  • Story of my life!! Just tonight my yiayias sister, my thea, and my mom wanted to walk me to my car as I was leaving Greek fest, which was just on the other side of the park gate. My great aunt was so scared because it was dark out so she asked the cops to escort us to my car. The look on the cop's face when walked only several feet to my car was priceless. Oh & my yiayia keeps asking when I'm getting married. One thing I do know I'lll have a small wedding of probably 350-400 people.

  • if you want all the best parts, you havta put in the whole movie rotfcopter

  • At 9:34 or so, there is an innuendo. As much as I like this movie, it has its flaws.

  • 4:33 best

  • i love: "IAAAAN!" and "put some windex on it!"

  • Fuck all of u...best movie ever Greek r best ppl

  • and the children nick, nick nick, nick, nick ,nick and nickiii...so funny lol

  • 4 people dont eat no meat!

really how can u dislike this?!

  • Well yes arachnophobia is a greek word..and it is unfortunate that an english speaker may use it without really understanding it..well that is a sad reality for the english language and its speakers, the fact that it needs greek to define itself that is..same stands for the latin language but there are no speakers of the latter..if there were though, i m sure they would first try to understand their own language by learning greek as most educated romans did in the past..

  • @faltsda That is exactly why im learning latin

  • @TheBINIBALL latins a dead language though

  • @summerof1994 thats true but 40% of english is from latin so it improves your vocabulary. And if you want to continue in the arts of math and science(which i do) there are a lot of latin terms in them.

  • @TheBINIBALL But 50% of English has Greek roots so learning Greek would be even more beneficial to improving your English Vocabulary

  • I have a totally different idea bout what a comedy should be(oops, comedy another greek word.)A comedy should indeed be extreme to cause laughter, but not through twisting reality and promoting lies! You see this movie portrays the figure of a clueless illiterate rough cut greek guy that has no clue of what he s saying. That might be the case for many greekamericans, who came to america being poor, illiterate and starving..

  • People like him though are a sad minority. It also sends a (intentional?) message to the (most likely also clueless) viewers of the movie:That is that greeks really talk bout their language driven from some need to prove their value to the (portrayed as) more intellectually evolved members of the american society(that must be the real joke)..

  • So yes it is funny, but its sense of humor(ooops another one) is based(oops another) on a false and naive assumption, that is that the value of the greek language is NOT as important as the greeks would like to believe. The word kimono ofcourse has no relationship with greek, but the movie has the greek guy trying to make up its greek origin..

  • To sum up, i wish there were no relationship between the two languages, but there is, and it is serious one, one that most english speakers ignore. If there was proper education in america,so that the greek language received the respect it rightfully deserves, since it is so related with english(i would dare say english is like a ''grandaughter'' to greek) then this movie could be a decent comedy,

  • but since most american kids get educated through these movies(please dont draw your knives-face reality), this movie necessarily has to be a creation of a naive, uneducated and also jealous(if they do have some linguistic understanding) group, that perceives the greek culture through the limited prism of an arrogant and wealthy tourist that visits greece on a yearly basis to drink beer and dump his crap on our beautiful islands..

  • either that or he must really have been so unlucky to have a retarted greek as a neighbor. It never occured to me that comedy can come out of crap.Well this movie served as a proof that this can really take place!!only in fuckin ''Holly''-''wood'', the wood through which the ''Shaman'' hypnotises and controlls you all..Its a very sad movie really, along with the rest.keep hallucinating.

  • Oh God I love this movie!

  • put some windex on...hahahaha

  • Nice movie. We the Indians are also quite like the other Eastern people like the Greeks. We are also very social and loud and boisterous and proud of our Indian heritage. We hate the Pakistanis, though, not the Turks. But the "vegetarian" thing might be exactly opposite. Many Hindu families are vegetarian and they would be shocked if one's fiance were "meat-eating non-vegetarian"! It would be totally unacceptable to them.

  • I agree, my family is from India, and when I watched this movie, I thought I was watching my family and community!

  • excuse you! first of all: what does Pakistan and Turkey have to do with each other? and second: why would you be so open and proud of your hatred for your neighboring country? shouldn't we all be trying to mend things and getting along rather than igniting hatred and making things worse??!

  • What I was saying, Silversliver, is that just as the Greeks and the Turks hate each other, similarly the Indians and Pakistanis hate each other. There is nothing to be proud of it. We the Indians have always wanted peace and cooperation, but Pakistan was founded on unnatural Hinduphobia and it hates everything about India and commits terrorism against us in Kashmir and elsewhere.

