O:

  • to me, it almost seems to hesitate...

  • @Lsumba97 it was probably just looking at the jump, like almost all horses

  • @Lsumba97 no that was how a horse jumps im a semi professional show jumping jockey

  • This is so cool!!! Nice job:)

  • this is really good!!

  • OK i am an equ and hunter rider and most of you are wrong we do jump just as high thank u and we jump it much more nicer and easier just cause u guys go faster dosnt mean its more fun thank u very much

  • @Tommylvr100 hunter riding is more boring than jumpers. im sorry but its true. dont take offense or anything i ride hunters as well as jumpers but im saying its all prissy and snooty and perfect and thats the idea dont take offence but its just not as exciting. dont get all defensive everyone has their own opinion just saying. and by the way, i dont like the way you made it sound that jumper riders dont have to be good riders they just have to have a fast horse, and thats so not true.

  • @twireimoonshine7 yes i no now cause im starting to do jumpers now so i no what u mean and i still am going to do equ and a little bit of hunters

Also i never said that jumpers dont have to be good riders they just have different techniques i am positive that i have never said that they dont have to be good riders i just said that the horse dosnt have to jump it as fancy and i didnt say anything about the rider

  • @Tommylvr100 you said that in hunters you have to be a nicer jump and thats not ture, if a horse doesnt have a good honest, clean jump their not going to win.

  • @twireimoonshine7 i said that the horse should have a fancier jump like knees tucked perfectly head in a good position and didn't say that the horse doesn't have to have a good jump on him i said FANCY not good hunters should be FANCY jumpers don't have to be FANCY they just have to have a GOOD jump on them

  • @Tommylvr100 ok whatever we both know what you meant.

  • @Tommylvr100 i dont see how a horse can do all that when the jump isnt high enough

  • @rachelsbeauty my horse has knees tucked up and his head nice and were only jumping 2'3. it doesnt matter about height. just style. this horse has a different style

  • @rachelsbeauty my horse has knees tucked up and his head nice and were only jumping 2'3. it doesnt matter about height. just style. this horse has a different style and this horse jumps fine to me! knees are tucked looks good!

  • Thanks! I needed this to describe a horse's jump in my story for english.

  • It's hard for me to disclose, but i was once raped by a horse

  • @ibedamanyo i lol'd.

  • Cool video man

  • nice horse, nice video. i dont see anything wrong with the jump.

  • Stop complaining about hunters! You don't just sit there you have to ride the horse as well :P you have to make the horse look perfect alot is on the rider. I love hunters and it isn't as easy as you all think. I thought this guy was fine, showjumpers hunters and equitation are different worlds.

  • FINALLY! Everyone says hunters you dont do anything, but you have to do a lot. you position has to be good, and your horse has to look nice.

  • I know! People say it looks so easy, but thats because we want to make it look like that, effortless and flawless. and i love how all the people who say its easy chip, and mist strides and have crappy eq lol

  • I dont see how great hunter is. The horse just canters over it. in show jumping, the horse leaps over. which is WAY fun! and the jumps are higher to. I dont see whats so hard!

  • @showjumpergirl11 OK its basically the same thing hunters are just more collected and show jumping maybe the fences are a little higher but does that matter no it dosnt and my sister does show jumping and she events and she used to do hunters and she says that they arent that different so before u speak u should no something first

  • @showjumpergirl11 ......its not the matter of hunter being easy hun, some people just like lower fences and an easier ride. i would much rather do the jumper shows but can no longer, cause if i get hurt, who will watch my son? so i now do the hunter shows aswell, not as much fun but definatly still very competitive.

  • @showjumpergirl11 It two completely different things. In show jumping you're trying to get over the jumps under a certain amount of time; position and path don't really matter as much as long as you get over the jumps in the right order. In hunters, you're keeping the horse collected and you're judged on how you and your horse look, not how fast you can make it through the course. You have to use your corners and make a full course; no cutting corners or cutting between jumps for a faster course

  • @Jeanna509 ikr soo true you do aa lot to make you look good and our horse look and act welll. You have to make sure your strides are right between the jumps so hunters do a LOT then just sailing over jumps.

  • good ride good jump. dont know why people are paying it out it was fine.

  • Thanks for posting this :) It'll be a big help when I'm trying to animate a horse jumping :)

  • about the speeding thing, im actually training a horse to jump now, and she's only just figured it out, and she sometimes goes at them really fast, and we let her, so she can jump how she wants and be comfertable with it.

  • if your allowing that horse to race towards a fence maybe your not the right trainer for her. if you let her get away with it now, it'll develop into a very serious problem later on.

