  • @darkwraith how about Liam neeson for the role?

  • Loved that show! even had a catrige video game too. had it

  • Gene Hunt - Manchester. This is New York love.

  • @adminelf LOL, you're right, just me fantasizing, still could see Gene Hunt on the mean streets of New York though!!

  • love this so much, Gene Hunt should have done this commercial, remember the 80's

  • Feckin new bloods,

  • Try saying Edward Woodward 5 times fast!!!

  • Yooo someone needs to edit this and make this a nice tune, maybe some dubstep?

  • @dickie808 i think the last thing anyone wants to hear is a bunch of faggoty dubstep fuckcrap. dub step is like electro's retarded cousin. it doesn't know when to stfu.

  • Its Been awhile but again RIP Edward - Best of British

  • Ah One of the best EVER Tv programmes made. Real pity there's NOTHING liike that these day's.

  • That's what I'd call an ass kicking soundtrack!

  • Can anyone please tell me what type of synth is used that comes in at the 30 second mark? I'm like obsessed with that synth line haha reminds me of boc. Awesome music.

  • In my opinion, it's better that Denzel Washington should play the Robert McCall role than Russell Crowe. McCall's character is deeper than the usual action hero who simply relies on muscle or firepower to get the job done so whoever takes his role should be able to act aside from being able to do stunts.

  • this was brilliant and Edward Woodward was the fucking man R.I.P EWA WOOWA!

  • Imagine if this was the theme to Carnivale or something.

  • @mrwill2001 He didn't beat them up. He'd shoot to kill them motherfuckers!

  • Legendary, this is so dark how its shot, just straight off the wall, wot I luv bout so many things in the 70s and 80s. Not like today where everything is, lets close off a whole block, lets put sum green screen in here, lets do take after take, after take, until "we" feel its perfect. This fuckin cynical age we live in!! Fucking get sum of "The Equalizer" down ya!!!

  • Probably the best intro music ever. Punchy, complex, scary, dramatic, heroic, all in one minute.

    Well done Stuart Copeland.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest It's amazing, isn't it? the most bad ass intro and music for a t.v show I think I've ever seen.

  • "Put down.... the gun."

Ewar Woowar's acting could be a little 'woodward'en - but what a series!

Look up the Ewar Woowar reference... it is very funny!

  • I can't believe they're re-making this with Denzel Washington. That's like re-making Shaft and making him white!

  • Say what you want about Chuck Norris, but back in the day, NOBODY messed with this guy.

  • When I'm listening to music and the Bass, Mid and Treble settings seem a little out of whack, this is the guy I call......

  • Got a problem? Odds against you? Need help? Call the Equalizer 212-656-9878

  • RIP Edward Woodward.amazing actor and an awesome show

  • Amazing intro and show.

  • The Equalizer, aka Callan takes early retirement and grows a conscience.

  • its so intense, awesome theme.

  • Oh nice, was stored still in my oldest sounds memory. Thanks twice

  • wow!

  • Whoever dislikes this want their head looking at. This is a QUALITY tune. Programe was top notch too!

  • el justiciero¡¡¡ ERA UNA DE MIS SERIES FAVORITAS... ESTA VINO DESPUES DE MACGYVER Y LOS MAGNIFICOS¡¡ pero me encantaba¡¡¡¡ LA MEJOR DE TODAS LAS SERIES¡¡ este señor era mi superheroe de adolescencia¡¡¡

  • It's amazing how this theme song sounds like the theme from "The Amanda Show".

  • Besidez da beat from Knight Rider, this was my fave Opening Credit instrumental of the 80's!!LOL S**t, I neva even watched the show back in NY; But I can alwayz rememba tuning in just 2 watch it come on...

  • wish they would release the entire series 1-4 on dvd

  • Comment removed

  • Great theme tune and great actor. Mr Woodward was fantastic in this

  • The Hardest pensioner ever on TV, I just loved this show and theme tune is just brill.

  • Why does Edward Woodward have Ds in his name? Because otherwise he'd be called, "Ewar Woowar."

  • Maybe it's just me, but the way the intro is cut kinda makes it look like it's a show about a stalker/rapist...

