  • I have the latest version of Xcode, I can't find the Quarts file, in around 3:10 I only have InterfaceBuilderKit, SenTestingKit, and CPlussTest, Which one do I use?

  • i use xcode 3.0 only reason i updated to snow leopard and the shop would not give me the box they just updated my system and didnt put xcode on it, going back there next week to get it, Do you think thats the reason in my window in xcode unlike in quartz the mouse has no effect?

  • is they a way to do that but not with the particle system like can you make a picture you want do it instead

  • This is soo cool! but i cannot figure out how to make this apart of my window using OSX 10.7 and Xcode 4.1

    any suggestions?

  • I also am Having trouble getting it to interact with the mouse when i run it in cocoa. Help?

  • ive gone through your tutorial 2 times now, and i cant figure out this problem: whenever i go to run my "app" in the interface builder, all the stuff is there, but it doesnt move with the mouse, it just stays there in the middle... but it does work when im in quartz... thank you for the great tutorial and for any help with this question

  • mine works fine in quartz composer and follows the mouse but when i run it in xcode it displays the animation but it does not follow it. i added the framework also

  • @OJProductions2009

Same here, I am using snow leopard. although I am not sure if i have add it to the framework or not....

  • @OJProductions2009 same here

  • @OJProductions2009 yea, i am having the exact same problem

  • Very clear tutorial sir, would you be so kind to give me some

pointers on how to make my own basic drawing app?

  • how could i distribute this becuse i sent it to my friend and it wont open for him

  • @hobolikespie11 Did you make sure that you added the Quartz framework? It will not work on another computer without it. Also you may need to add other frameworks depending on the version of Mac OS X they are using. There may still be some difficulties when trying to run an app made on an earlier version of OS X on snow leopard as well. Hope this helps

  • Dose any one know if this could be done on iphone

  • @hobolikespie11 as far as I'm aware quartz is built in to the iphone as well.

  • @joetommany well its me on my other channel i cant find the quartz viewer thing we use on this on the iphone sdk

  • This don't help cause I couldn't find part 1 where you load the Quartz interface in the .xib, in part 2.

  • followed one and two, when I run the application I can see the particles but I carn't control them with the cursor???

not sure what Ive done wrong tried a few times

  • @kylemunro had the same issue, to fix: you need to click "forward all events" ater loading the quartz composer view in interface builder in order for the mouse events to be picked up by the view.

  • @samruby82 where do i find this "forward all events"?

  • @samruby82 thanks a lot!!!

  • You probably don't need it to run the app on your machine but you will need to include the framework in your app for it to run independently i.e. on other machines. I'm new to programming so it's just a guess. Maybe it's just for redundancy.

p.s. Thanks for these toots. They saved me a LOT of time.

  • Why must you add a quartz framework? It was working fine without it...

  • Shisomiso is spot on, it will work fine on your system, but when you package it up and distribute it or something similar it wont work.

  • Nice effect and tutorial mate. :)