  • Personally i think its a beautiful hors. it jumps fine and theres nothing wrong with the riding. lovely tbh =)

  • omg. just leave it alone. most of you are probably hunters who only care about looks and perfection. but when you get into the real showjumping worlds its alot different. an olympic instructor told me to ride my horse like its an ostrich (sp?) because he was rushing. all your little hunter horses who travel with a nice rhythym over 50cm are bagging out someone who is a better rider than them. its probably a young horse who rushes at jumps. so get over it, no-one hurt you with this jump

  • Comment removed

  • haha, this is totally at the Earl Warren Show Grounds in Santa Barbara, Ca. Does anyone know if this is the Santa Barbara National Horse Show?

  • you know, I've shown there a lot coz I only live an hour away, but I didn't even notice it was earl warren!

  • why is he holding his hands so akwardly in te begining, and why is his canter so bouncy?

  • when youre approaching a bigger jump you should hold your hands a little higher than normal

  • oh, well you learn something new every day, iguess ^_^ thank you, ill try not to embarass myself in the future, you seem to kow what you are talking about, can you plz watch my videos, and give me tips?

  • lol dont be embarrassed :) ive just been riding a long time is all :)

  • lol, me no, ive just been riding a year, actualy a little bit longer, my record jump is 75cm ^_^ and im proud, my friends had a competition today, one of their horses didnt want to jump, but shes only 6, and it was her first competition...just thought id share ^_^

  • oh my god everyone just shut the fuck up. yes he probably could have come out of the saddle a little more but seriously his form was not that bad and nothing to get all critical about. so everyone just fuck off. and to hunterjumper4545, just because you jump hunters doesnt mean you know everything there is to the form of jumping, so shut the hell up.

  • Ok, so have you ever seen him in real life? NO

hmm didnt think so, unless you are a world cup showjumper keep your opinions to yourselves, if you judge him like that you obvoiusly dont realise how much it takes from beginning riding to get that good.

WOww so that was one jump! and you can all judge an ability from that i see, lets see you get on and jump that horse that high

  • OH you guys are too funny. Which crazy horse fan knows the MOST. I'm sure all of you people judging are so damn perfect. The dude wasn't trying to win a medal..back off eh?

  • He wasn't even THAT bad- wow! like ya'll critisize- he could still be learning or he messed up once- you can't get it perfect ALL the time- and anyways this vid wasnt even put up to critisize the rider it was for poeple to see the different phases of how the horse jump's.. get it? DUH! wow you people r rude as hell!

  • good jump, but the man needs to sit in his saddle more

  • Hunter's acually lean way too far forward... He's not that far back , just using his seat and not his hands. Get it?

  • wow. and because your a hunter jumper that means you know everything there is to know about the form of jumping doesnt it? no...and spirit is right. most of you hunters DO tend to lean to far forward

  • @hunterjumper4545 That was the most pathetic comment I ever. ^^

  • @Str33tification If you look that was ove 2 years ago.. i was being stupid and immature sorry if i offended you .. geez.

  • @hunterjumper4545 for the record there is no such thing as "hunter jumpers". there are hunters and jumpers. there is also equitation. if you do both you should say i do hunters and jumpers.

  • Wateva ppl get a life! He is still learning duh!!

  • thats a horrible rider.

its not that great of a video.

  • Shut up! They're not a horribel rider FYI... They acually have good form.

So keep that sick and undertrained mouth of your shut =|

  • A that dosent tell how a horse jumps

  • I think the rider could have a better lower leg, it is slightly slipping back.

  • he wasnt showing all of yas how to ride he was showing yas how the horse jumps

  • The rider needs to get his seat a bit better. Maybe he should try squeezing with his thighs.

  • i thought that the rider was good! it was a nice vid

  • the rider is not terrible, does everyone hu watches these vids and comments crap never watch showjumping anymore!!!

  • the rider is terrible

  • Everything looked awful

  • the rider needs to let up on the horse's mouth.

  • heels down hands low rider needs work

  • not a very good rider...bad seat, he slams down on the horse's back, and he pops up and down with every canter stride. this guy needs some dressage lessons. I can't stand some of the sloppy jumping riding in-between the jumps. this happens from jumping barns pushing people into jumping long before they have an excellent seat on the flat. if you dont' have an excellent seat on the flat, you won't be able to progress.

