Hey, I have a 1980 bird, and would like to fix it up a bit... Was left to me by my father when I was a younger (age 4 now 19) And it sat until I was about 17 when I started it up again. I want to make it purrrr but have no idea what to do... Its all the original stuff, needs some work, but i would really like put another engine in it... anny suggestions?
you might consider leaving the engine alone, mine came stock with the 305, they run fast and their not as thirsty as the big blocks, which comes in handy now-a-days

Is it a 4.9? You could simply put a 6.6L 400ci pontiac engine or like I prefer, chevy engine

Welll I just looked up the vin#
and its the 305 v8, which I think is a 5.0 liter

cool you could put a 350ci. 400ci or maybe 383
