Sports deaths are bound to happen. The man knew the dangers of the sport before he got on the sled. It's sad, but reality.Just because you're an "engineer" doesn't mean you're a bobsled expert.
your toatlly right, its like skipping marble down a hallway, what happends when it hits the walls or a dead end, bounces hard and goes off course. think bowling, curling, gun barrels, etc...
If it was such a bad design, then why did all the guys practicing before Nodar make it down? It was just a tragic accident. And blaming Canada because it happened when we hosted the games is just stupid. How would you like it if this happened when YOUR country hosted and the rest of the world started bashing you? Grow up.
Before you create a video as serious as this, do some research. First of all, its luge. VERY DIFFERENT FROM BOBSLED. Second of all, all tracks have the 90 degree walls in all straightaways, unless its a chicane, which is a technical feature and meant to be challenging. And if it was curved like you said, many people would've been ejected from the track. I've seen many people come out of that corner and hit right there.
LOL fucking idiot...course designed by American....and only one fatal accident......other courses have had more fatal accidents, why are you making videps about them.....ill tell you why, coz you're a fucking loud mouthed dickhead who thinks everyone is interested in your stupid mis-informed opinion...fuck of and die.
i have his real death video. "/watch?v=0Tq_kHX98_M" write youtube (.) com in your browser bar and paste this at the end to see what really happened and not just some pictures.
@R8FME , I hear you bud. Most, if not all, of the other luge participants made it through the course. A tragic accident to be sure. But the the course design and other critique didn't appear until after the accident. By boring videos like this one.
Sports are dangerous. Lots of people die playing various sports, including kids being hit in the chest by baseballs. Please at the VERY least learn the name of the sport before you start critisizing the experts that design the tracks. Any competitive sport at this level has a risk reward relationship, and this extreamly unfortunate event is part of this, and he knew it as some of his last words to his father were "I'll risk it." Rest in peace good sir.
Frst off its luge. second, If you knew anything about the courses, not just that Whistler one but other courses all over the world you'd see that there are those 90 degree sides in every single one. It doesn't matter if they come right after a big turn or not, every single course has them. Do your research next time. It's a tragedy what happened and it really shouldn't be a subject for you to make random claims on.
you have absoutly no idea what you are talking about, take a look at some other track pictures. every single track has round curves and squared off straightaways. Nodar died because he was only sliding for 2 years, was in experirnced and made the most rookie mistake you can make in luge, he went into the last curve with his feet on the ice and in a sport where you drive with your feet thats like letting go of th steering wheel in the car. 1 in a million accident no engineer could have predicted
Wow. For one thing no track in the world is completely curved. You are absolutely wrong and invalidated. Strait sections are MANDATED. Also, to call a luger a bob athlete is extremely insulting. You are tragic, tragic.... I slide for NOMAR.
as a mechanical engineer, hearing you talk makes me realize how stupid the general population is... regardless of your "limited experience" in engineering classes
You don't even understand how Luge works dumbass plus it's not BOBSLED, first I'm very sorry to see the tragic accident but it's all under the luger himself to control the sleigh. He over turned the corner to the point he lost control and went over the railing and lost his life, may he rest in peace! If you were a luger yourself like I you wouldn't be on this acting like you know to break a CURVE as you keep repeating, it's not called the curve.
shut the hell up! who the hell do you think you are? our Olympics were awsome! the only reason he died is because he wasnt a trained athelete. he was a noob that didnt know what he was doing. Jesus. just cause your country does'nt have anyone in the olympics. and by the way nice head lol are you storing a bomb in their? lololololololol
fuck you!!! your a dumb ass, mother fucking asshole. go fuck yourself you bitch. you show no respect for someone would died. i hope you have kids that get raped and murdered right infront of you. FUCK YOU
LOL, your probably just saying that cause your Russian you fag. And nice comeback to! ill bet that took you all night to think of that. Odds are you already have kids and already raped them yourself. Lol thats funny but thanks for replying!
Well, it has been dubbed the most dangerous course. Its dangerous, yeah, there have been a few accidents, yeah, but it was mostly driver error I think, a lot of people have come out safely after all.