  • it wasnt about riding it was about how the horse jumps

  • his hands r a little high but u kno i used to ride a pony named charlotte and i had to spread my hands apart going to one jump lol

  • this horse and rider are perfect! some of you may not know, but when you get into the higher levels of jumping only the slightest amount of release is needed-so that you still have contact with the horses mouth, but it is very light. This is what the rider is doing here, and he does it very well. The horse is obviously happy, and doing a great job-there is nothing wrong with this example. :P

  • ok so some horses are like mine they cant have release or they go crazy after and before the jump. If you guys dont know the horse you shouldn't really say anything . And this guy is a very good rider , and if you are not at least jumping and riding at this guys levels shut up

  • wrong lead approaching the fence and after it

  • no it's not he's jumping it off the right.

  • you need to release more because it looks like your holding his mouth for support but thats where ur calfs and thighs take place but ur horse still jumped beautifuly ova the jump

  • i think u should give a Little more Release

  • hey i am a horse trainer and if you need any tips feel free to message me!

  • that guy wasn't a very good rider but all and all, nice clip

  • rider wasn;t good. their hands stayed in the same position over the ence and did not give the horse its head. poor example.

  • ive always wondered how a horse really jumps cause i ride all the time but i never really knew how they did it cause i was on their back =)

  • the horses jump is ooookkkk but not great. someone has already said this but not all horses jump like this. like one of my horses has a really round jump and another one of my horses has a very flat jump and my other horse has a very nice smooth roundish jump but no to rounded if u no wat i mean. this is a good ref. for beginners but when u get to higher jumps this wouldnt really help u at all so u might want to make another video with like a 4' oxer or somthing just somthing easy.

  • perrty kool :-]

  • Thanks! I'm just starting to jump and this is a nice reference

  • not every horse jumps like that just so you know.. nice horse :)

  • i'm sure they know that not every jump is the same. just like how every person walks differently. nice vid, great reference for my animation.

  • Great job

  • nice video but it shouldn't be called how a horse jumps it should be how to jump a horse. but other wise its a nice video

  • people are only commenting on the rider because they are missing the point of the video. watch the HORSE becuasre this video shows you how it jumps...

  • thats how a horse jumps not a rider the rider in this video had bad posture and the horse needs to be more rounded when it jumps

  • the riders posture was fine and so was the horse, its not jumping a 5ft fence and doesnt need to bascule.

lovely horse and thanks for the vid ponytrax

  • nice and helpful vid for begnrs!!

  • hey ponytrax are you in pony club? nice video.

  • very good quality slo mo!

  • cool

  • I think it was a very good video because I was wondering what the phases of a horse jumping looked like, and this video gave me exactly that. Everyone is trying to critique the rider, but as the owner of the vid said, it is not her. Just showing the stages of jumping. ponytrax: good job.

  • you did two piont at the wrong time

  • why are you commenting that on every ones videos? idk whos teaching you but he did FINE.

  • Very EDUCATIONAL video!!!!!

  • Let me repeat for the 4th time: this isn't me riding--I shot this video at an A-rated show to illustrate the phases of the jump. I don't know the rider and I don't know the horse.

Criticisms of the rider's technique are unnecessary.

  • I loved the video thanks for sharing!

ha ha i wish i was that person that looks like fun i cant wait to learn to jump.

YOur next video should be showing how to have people jump, i would end up watching that over and over!

  • @ponytrax

so were u riding that horse?

  • why do we want 2 no how a horse jumps i thought it waz jst u ridin...

  • well if u read the tittle

  • your sad

  • you're sad

  • i think that as you approach the jump, you should loosen the reins a teensy bit more and sit a little more forward, it looked kind of weird.

Anyone reading my comment and disapproves, don't bite my head off. It's just a comment.

  • Yea it looked like you were tryin to hold it back

  • Actually, since the person is doing jumpers, his hands have to be back and he has to be pushing hard with his legs to engage the hind end, making momentum for the jump. Hunters is very different, if that's what you're talking about.

  • cool thanks for that x

  • what kind of aproah was that? you sat so far back and your arms were flailing! shorten your reins and stop acting like your drowning, lovely horse though :o)

  • Actually it was very good. His arms are back to him and he was pushing with his legs to make the horse use their back end. It makes momentum for the takeoff. I don't know who taught you.

  • cool

  • cool thanks for that x

  • we don't say them we

    say

    approch

    take off

    mid-air

    landing

    getaway

  • nice video =]

for everyone who comented on the rider instead of THE VIDEO you're ignorant little fucks. =]

  • really gd riding but i think he could have given with his hands a little more at the take off phase

  • kwl

  • Cool!

  • Let me repeat: this is a video I shot of a horse and rider I didn't know. The event was an A-rated hunter-jumper competition in California. The purpose of the video was to show the phases of the jump.

All I can say about the horse & rider is that they were warming up for a 1-meter competition. The horse showed a tendency to get too quick and jump flat; the rider needed to compress him on approach.

