I've had this PSU for over a year, it hasn't failed at all, but..my biggest complaint is actually the rebate, YOU WILL NEVER GET IT ! I WAS to get a $80 rebate no dice ! I hope it doesn't blow up, I'm going to 2X EVGA GTX 480 SLI, if the PSU goes, I'll go with Corsair or Antec .
According to SpeedFan 4.39 my -12v rail is -16.97 as well + my -5v is -8.78 do you know if this would cause random crashes and restarts and if there is any way to remedy it? my psu is a Corsair 750TX so if its broken i could send it in but im not sure if that means its broken
well I BELIEVE watts... correct me if im wrong, but Watts is a measurement of how far electricity can travel..... i.e. 9v, 900w would travel farther than 9v, 100w...
@yeti6593 , Hi watch my other reviews on PSU's I have reviewed modular PSU's also which essentially means the cables are not attached to the PSU. You chose the cables you need .
Looks like a nice PSU. Do you think btw that the new enermax 92% efficient ratings are actually true or bs? I'm about to build a expensive rig for my mate and usually I'd choose the HX1000w like I have (An advantage is that apparently all teh Rev85+ PSUs all also future-proofed for possible new connectors for GPUs etc).
Also when will you have some nvidia/intel stuff to play with? :P
Answer as an automationelectrician: over 90% is possible but very unlikely in computer PSU. If there really is over 90% effiency in some point, its not very long term, only in some wattage/usage. It's efficient to buy a bigger supply than needed but not too powerful. Best effiency is 60-80% load in many cases. =)
i need some help deciding how much wattage i need. i currently have a 500w and idk what to do. i have a 9800gtx, and dont wanna really say other stats unless you wanna help me.
For 1 it's 9800GTX is fine (try to get 500-600 watt) but the 500 watt will support it no problem but if you want for a later upgrade of 2 way sli get 750-850 watt.
if u know how to do cable management its not really a problem - u just have a little thicker string whihc goes directly behind the motherboard tray...
and u can sleeve ALL cables together, untill they're behind the moBo tray & then u just get one thick worm which doesnt really looks bad, actually better if it would be thin...
Why are your idle voltages higher than your load volts?

my -12v is acctually -16.97v is this bad?
uut0 2 years ago
@uut0 , that does nto sound right, should be anywhere from 11volts to 13volts, thats too high.
PCWizKid 2 years ago
is there anything that i can do about it except changing the psu?
uut0 2 years ago
It's really a shame that they decided to cheap out on the capacitors in the Ripper
(They use "REC" brand capacitors on the primary)
Everything else about it is pretty good

To put it in simple terms: If you don't have enough power to run your computer, it won't work.
NuMb3r1PuNjAbI94 2 years ago
all you need to know is that with a power supply that's too weak , your computer's going to bust.
I recently bought a new video card and it fried 3 of my power supplies.

what would be the first thing you should buy when trying to upgrade your existing pc to a gaming pc?
maaaaanny 2 years ago
Depends on what parts you have already to upgrade. Most people will upgrade the CPU and Video Card first.
PCWizKid 2 years ago
but wouldn't i need the power supply before the video card?
maaaaanny 2 years ago
It depends on how old your power supply is. Maybe not.
PCWizKid 2 years ago
its about 2 years old. but i dont think its a high watt power supply.
maaaaanny 2 years ago
You will probably need to get a new one, you probably will not need something this powerful
AirForce194 2 years ago
My 300w PSU is doing just fine with my video card. :D and it's pretty decent.
hellstudios 2 years ago
But what video card do you have? The brand of Power supply and the video card make a huge difference.
AirForce194 2 years ago
The Video card usally, but it depends on what you already have. I can help you if you tell me your specs.

i suggest you put more ram. you have a great cpu. and use a solid state drive to run cooler and faster.

Not really it's cheap and all but it is really reliable as a Core i7 PSU i have had one for 4 months no problems but maybe i lucked out =/
Plus modular doesn't matter since after your 60$ rebate it cost 100$ in total :)
