_____At 2:16.. "Commander Shepard. I'm sending this message back in time to inform you of certain critical events." Heh, since when did the Illusive Man get time-travel capabilities? Since now, I suppose. But since we're talking about time travel, his now is our future. Or his past is our now. Something like that. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. Don't pretend that you don't.
for a white guy i love when this show came on channel 31 in new york i always had to move the antena to get a clear picture but to be honest this show was good from 1980 to like 86 it fell apart after that with yo mtv crap and once in a while bet is good but this shows best years was from when it started to 1986 there was a few song after but those where the best years with fat boys man parish hans and davis and freeze and fearlees four very good songs still good to listen to till this day
i was a latchkey kid and would come home anticipating the show. uncle ralphie really took role of uncle for some of us kids..he always had a great attitude, enthusiasm and just an approachable persona. this show was truly influential for me in my youth.
I just turned 40 yrs old,and I am from Strong Island.I remember coming home everyday and watching VMB,and I used to love the opening, and all the vids they played.I have been gone from NY since 91',and i tell you,if you didnt grow up in NY in the 80's ,you missed it kid!! I am in NC now,and i still have vhs tapes with VMB footage on it,and tapes with Mr Magic,Red,Chuck and all kinds of NY radio on it.People would pay big money to get there hands on the stuff I have.Man i miss home!!!!
I'll tell you cats something...I remember coming home back around 91-92, from Junior High/Middle School, just to watch this show.
I saw Ralph McDaniels at my job not to long ago. A super, super GUY!
This show was so before it's time, a million steps above YoMTV raps, which only aired on Saturdays right before or after Head Bangers Ball, and that was after midnight, more around 1am. MTV played no WRAP videos, back in those daze(days) ~~!!~~
When this aired in NYC on Ch. 31 UHF.....that was OUR cable TV back then!! Way too many rappers got their 1st exposure to VMB. Ralph McDaniels need to be inducted in VH1's Hip Hop Honors this year.
my brother and i would play nintendo on 1 tv in the house and turn up a different tv real loud so that we'd know when it was time to cut the nintendo off and enjoy the show. as soon as we heard five minutes of funk instrumental that meant RUN!
I remember it like yesterday making sure my homework was done so I could watch this show. Growing up in brooklyn was so much fun as a kid. Crazy Sam actin a fool in the streets was hilarious lol!
LOL!!!! I remember watching the show like it was my last day of living!! It was our part of life that the new generation will never had the chance to understand how HIP HOP started !! Who remembered when Crazy Sam did his cut and yelled, "My....Glasses"!!!!! lol.... his glasses broke and was crooked!!! lmao! Emotional rememberance!
I remember me and my sisters and all the kids in the neighborhood use to run home after school to make sure we were home in time to watch Video Music Box. Loved it and miss watching old videos.
yo ralph played my video for the first time last week" I jus luv " It was a major moment to see myself on the box big up to Ralph still breakin new music
MAN!!! I used to live in Norwalk CT. And I used to plan my weekends with video music box. I went to just about ever spot or party they were at. I miss those days. Tha Mark Ballroom.
YO I AM SO NOT IN THE MIX. I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THIS. EVER SINCE I MOVED TO HOUSTON I'VE BEEN MISSING EVERYTHING NYC. Luckily I broke up with my ex-fiance, so I'll be glad to come back to BK, bed-stuy all day!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS VIDEO MUSIC BOX! OMG! I USE TO RUN HOME EVERYDAY AFTER SCHOOL TO WATCH THIS @ 3:30pm. WE DIDNT HAVE CABLE, SO YOU USED TO HAVE TO TURN YOUR TV CHANNEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LAST CHANNEL (UHF) AND THEN USE THE OTHER KNOB TO GET TO CHANNEL 31 (a lil foil on the antenna usually helped---lol) THEN WE WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THE HOTTEST VIDEO TO COME ON SO YOU CAN POP IN YOUR VHS TAPE AND RECORD ALL THE HOTTEST VIDEOS.(wow those were the days) THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES UNCLE RALPH...BLESSES!
I was there along with my homegirl Sherry & her boyfriend.
I must say, it was incredible with live performances by, Chubb Rock, DJ Hollywood, Luv Bug Starski, Naughty By Nature, The Sugarhill Gang featuring Melle Mel (who was looking pretty sharp in his red hat, vest & matching pants), Nice & Smooth, Special Ed, Milk D & Gizmo (rapping on Top Billin), Dana Dane, Schooly D and a few others. I almost forgot Kool Herc was in the building!!! It was a great show that lasted 3 hours!
Yeah thats INCREDIBLE, I grew up on this show back in NYC. We used to come home and turn to Channel 31. All through Highschool and elementary. Thanks Uncle Ralph and Vid Kid for inspiring me.