  • @Plastitute lol brilliant take

  • @Plastitute That's what i thought the show was about. But, but to be fare, i only saw one episode on Spike a very long while back that was about rapists and a guy trying to hunt down his wife's rapists.

  • @Plastitute Oh no, stalkers and rapists are exactly the people the Equalizer will fuck up with no regard!

  • @Plastitute The show is about a vigilante helping the vulnerable, but in a slightly less violent way than Charles Bronson's "Death Wish" series of films. The intro reflects the dark nature of human society and shows people in vulnerable situations, exactly what the show was about. VERY good TV series....no doubt someday (if it hasn't been done already) some typical shit "money maker" hollywood re-make will be done.

  • @Plastitute How do you get that?..... The intro is to make youll that if you are in that situation that the equalizer will help - or - Equalize. What did you expect? an intro with tanned blonde dumbfucks screaming oh noes he stole my purse?? Sorry but go back to watching scripted bollox like Towie or Jerseyshoregonnathrowupwatchingthis.

  • I love the way they made New York seem like an absolute fucking hellhole full or rapists and wankers and nothing more... Edward Woodward made a trench coat seem cool 15 years before Burberry cashed in on it ,D

  • @mitjakaramatsov New York was a hellhole in the '80s. Street crime was through the roof back then. Crime went right down in the '90s, though.

  • @funkateer17 really? i went to new york in 1986 and wasnt a hell hole full of crime maybe we went to a alt new york lol

  • @mikekaraoke What parts did you venture into? The South Bronx? Harlem? Washington Heights? Bed-Stuy? Brownsville? Queensbridge? Park Hill? I thought not.

  • @funkateer17 haha, none of them went to Manhattan,Queens,Brooklyn,

  • Denzel Washington might be the main character in the movie version....a black dude playing a TV cop lol.

  • ive heard a different version

  • Edwoodwoodwoodwood

  • I know! His parents couldn't have chosen a better name to go with the surname Woodward. My complaint was that there were always too many damn Ws.

  • i thought this was a football show

  • rip edward woodward

  • great series and still watch the repeats

  • @maccamenzies1 Well worth getting series 1 on DVD.

  • This was by far best show on 1980's television! Nowadays vigilante spy shows like "burn notice" are a dime a dozen

  • How could a old man beats up people in the streets that are younger than him

  • because is Ed Woodward who is kicking criminal's asses...that why!

  • best theme tune ever along with knight rider. Think stuart copeland from the police wrote this or the other one who isnt sting!!

  • Good ol times , i miss this , God bring back this time ,

  • person of interest is the updated version of this, ex special forces agent helping out people in danger.

  • what do you call a man with four planks of wood on his head?

.... i dont know, but Edward Woodwood would

  • I think the ex dire straits guitarist Hal Lindes , wrote this music????

  • This show kinda made Jaguar popular

  • Comment removed

  • This would have been a great intro for a Batman Tv Series. A dark batman, like the original comic books.

Batman is much tougher than a senior citizen leaving his car headlights on.

  • @buffboynick You're wrong there, mate. Ex secret agent/special forces versus a little rich kid that dresses up in silly suits. Robert McCall = Nails.

  • @Scottmachin

He may have been tough when he was a young man, but not here lol.

I would just kick his walker out from underneath him or have the nurse at his nursing home pull the feeding tube to beat him in a fight lol.

  • we need a few Equalizers around Manchester to waste a few wankers going around

  • @GSIBOSS Can you send them to North Wales to waste the drug dealers who are wrecking it?

  • Absolutely loved this as a kid, awesome intro + theme tune. Who'd have thought if u were up to no good on the streets of 80's new York, a 65 yr old posh British dude would pull up in his jag, and shoot u to pieces with a PPK??!!??

  • As a kid, I always thought that the old man would get beat up in at least one episode

  • men of the long walk calling..we passed by olearys cows chuing the cude them be eatin the hay...but this to say speah to wolly jumper, good man, good bank..belly on tube mybe could see,the space ace, race or bring to other place.men of the long walk who tikkel toes that pass....blue face long grass, bare ass go on work together as one.

  • I was only four when this started, but can still remember the theme song from way back when it cam on the TV yesterday... Awesome!

  • I MISS THE 80'SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS DAMMMMMMMITTTTTTT!!!!!

