You really have to tone it down as a singer as you get older... look at what happened to Simon Le Bon, for example, still trying to hit the same notes he was when he was in his 20s, ends up cancelling a tour because of laryngitis. Marian's evolved this song to suit the natural changes that take place as you get older, and it sounds better to me now than it did in the 80s.

Those of us that has followed Alphaville all the way don't find any problem with Marian's voice. Of course he has aged, that's perfectly natural and to be expected. I still feel he hits quite a few sweet, high notes that you really wouldn't expect "at his age". Quite delightful that he's not finished with evolving the song instead of just doing it "the oldfashioned way".

the enthusiasm of the people's applause makes the final figure of how much has been appreciated the song....practically very little...I'm sorry of this because Alphaville made the story of the 80's dance ..the changed voice of Marian tells everything...he sings under an octave of his original voice.When we listen songs of this beauty,we expect to hear everything as we left it years ago,while instead after some notes,we realize that it is not this way...
