I never understood why this song was not a huge hit. Cheap Trick fan know it and generally love it. The attachment is much like Bad Company fans have to Shooting Star or Foreigner fans to Blue Morning Blue Day.
This song totally kicks ass, why this song didn't make the Top 40 is beyond me, All Shook Up was IMO a very underrated album and why that album didn't sell very well as their previous albums is beyond me
@dukeofkbs Saxes are NOT Brass, they're WOODWINDS!!! Get your instruments straight! LOL (no harm intended, I just thought your comment was rather funny!)
Cheap Trick opened with this song at the Roxy in LA about 10 years ago. I've seen a lot of shows, and it was one of the best ever. "Tom Peterson is an excellent bassist," said Lemy Kilmister who of course, was hanging out to see the great show on the Strip.
They opened with this when I saw them live the first time in Tulsa, OK sometime in 1981-82. The Michael Stanley Band opened for them. Concerts were general admission back then and I was in a crushing sea of people about 10 feet from the stage. Good times. Thanks for posting!
I'd like to form a band and sing "Stop The Music" along with a whole bunch more songs I love. I would also like a kickin male singer in the group!

I agree that this is a very underrated song.
It has kind of a John Barry "James Bond" feel to it. The title even sounds like a James Bond title.

This is my favorite Cheap Trick song. Just something about it... Robin Zander's vocals are awesome. As is George Martin's production.