  • loved this show

  • the best intro ever, never gave a shit about the show but I would always watch the intro then turn. lol

  • @de0ndre dude same here

  • no wonder bad guys are afraid of him. he has that typical old fashioned english school headmaster look about him.....

  • I loved this show ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

  • wtf do women just get raped in this, thats all the intros telling me..sex perverts

  • @malt8291 There are a few rape episodes of The Equalizer, but just a few.

  • @malt8291 It's not just rape, there's the guy stuck in the phone box at 0:18 , though to be fair that was a slow episode.

  • Edward Woodward tv legend.

  • Quality!!

  • Absolutely brilliant intro

  • Should I die gentlemen, I want this played at my funeral...really loud.

I was hoping Stuart Copeland, Sting and Andy would have played one original when I last saw THE POLICE. But there wasnt enough time.

Very edgy tune Mr Copeland, you are a musical genius.

  • Awesome intro!

  • the best

  • I had a crush on Edward Woodward.

  • Great great great soundtrack - full on 80's all pumped up and somewhere to go !

    Loved this series

  • In my opinion the best theme music of all time.

  • @HammerLex77

    ...must come very close sir.

  • @HammerLex77 hell yeah Stewart Copeland wrote it

  • Edward Woodward would, would you?

  • badass dude

  • superb!

  • One day they'll remake this as a movie but sadly screw it up.They'll get someone like Russel Crowe who is now gray and older looking to play the part.Nothing against Mr Crowe but even older he still looks like a dangerous man. What made this so great was that Edward Woodward didn't look like the dangerous character he was playing. He looked like your English teacher in high school, not the dangerous ex gov't spy guy.Which is what made him so much dangerous.

  • this needs to be remade.......

  • Hahahaha, there's a joke someone once said to me that had Edward Woodward in it =P

Cool music, looks cheesy though even for 80's =)

  • @Johny40Se7en I'll bet this is the joke: What do you call Edward Woodward if you take all the 'w''s out of his name? Edard oodard

  • @neil73 No that's not it, thankfully haha =P

  • @Johny40Se7en I probably got it wrong - I know the joke makes no sense, but then again, I am in the U.K lol!

  • Mom called this The 20th Century Version of Have Gun, Will Travel.

  • Even better than i remember. Timeless!

  • yes, this are the 80´s.... dark at all....:D

  • Absolutely, two thumbs up!

  • i would say this is the second best theme of all time

the persuaders is IMO the best theme ever

  • @dlamiss Agreed the Persuaders is real hair at the back of the neck stuff

  • @dlamiss got to be shitting me? i've just seen the persuaders intro.... its fucking gay man! LOL

i know this is an immature way of putting it, but for god sake dude its so true .

  • ATTENTION (TheRationalizer) : Your pitiful attempt to block me from comment was inherently unfair since you dropped the "F" BOMB on me for no good reason. And your accusation of 'threat by proxy' was merely YOUR method of retreating from the dialogue. I OWNED YOU ! MUSLIMS 1 ---- TheRationalizer 0 Psych !!!

  • like this if u think this is one of the best theme tunes ever!

  • Yep - A Jaguar XJ Series 3 - coolest kick ass guy with the coolest car! When we we're kids we all waned to be The Equalizer! The simply can't make shows this good anymore...

  • legend!!!!!

  • Is that car a Jaguar?

  • This show was the bollocks

  • The new show on CBS "Person of interest" with Jim Caviezel reminds me alot of the Equalizer.

  • If only the police could protect us as well as this guy!

  • THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW.IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CANCELED SO SOON IN 1989.

  • My favourite tv show ever ... cmon release the other seasons on dvd!

  • Would be an awesome ringtone?

  • You don't fuck with the Equalizer, lest ye be equalized!

  • this theme sends a shiver's up my spine it's a dark piece of music

  • He was great in 'Callan' also. He could have played James bond after Sean connery.

  • Mr Copeland, tip my hat forever.

  • I used to love this intro

  • I like how the guy at 0:41 is closing in like a wolf ready for the kill (not knowing that McCall already started tipping the scales back at like, 0:27 or somewhere 'round about), and then McCall's there waiting in the alley, and he's all like, "Uh-huh - Equalizer, bitch, now what? Get in the car miss, I got this."

