Indeed, Edgar is terribly overpowered in the beginning of the game when AutoCrossbow is an instant way of winning almost every random battle, Noiseblaster essentially achieves the same just slowly, allowing you to steal, and his ST tools injure bosses seriously.
But his usefulness is the usefulness of his Tools, and that's one of the commands we have no access to because of the NS - No Specials - rule.
Sabin gets a better weapon in the Burning Fist and so we pick him.
still he would right? im fallowing along with u, and dont feel like using a lot of time redoin fights. (some reason, tunnel armor was the hardest boss so far for me 0,0)
Yeah, it's a good idea to take Edgar along. Make sure you also get Shadow only after you receive your first Espers too, so that you can teach him spells and give a magic power +1 boost.
In an LLG, the rule is only that you should try going for the (final) lowest possible average by endgame. Since Shadow and Celes get elevated to lv. 6 when you do the banquet anyway, it's a decent idea to give them an Esper boost before that.
However, if you hire Shadow before Zozo, he won't learn any magic until Atma / the WoR.
I suggest taking Locke along to Zozo to steal Dragonboots. Two pairs should be enough.
o wow u must have been thinking "o shit i dont want to do this again D:" :P

I didn't know you could get Shadow again so soon...
Seems like jump really comes in handy too

I really wish I'd forgotten about him and taken Locke along instead.
I'll be definitely picking him up for the floating continent though.

I wouldn't consider Leap a special. Rage would count.

I found Edgar's Chainsaw to be very useful. Why not use him instead of Sabin?

wouldnt edger with a spear increase the damage of jump? would that, maybe, make him better with the jump?

I didn't plan to use this strategy so I brought characters without the intention to jump.