i believe the point of bobsled luge is to keep your speed coming out of the corners and control, a) having a straight away with a curved wall would make it more likely to hold speed and less about the control, theys athletes doing this event the Olympics are the best of the best from there country's, they should have the knowledge experience to understand the risks involved, tragic mishap just shows thou the level theys people are on and what can happen if not taken serious
BAD TRACK DESING YOUR A FUCKING RETAAARD. TAKE A LOOK AT THE SPORT THERE IS MANY MANY INTENSE CRASHES AND DEATHS IN THIS SPORT. ITS FUCKING DANGEROUS VANCOUVERS TRACK WAS VERY FAST BUT NOONE TRAINING ON IT FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS HAD ANY PROBLEMS, SO YOU IGNORANT RETARDS WHO SAY ITS CAUSE OF THE TRACK IS DUMB AS FUCK. ITS BECAUSE OF AN AMATUER SLIDER PUSHING IT TO HARD. YES ITS SAD BUT ITS NOT THE TRACKS FAULT YOU FUCKING DUMBBBBBBBBBB FUCK. YOU RACE 137 kM AN HOUR ON A SLED OVER ICE WHAT DO YOU EX
Yes, padding wouldn't have done any good. I just wish they would have made the wall twice the height it was. Or run a wall down the sides of the track similar to what they use in hockey arenas there so if there was a crash, the rider would have stayed onto the track and slid down the wall. It's likely an injury will still happen at that speed, but far less than hitting a pole.
fuck you u idiot u are what is wrong with the world these ppl know what they r getting into he must be one of the only ppl to die in this event in over 30 years bad luck to him but fuck you
no, but please tell me how in the fuck is someone who comes off a fucking curve at 145 kmh an d has to sraight get into a fucking straight away. there has to be a periood where he gains control again then to the nexxt curve. why the fuck do u think they didnt use that course anymore. "THEY SAY IT WAS HIS OWN FAULT" is that way the course is banned. he just doesn want to get his ass sued.
@siriuslyaddicted18 America is an always be the greatest country no matter what any drunkin bufooin says. Take the blown call by the idiot that cost the American's the title just because of stupid referee's bad call!!!! What is that. Is the whold country in on bashing American because we were the better team that day......It;s just plain idiotic!! and typical of the way they do things over there, if they can;s win by being better, they do it by cheating!!! That is the character of the country.
hey dude it was designed by an american. second of all why didn't all the Luger athletes plunge to their deaths. so it isn't the course's fault at all.
one more thing, i get the whole mishap on the opening.. but wth is with the comment on the mens downhill being postponed because of slush? its canada's fault for not being able to control the weather now? =_____= good one.
Let's have respect for the person whose life was lost and his family. These random things happen. Hopefully we learn something and his life was not in vain. let me rephrase that. im saying it wasnt Nodar's OR Canada's fault. its just the track design. i mean im sure Nodar didnt want that to happen, and Canada didnt either.
hey. show some respect A-hole. if he wasn't good at the luge he wouldn't have made it to THE OLYMPICS. why don't u tell that to the man's family and see how that goes.
you fucking retared ignorant asshole ,,"lack of skill" everybody makes mistakes because we are human and I only pray to meet such ignorant assholes like you so i can kill you and stab a knife in your throat scumbag
yeah curve the whole track so when he comes down that left bank and towards the right bank with that speed we'll just call him superman cause he/she will be flying through the air. think before you speak.
so lets shape the inside wall of the track like a ramp...hmmm...say it to yourself a few times...see if it sinks in..90mph...ramp...90mph..ramp...OHHHH
@ItsMeJynx Yeah, which is like other tracks, as opposed to this: 90mph...wall...air...metal post..bang...90mph...wall...air...metal post...bang.. OHHH I SEE
You make it seem like you know it all you ignorant fuck. if you knew so much you would realize that it wasnt bobsledding it was luge you fucking idiot! For your next video i recommend that you dont say one word a million fucking times and buddy stop trying to talk smart no one can take you seriously when you have no eyebrows. just a few tips for your ignorant ass
okay. for one thing. the track itself has nothing wrong with it. Nodar went around that turn at around 144km/h and went too high up on the turn before he crashed, and that straight away, is suppose to be a 90 degree angle. it has nothing to do with "Poor engineering".
I'm Canadian, and I don't think they should have had the winter Olympics in Vancouver this year...not enough snow. I can see them having the summer Olympics here in Canada, but winter? Nah. I'm from Nova Scotia and I know that there isn't nearly as much snow here as we normally get by this time of year. RIP Nodar. Sorry for your loss :'(
