Have you read The Hobbit? Because if you read The Hobbit and read everything it tells you why Sméagol is called Gollum when he's a creature. It's actually the noise that he makes that gave him the name, and it sounds like "gollum", hence his name!
But do you know if there's also a meaning of "Gollum"? Sméagol and Déagol have both a meaning: Sméagol means something like "to bury/dig oneself in", further "to hide" and Déagol means something like "secret", the secret that Gollum keeps.
The movie/book and the way Shméagol acts make him look bad and evil, but when you know everything about what happened, you really start to kind of feel sorry for him...BTW do u know why they call him Gollum?
@superLOTRgirl That's why I made this video. To me, Sméagol is a pitiful creature and his and Déagol's story is just sad. And I must say that I like them both very much!
Well, the only thing I suppose to know is that the name Gollum comes from the end of the name Sméagol but neither do I know the real meaning of Gollum nor do I exactly know why they call him that way. Do you?