The next few moments were so epic, they shut down the entire intro.

  • Thumbs up if this intro scared you as a kid!

  • The greatest intro to any tv show ever!

  • This is the first time I see this in cool.. but what is this series about? it never reached México

    =(

  • @jorasave The series stars British actor Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a former secret agent of an unnamed organization, which was often referred to simply as "The Agency" or "The Company", who tries to atone for past sins by offering, free of charge, his services as a troubleshooter (often literally), a protector, and an investigator. People in need find him through a newspaper ad: "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer. 212 555 4200".

  • @HarryClarkson Wow you know a lot about it thank you !!

  • @HarryClarkson Its not an unnamed organization. "The Company" is a well known slang term for the CIA (also sometimes referred to as simply "The Agency" for short.

  • Mid 80s TV series intros, we never had it better.

  • just a fantastic theme and intro

  • I'm not sure why the Americans hate us Brits but we hate them because the majority of them are a bunch of uneducated morons who think the world starts and ends with them and they have a right to police it. And they have the nerve to call British dental hygeine - you ever seen The Jerry Springer Show?

  • WISH THEY STILL DID PROGRAMMES LIKE THIS!

  • WAS THAT THE 'BLACKPOOL ORGAN' THEY BORROWED FOR THE MUSIC

  • WAS THAT THE 'BLACKPOOL ORGAN' THEY BORROWED FOR THE MUSIC

  • this intro is quality and the show was quality i never missed it on a sunday night

  • What a great show! Anyone remember when he killed a guy in a bathroom with a coat hook?!

  • Written by Stewart Copeland, the drummer of "The Police" pop group

  • Reminds me of the NYPD Blue theme.

  • McCall didn't need ace fighting skills. He used sarcasm.

  • The guy responsible for the music intro and the background music of the episodes is Stewart Copeland-the drummer of the 80's rock band "The Police". U can see his name at the credits on each episodes. Luv d music, the series and "The Police"...

  • WWEWD!

  • YESSSSSSSSS THIS IS THE SHIT! I LOVE THIS SHOW THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IT UP ON YOUTUBE XXXXX

  • Where are the real people in this world that try to make a difference?

Close your eyes and maybe you will find one or two still willing to stand up for truth.

He was brilliant in this it made me as a child think that there was an equaliser everywhere and in fact I think there is when we need them.

Amazing writing superb actor may God rest his soul

  • thats the most Baddest Intro Ever Love it!!!

  • i love the idea of some old english bloke going round slotting crims . t.v is shite now.

  • I watched this religiously during my teens, it was the highlight of the week and I loved this theme tune, I would record it onto a handheld dictaphone and then play it back, trying to emulate it on my synth. Edward Woodward was immense, God rest his soul.

  • Epic tune, good show. The bad boy In Karate Kid was his son.

  • i remember this show

  • He kinda looks like Michael Caine...

  • @ImmortalfireTheMod They actually had two small roles together as government officals. In the 1982 movie The Final Option about the SAS. It's a very drawn out & boring movie. But the last 10-12 mins kick ass! It's on youyube check it out. The soundtrack was aweome also.

  • @ImmortalfireTheMod Dude he does i use to say the same thing what the hell are you my twin?? you fucker where the hell were you all these years???

  • eat the wicker man

  • Have a nice day dirtbags!

    See you soon!

  • I was 8 years old when this came out.me and my Grandfather love this

  • Robert McCall was the most badass British agent that ever lived.

He would make James Bond cry like a little bitch.

  • I was only 8 when this was on and the music use to petrify me!

  • @misskoutsofta I was toooo!!! OOps, Im telling my age LOL. That was the damn show. I remember what I was doing and where I lived as a little one. Time flies. 80's era is gone, but I think my next birthday party will be 80's themed. Music and clothes. Good ole days, good times. I get the damn chills when I think about the days back then. When you could play in the neighborhood and everyone watched out for each others kids. Now your neighbor may kill you and your kids and bury you under the floor.

  • Ghandi 2!

  • i loved this show when it was on

  • Loved this programme, and the music!

  • @2000ferrarifan What ho old chap! You stick it to those colonists. Ra!

  • This was a top show when i was a kid the Equalizer theme tune was the dogs bollocks top tune.