its not their fault. they replaced the old track incase it has cracks or might break.the poles are to support the ceiling of the viewing area for ppl. the sled lost control from not being able to regain balance+ stability after the fast turn so the guy was flung off by force. it was the speed gained from Nodar's progress at the beginning that made the sled unstable afterwards. put urself in Canada's place and see how u feel being blamed for an unintended accident.
dude stfu, all the three examples were accidents. And that's not at all what happened. He started going too fast, and the G-Forces were too high for him to look up and slow down.
what the fuck with all these gay videos. No one cares about ur opinon on the accident when they search Nodar Kumaritashvili fatal accident. Stop making these comment videos so we can actually see the video of the crash.
If the entire course was curved you would be able to run up the sides at any point. That makes no sense. The walls are designed that way to slow you down if you make contact with them.
The walls are vertical to keep the luger, skeleton racers and bobsleighers in the chute in the event of a crash or or loss of control. It's too bad you gave a very poor example of how the track is made. Did you consider the fact that other lugers have made it down the track fine (some crashes but not fatal). And all lugers, skeletons and sleighers are on the track and competing at faster speeds without difficulty.
Yes it's a difficult course. Yet, why aren't you saying anything about the Georgian Oly commitee for letting their inexperienced athlete compete at the olympics? It's tragic yes, and no accident in a sport should be fatal. But we can not blame VANOC or Oly engineers for the tradgety.
Lastly, I think we should all be grateful for what the Olys bring to the world. Instead of bashing an amazing opening ceremony and conditions that are not under our control (such as 'slush' and weather conditions in Whistler). Good luck to all athletes!
Idiot. He lost control before the turn you Buffoon. Your background in "civil engineer" does not make you an expert on luge track design. You also fail as a video analyst explaining the crash completely wrong.
The one thing I can say is there should have been more protection for the athlete. i.e. padding on the medal pole he hit.
Also, maybe you could change the weather to help with the snow conditions. Or drive some in on a truck. Not easy to host the Olympic games.
"The International Luge Federation (FIL) and the Games organizers said in a statement that the accident was a result of human error and there was no indication of track deficiencies."
I assume you know more than them? thx for ur opinion but not a very educated one.
finally, if you actually had watched a video of it, you would see that nodar is going almost totally sideaways in the corner before the exit... but i guess thats due to "bad engineering" huh?
and if you havent figured it out yet, these luges can be steered and countless athletes have done it right countless times. its not a fucking joy ride at the waterpark dumbo.
hahaha, just read your "david letterman agrees with me" comments. as if this guy being a public figure gives him any credibility when it comes to engineering. you're retarded beyond belief.
i guess mr. letterman agreeing with you flatters your overinflated ego though, and its all that matters really. enjoy life in your sad little fantasy world. bye.
Actually they bulid the track with square walls so they DO bounce back into the track, its a shame he then bounced out the other side. Think about it, if they had curved walls like you say he would have come out of the previous turn where he had a really high line and he would head straight down into a launch ramp and would get shot into the crowd with his luge and possibly kill himself and some spectators. Sorry that your A4 paper model didnt show you that!
What do you know about luging potato head? LOL.....you might as well be giving swimming instructions or an instructional course on driving racing cars. WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT GUTS?
This guy isn't a course designer... what a doofus... yes, it's a horrible accident, but no there isn't anyone to blame. The luger's best finish was 43rd - perhaps he wasn't qualified to be on this course??
This kind of comment is what I don't like about this knucklehead: he's all about dramatic statements and having the last word; if he feels like you've slighted him personally, he deletes your comment and blocks you, but he'll certainly call you names first. And then, if you read the comment below, he's happily making money off of the discussion of somebody's death, and is clearly proud of it! What a screwed up perspective. The hypocrisy and ignorance shown here, by him, is astounding.
Sports deaths are bound to happen. The man knew the dangers of the sport before he got on the sled. It's sad, but reality.Just because you're an "engineer" doesn't mean you're a bobsled expert.

