:40 to :52 statement: You have culpability for not stopping Weyerhauser. You also have culpability for using tp. I agree with the 2nd statement but not the 1st.
There are 6.8+ billion human animals (population overshoot: you are one of them as I am). Our population is large. it is the nature of population overshoot that animals destroy the very environment that sustains them, then the population - as sad as that may be. As I see it our responsibility is to recognize that fact and deal with it.
@dko9873 global warming is debateable. however the extinction rates are not (1000 times their natural state if you want to know), nor is the loss of 50% of the worlds forests, wetlands, and grasslands over the last century. nor is the incalculable amounts of mega and mina fauna lost over the course of human history. nature is bigger than politics, much bigger
@ButterySexBiscuit at least Jensen has enough of a pair to say what everyone else already thinks but is to afraid to say because they don't want to be perceived as backwards greens.
Huh? Did he just say the Yugoslavian resistance killed Jews? 700k Serbs lost their lives in WWII due to Croatian, Albanian and Bosnian links to fascism... Yugoslavia as a whole were American allies in WWII. That doesn't make sense to anything I've ever studied about Yugoslav history. Even the past series of wars was not he Serbs' fault; but that of international financiers, fortune 500, and American, German and British PR.
@GnosticMedia No shit sherlock, you just missed his entire point. Of course they didn't kill jews, they resisted those who killed jews. Are you really that dumb?
"Who is responsible for Capitalism, the Atombomb, the killing of the indians, slavery, hunger, stupidity, consumer culture?" Me not but everybody else....
Who is responsible for making this stupid interview?
Theodore Kaczynski was the real deal. I don't agree with his bombing, but I do respect him for practicing what he preached. All these guys Jensen, Churchill, Zerzan are Kaczynski wannabees.
I like Derrick Jensen, but he is without a doubt a hypocrite. He advocates blowing up dams but he's too comfortable flying around in planes preaching to people to actually grow a pair and blow some up. His arguments ring absolutely true, but he rationalizes his ass off to keep from doing anything about it.
you, you closed minded idiot, are an anthropocentric moron. You, like most people who place intrinsic value on humanity rather than ecological community, have been conditioned (subconsciously) to think that the natural world comes secondary to the "human" world. There is no human world. We are just one part of a beautifully functioning biogeochemical system. A big burden is what we are. He is just making things clear and putting things into perspective.
of all the species ever to walk the planet, 94% went extinct because of A) their genetic incapability of adaptation OR B) they were not in balance with their surrounding environment. Our insanely out of balance culture is affecting the balance of other species as well. 200 species a day go to extinct. 200!!! Thats 1000 times the natural rate. Think man. And just dont be one of these typical mindless drones who can justify the destruction of this planet upon which we depend absolutely.

Whoo-ee!! "idiot and 'moron' in the same sentence, with a a little garnish. What kind of person are you who does not place intrinsic value on humanity? That's pretty scary, but then again, you people are terrorists and should be gunned down as such when you threaten human life (as you do in your post) . I however, am in fact proud of my anthropocentricism. Without it, how could I as a human affect change? (I'm all for conservation and protecting resources).but they are still only that:resources.
Again, well done on attacking the messenger and not the message.
Oh and as for the president, no shit, he was going out of office. Its sort of default for retiring presidents to do something good right at the end of their term. Its called the latency effect.
do yo uhave an actual argument, or just contradiction? By your illogic, Bush should NOT have created the marine reserve so that his image in your mind would remain consistent wit your pre-conceieved notion.. Brilliant. This is why normal people think liberals are lunatics.

WOW! Now that was some great verbage from an inbread like you. Just because your dad and grandpa are one in the same person, doesn't mean you should be angry with the rest of the world.
someone NEEDS to tell this wonderfful young man,he does not need toilet paper. If you get a wand in your shower, youcan take a dump, squat walk and sit on your tub,and squirt your b hole, its quite refreshing, and youll never go back to tp.I used to use a roll a day,im tp free for 1 year.
Once i told that to a tree and he was mad,I accidentally woke him up,he yelled at me and said not to bark up his arse!
Well I guess alot of people would consider tactics like sabotage, unarresting, and tearing up concrete violent. I could never tell anyone what to do. But personally at this point I believe that we have been pushed too far and that any tactics at our disposal should at least be considered to defend ourselves and those we love and depend on (the forests and rivers for example)
Sen Larry Craig, what a guy huh? a right wing pervert soliciting oral sex in a bathroom. Idaho really needs to look at the caliber of person they elect to the senate. Nuff said.
Someone needs to say something positive here, so I may as well do it. That tree knows whats up. I wish I knew that tree. You can actually have a positive influence on your ecosystem, so dont just conserve things and go for less destruction, actually give back. Anyone can regain this reciprocal relationship that we lost. Dont just recycle, rewild.
Civilization will end itself. It will consume itself. Our species will end. Take a personal responsibility for your life's effect on the world. I know its made to sound hippyish and hokey, but Karma will get you in the end.
I humped a tree. It spoke to me and wanted me to. Well, at least I thought it did. Was the tree talking to me or what it those funny mushrooms I ate? After I humped it, we got into a discussion. I asked what he thought of Jensen's books and the tree exclaimed, "Murderer!!!!"

Hang on: someone tells Jensen that, because he consumes a small amount of paper products, he's "just as" culpable as someone who consumes a huge amount of paper products: and, instead of instantly rebutting the guy with the basic theory of numbers, Jensen decides the price of using mass-manufactured paper goods is stopping them from being made?
Let's all get the least oil consuming cars available at this time. If everybody did this we would have more leverage against the oil companies. I think that education or broadcasting real information about the danger of pollution and the alternative products available would have more of an impact than being in a battle with local corporations and legislation.