  • not for that jump..he would've chipped if he took another stride, not good for a vertical because it requires height. but for a little jump, yea that would've been long. ;)

  • i wasnt been funny

so less of the attitude thanks

  • attitude? na nevermind i don't want to get in a "fight" over one stride that obviously turned out fine. fyi i showed no "attitude" i was just replying saying the distance was fine...thanks to you too.

  • Also if you look where he is jumping he looks as if he is at some national show jumping compitition.

When all you people slagging him off jump nationally, then post a video and comment.

  • i Cant belive how many people are being so horrible

    1. The rider rode very straight

    2. Made a great check so the horses stride was corrected

    3. Maintained a good balanced even canter

    4. Was light on the horses back. Why would you want to be heavy and deep?

    5. Gave lovely with his hands to allow the horse to streatch

    6. Looked ahead and beyond the fence.

What a nice jump, and horse! Perfectly riden! And the horse looks a hand full!

I would like to see everyone else jump!!!!

  • Yes so would i! I luv jumping on my chestnut Wisper!

  • hey, would yall guys stop giving this rider shit hes just trying to please yall!!!!

  • This isn't the best example for riding. The rider is hanging on the horses mouth. The reins are too long!

  • i AGREE but the horse i dont think minds much,

and for jumping u need the reins quite short anyway. =D

  • u held on to your horses mouth too much learn to sit in your saddle more

  • that is bad. you should use the saddle to control not hang onto the bridlee 4 balance. also r u american bcoz americans av shitee seats in ridin. woo go english it is proven that the english have the best seats in the world.

  • awesome vid!

  • helpful vid thanks

  • Thank you for posting it. It is very helpful video to me!

  • do you know what i think is so funny, but i really hate??? when people watch video's like these and say that the rider needs to sit deeper release his hands over the jump etc, but when we go to the person who wrote those comments site, alas, the dont have 1 video.

  • while ur horse was cantering, u need a better position to stop u bouncing on her back, also u need to bring ur hands up the horses neck to stop pulling on the bit as u hav short rens

  • do you know what i think is so funny, but i really hate??? when people watch video's like these and say that the rider needs to sit deeper release his hands over the jump etc, but when we go to the person who wrote those comments site, alas, the dont have 1 video.

  • wow

  • Not bad. but it doesnt actually show WHAT the horse DOES while jumping. it just show the phases. i like the horse.

  • Wow!

  • Good video! I am riding horse about five years! GOOD!

  • Nice Video. I liked it a lot! Very Cute horse. The man is a nice rider!

  • Great Video! Beautiful horse! Nice rider!

  • i Agreee

  • In my humble opinion, the rider needs a better seat so she's not pounding on that horse's back all the time.

  • rider is male

  • hahaha that was a funny vid. and ya. in big jumping like spruce medows and shit its like all guys pretty much

  • good rider for a dude....you do realise it is a male dominated sport...moron!

  • No its not...u need to open ur eyes a little wider next time u go to a show. 90% of the riders are girls

  • am i mean grand prix showjumping not your local shows im sure your used to! when and if you ever get to go to one then you'll see....roight!

  • I go to grand prix shows all the time i do the AA circuit and most of them are still girls, but there are more guys then usual in the grand prix ring. Girls still are dominate though

  • well i can safely tell you that in ireland, at grand prix level, its male dominated!!!

  • oh ur in Ireland I'm not

  • yup i am, my cousin is on the irish team and i jump at a high level also so thats how i know that, maybe the states are dif, actually the american team are women so.....

  • yeah thats the difference...I was right and so are u so I'm just going to leave it at that

  • No, it's male dominated. Look at the Grand Prix and Olympic level.

  • youre a great rider for a dude!!

  • i think this video is cool 4/5

  • scuze me? i was defending you!

and no i wont appolagize to you for trying to stick up to youre videos....so y should i? i wasnt saying it too you i was saying it too the person hoo was critisising youre video! the person has deleted their comment or you have but you should pay more attention to what people rite and hoo they are riting it too before you start accuing people of things..

  • That horse looks like it has some Abdullah in it...

  • Wow! So cool! I would love it if you made a video like that except with the horse on the lunge without a rider so we can see their free motion. I love it!!

  • whoa watch the names.

and in respons to your number three. what do you think judges do, they dont get on the horse prior to pining a class, obviously no horse and rider are the same. so watch what you are trying to agrue before you start calling people low names.

  • If you are a jduge in competitions you r trained how to do it (like you know what oure talking about) you cant judge a horse from one lil video! you have to see the horse jump abit more to beable to see what the horse is like!