no courses are curved on straight aways they are all right angles

you have a funny shaped head
birum18 2 years ago 3
hey retard the outrun(where the LUGER finishe his/her run) is a straight away therefore it has right angles like every luge track in the world.

yanick7792 2 years ago
shut up its his fault not the tracks so f u
jokerboy9898 2 years ago
okay. for one thing. the track itself has nothing wrong with it.

RIP Nodar. Sorry for your loss :'(
Zades158 2 years ago
Perhaps they should have relocated it at the last minute despite 7 years of planning and preparation.
Also, in case you're unaware, Canada hosted the winter Olympics in '88 in Calgary.
DKNUCKLES 2 years ago
its not their fault. they replaced the old track incase it has cracks or might break.the poles are to support the ceiling of the viewing area for ppl. the sled lost control from not being able to regain balance+ stability after the fast turn so the guy was flung off by force. it was the speed gained from Nodar's progress at the beginning that made the sled unstable afterwards. put urself in Canada's place and see how u feel being blamed for an unintended accident.
SolerAcconciForever 2 years ago
@SolerAcconciForever
I also hear other athletes crashing at that course. So, I'm not sure if it's entirely Nodar's fault.
bananian 2 years ago
dude stfu, all the three examples were accidents. And that's not at all what happened. He started going too fast, and the G-Forces were too high for him to look up and slow down.
STFU.

And all lugers, skeletons and sleighers are on the track and competing at faster speeds without difficulty.

iRydeLines 2 years ago
Yes it's a difficult course. Yet, why aren't you saying anything about the Georgian Oly commitee for letting their inexperienced athlete compete at the olympics? It's tragic yes, and no accident in a sport should be fatal. But we can not blame VANOC or Oly engineers for the tradgety.
NBGecko2 2 years ago
Lastly, I think we should all be grateful for what the Olys bring to the world. Instead of bashing an amazing opening ceremony and conditions that are not under our control (such as 'slush' and weather conditions in Whistler). Good luck to all athletes!
NBGecko2 2 years ago
Spiess2007 2 years ago
how do you change the weather?????? :/

"The International Luge Federation (FIL) and the Games organizers said in a statement that the accident was a result of human error and there was no indication of track deficiencies."
I assume you know more than them? thx for ur opinion but not a very educated one.
draconite420 2 years ago 4
finally, if you actually had watched a video of it, you would see that nodar is going almost totally sideaways in the corner before the exit... but i guess thats due to "bad engineering" huh?
and if you havent figured it out yet, these luges can be steered and countless athletes have done it right countless times. its not a fucking joy ride at the waterpark dumbo.

hahaha, just read your "david letterman agrees with me" comments. as if this guy being a public figure gives him any credibility when it comes to engineering. you're retarded beyond belief.
i guess mr. letterman agreeing with you flatters your overinflated ego though, and its all that matters really. enjoy life in your sad little fantasy world. bye.
joyfulvulture 2 years ago
shut up you dumb fucking nigger. the german engineers who designed this track have done SIX olympic luge sites already, and who knows how many more.
but here you come with your "a few engineering classes" and think you know something about luge track designing... LOL.
typical narcissistic nigger who thinks he's "all that" but in reality is just a dumbass with the IQ of a lawnmower. thanks for the laugh.
joyfulvulture 2 years ago
Actually they bulid the track with square walls so they DO bounce back into the track, its a shame he then bounced out the other side. Think about it, if they had curved walls like you say he would have come out of the previous turn where he had a really high line and he would head straight down into a launch ramp and would get shot into the crowd with his luge and possibly kill himself and some spectators. Sorry that your A4 paper model didnt show you that!

TheRainman5566 2 years ago
