Every time a new game/mmorpg is announced, everyone compares it to the latest mmorpg that was released and say how much the newly announced MMORPG will dominate the last one and then after a few months after the new game is released, everyone picks a new MMORPG to praise. It's called being a follower and wanting to be like all the other idiots who chase the newest thing.
I just have one MAJOR concern with this game's PvP. If anyone can join the PvP and have max level, skills, and traits, then what's the point of PvPing? Sure it's fun at first, but if you're not advancing and becoming more unique, it will get boring FAST. A person who's been playing for a year should NOT be the same as someone who just started
That warfont looks new and exciting vs current WFs/BGs in Rift and WoW. And the SWTOR's huffball is also new and exciting, but I don't really care for that game. I like how the capture is faster with more friendlies on the point, and it's not just something you click/grab/cross to control. You can fight for it first. Great concept.

@inademv well first off they dont have a dedicated healing class which is fairly unique to mmorpg. second the playstyle seems really different from what we are used to from gw1 and any other mmrpg for that matter. third they have a unique system which allows the world to keep changing constantly for all the players at once. this is something NO OTHER traditional mmorpg has. fourth guildwars has always excelled in making quests fun to play in contrary to WoW which is just kill those guys.
@youthdoctor46 To be honest I'm not very impressed with SW:ToR. My friend was going crazy for it, but after looking at videos and reading up on it I feel it's just a much updated standard MMO. I've played so many different MMOs recently and most of them are read quest, do dungeon with a Tank, DPS, and healer. I'm so tired of that formula.

But those close combat characters always have 1 or 2 skill to close the distance and once the skillful warrior have the caster in range it is over for the caster. Of course, if the warrior is not skillful enough, the caster can easily gain distance again and defeat him easily.

I am thinking there needs to be an observer mode. Some way to zoom out and get a better perspective on the match as a whole. If they do that I bet there would be a good chance this turns into a real deal e-sport.

@ooorlyy The reason people like this pvp because it actualy takes skill to play instead of buttom smashing. Look at the elementalist bar and notice how his spells keep changing. Thats because he keeps changing elements. Its the same with the other classes.
Wow pvp is utter complete shit. Everyone wants to play the most op class because they like to win. The game is so gear dependent that takes forever to get a new 85 max gear. Gw2 gives you the same armor and weps so only difference is skill.
I like how well Arenanet have thought this out. By having 3 points between only 5v5 it makes the game so fast paced. You could never have more than 3 players at a single point whilst still covering 3 bases, and that would mean you could only have 1 player at each of the other 2, making them easy to recapture. Relatively short games. Pretty much no opportunity to camp without letting your team down. Also because its such a small team it feels like your character really makes a difference

I think the best thing about this PvP is that it is fun to watch. Most MMO pvp is not fun to watch unless you know everything that is going on. Granted I do understand some of the skills that this ele is using but still I would have an awesome time even if I knew nothing about this game. It's almost like a tf2 match.

That is incorrect. Aion skill combos are basically spells that work one after the other in a specific order. GW skill combos are two skills coming together to make a new skill.

If you are "downed" you still can use 4 specific abilities.
Those abilities are rather weak (range) attacks or helpful for survival.
The elementalist for example is while downed still able to use the fog form... :)

I am thinking there needs to be an observer mode. Some way to zoom out and get a better perspective on the match as a whole. If they do that I bet there would be a good chance this turns into a real deal e-sport.

@TheCheesedogable I played DFO and, however I didnt like because of immersion, a lot of ppl play it. In my opinion its not fault of the game's concept idea but the company that developed it. I just wish that a big and good company do something like that because Im bored to tears of wow-like games. But dont get it as Im saying that GW2 is not a good game, actually looks like good, it just dont surprise me =/

@ooorlyy The reason people like this pvp because it actualy takes skill to play instead of buttom smashing. Look at the elementalist bar and notice how his spells keep changing. Thats because he keeps changing elements. Its the same with the other classes.
Wow pvp is utter complete shit. Everyone wants to play the most op class because they like to win. The game is so gear dependent that takes forever to get a new 85 max gear. Gw2 gives you the same armor and weps so only difference is skill.

I like how well Arenanet have thought this out. By having 3 points between only 5v5 it makes the game so fast paced. You could never have more than 3 players at a single point whilst still covering 3 bases, and that would mean you could only have 1 player at each of the other 2, making them easy to recapture. Relatively short games. Pretty much no opportunity to camp without letting your team down. Also because its such a small team it feels like your character really makes a difference

@TimothyParadox1 i dont think anyone would care about that. they were basicaly the same level and the same equipment and im sure boon control had plenty of time to get used to the controls as you can compare time between the matches they adapted at a good rate. so im sure they practiced quite a bit but like i said they wont be popular in gw2 since everyone from aion hates there guts there probably going to make it hell for them in gw2

I think the best thing about this PvP is that it is fun to watch. Most MMO pvp is not fun to watch unless you know everything that is going on. Granted I do understand some of the skills that this ele is using but still I would have an awesome time even if I knew nothing about this game. It's almost like a tf2 match.

That is incorrect. Aion skill combos are basically spells that work one after the other in a specific order. GW skill combos are two skills coming together to make a new skill.

well I was expecting It will be more focused around the fight and killing people. It looks like that capturing points is what matters most. and so because of that there is lot of solo running and capping?