  • I don't think you have all of your facts here. You're using lots of generalizations. How can you speak for all Indian? It takes two. Obviously there was a reason for partition. I know for a fact (from academic articles, books and even Hindi movies) that Muslims are discriminated against in India as well. So of course there is discrimination against Indians in Pakistan too. If you want to talk about Kashmir have a look at the Hindi movie Mission Kashmir.

  • In that movie it is the Indian army who attack an innocent village on the pretense of terrorists. You say you're not proud of the hate, but you're all too willing to place blame on "the other side" which is Pakistan. I think it would be more beneficial if each side accepted responsibility for the issue and try to deal with it in a decent manner. Obviously I realize you and I cannot solve this age-old problem, but it would be a start.

  • and wherever I go ...whatever I do they will always be there

  • this movie is so true!! im greek and i hve to go to greek school. my dad always pressures me into marrying a greek man and we dare not be vegetarian. my vwhole family is so embaressing

  • Marry me !!! Not cause i'm just Greek , i'm a good guy too :P

  • i'm telling you i used to hate Greek school and never payed attention.... so when we actually moved to a GREEK country i seriously only knew how to speak Greek not how to read or write. It was a pain to learn in a span of 2 months... Anyways learn while you can.... lol someone gave her the mati. 5:24 the best... btw that guy has the best Greek in the WHOLE FILM.

  • i own this movie and watch it allll the time :D

    ... classssic ;)

  • "When my people were writing philosophy, you were still swinging from trees"!!!!!!!!

    LOL SOOO TRUE!!!!

  • Babylonian, Indian and Indo-Iranian philosophy predates Greek by hundreds of years. Other cultures also had philosophies that existed before or at least around the same time. Of course if we had a looser definition of philosophy where upon it's question are merely asked and answered rather than remembered and developed then we could say ever culture, pre-historical included had philosophy.

Remember with Gus his over-inflation of Greek cultural importance is a running joke in this movie.

  • Truly said, PrintScrn, but while the East was writing philosophies, the developed West that we see today was "almost" swinging on the trees. But yes, Greece was not the only East.

  • Nick, Nick, Nick...uh, Nick...Nicky

    LOL its true!

  • What do you mean, he don't eat no meat?!?

  • You do know that it's just one person's story, right? She's not saying that all Greek women are big and ugly.

  • yeah of course, it's just for entertainment

  • Change a few things, and this can easily resemble a Cuban American family about 20 or 30 years ago.

  • 6:38 was the best! hahaha

  • and hyjoker, my grandmother from my mothers side was an armenian girl about 7 who fled with the family of my grandfather ( he was 3) from smyrna (izmir) in 1922 to greece during the butchery.. they found her in the streets, her parents were killed on that day and she was like in a state of shock running around with no orientation. they didn't know what to do, so they took her with them. her name was sultana.. horrible times..

  • I'm Armenian and maybe 99% is the same haha, We Armenians are very very very similar to Greeks :) Reminds me of my family haha...

Especially where the part where they get surprised when he doesn't eat meat haha...

same thing would happen " HE DON'T EAT NO MEAT???"

  • i love that movie. i have greek origins and that movie is so true.. and hyejoker, don't listen to this asshole, he is exactly like those patriotic characters in the movie, we laugh about.. after all, he doesn't know about our historic connection against the turks but i know and other greeks too..

  • HE DONT EAT NO MEAT?!!!

    lol that was so funny

  • im greek, who wants to love on me

  • I'm from Brazil, but I love Greece and Greeks. We are also very similar. Our warm people, our families so happy and united. I think I would marry a

Greek to have a big fat Brazilian-Greek Wedding!!!! :-)))))) "Saudacoes Brasil" & poly cheretismus Ellada!!!

  • Well, you're lucky because about 95% of Greek men absolutely love Brazilian women so...there you go.

  • greeks are not like that, they used to be 30 years ago.And women are much more beautiful, not fat.Come and see...

  • σιγα μην ειμαστε ετσι....

  • my dad does that"pick any word and it will be greek" im greek. it's hard being greek

  • XD this film is amazing!

"tell me a word, any word...."

Tula's brother Nick... he can be a *malaka* sometimes.

  • yes he can...but hes only like that cause he loves her

  • "Ian doesn't eat meat."

    "That's OK; I'll make him a lamb."

    Funny as hell!
