  • iNTERPOL CAN NOT EVEN LACE JOY DIVISIONS BOOTS UP.... NO COMPARISON. I'VE SEEN THE FUTURE AND ITS JOY DIVISION!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is from Joy Division's RCA demo sessions. Long bootlegged on the Holy Grail of Joy Division bootleg vinyl... "The Box File." AWESOME VERSION!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!

  • TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO GET OUT!

  • You must be really retarded if you mention JD and interpol in one sentance

    (and so am I)

But really Comparing them is senseless

    JD is Trillion times better

  • fuckin rocks

  • ffffffffffffff yyyyeeeaaaahhhh

  • YEAH looking for a friend of mine.

  • Ian

    The Best

    Finish....

  • YEAH!!!

  • this music makes me happy

  • excelent

  • interpol is so faaaaaaaar from joydivision, its not the same music at all for fcksake!!

    their first album is great but then its just the same album again and again;

    joydivision rules

  • interpol n editors..haha..nothing like the greatest band in the world today;-)..nuff sed ey;-)

  • Interpol rips off Joy Division.

  • Interpol is a great band. If you've listened to "Turn On The Bright Lights" and think that they're not a great band, then, well, I don't know what else to say. And I say that without discrediting Joy Division. Joy Division is an amazing, groundbreaking group. But Interpol does not suck.

  • i think that interpol is along the same line as joy division , but they are not better of course !

  • interpol is a piece of shit.

  • I don't understand how anyone can argue that interpol or whoever is better than joy division. Bottom line joy division came first and are way better.

  • I want to start a church. The church of Ian Curtis. And Heaven will be youand all of your friends sitting in a comfortable room listening to joy division for all of eternity

  • excellent agreed!!

  • can you tell me if there is any footage of warsaw/joy division???????????

  • I had that idea ages ago! Lets do it!!!!! yay!!!

  • Great idea. lol where do i sign up?

  • @MikoSergio interpol are a special police/agency that capture most wanted criminals etc.

  • @MikoSergio agreeed.

  • BOM DEMAIS! I NEED THIS MUSIC

  • And along came the '80s and everything started to SUCK.

  • you sir have a good taste in music. pity you believe in that zeitgeist bullshit.

  • how did u get the graphics in the vid? please tell me

  • Yes, is Ian, indeed...

  • Agreed on the awesome raw sound they had... Man, Joy Division is just great.

  • doesn't sound like ian,, atleast.. not like i've heard him till now

  • Yes, he is. Ian used to sing more "punk" younger.

  • interpol is the new joy division get fucking real

  • They aren't the "new Joy Division" , they can't , because JD's songs were made of Curtis feelings , Curtis is dead and Joy Division died with him . So there can't be any "new Joy Division" .

But Interpol is such inspired by Joy Division , you can "feel" it . But you can't feel this "pain" that you can feel by listening to Joy Division .

  • Comment removed

  • Somebody once told me to go listen to Interpol. They are the new Joy Division, he said. After listening to some Interpol stuff, I went to his home and killed him...

  • hahaha -

  • This is fucking good, i love it. The earlier tracks were so punky and amazing raw sound. Love u JD/Warsaw...

  • Comment removed

  • dont go into a war about joy division and interpol. interpol are an amazing band there first 2 albums are excellent. yes they are pretty a modern day version of JD and yes Joy Division cannot be matched because there one of the best and most influential bands ever, still doesnt mean Interpol are crap.

  • true

    i have all 3 interpol

    and

  • cool

  • wow, i cant beleive i forgot about interpol.

  • Isn't this song called "Interzone" not Warsaw? Or am I just getting confused?

  • warsaw was what joy division were originally called

    xxx

  • y aren't there any bands like joy division any more?

  • I take it you're not much of an Interpol fan.

  • Interpol can't hold shit to Joy Division.

  • I'll hafta agree with you there....

  • yea people need to stop camparing interpol to joy division they are just comparing them becuase paul banks sounds like a mommath speaking

  • Joy Division rocks! I just got the 1st Warsaw album when they sounded more punk. It's awesome! Everybody go and get it! :)

  • I had nowere to turn then ian curtis spoke about his illness I was hooked, his dowfall became my strengh I needed something and someone .his wife made it all come clear..

rip the book touching from a distance was a great thing for me.. jay

  • isn't the album they released as warsaw out of print?

  • everything in that album sounds different ... even ian voices

  • Is it even ian?

  • it is him but he sounds about 17!!!

  • video is awesome

  • is this just me or does this song sound different to all other Joy Division songs

  • "Interzone" is a William Burroughs term he created in his surrealistic novels, an imaginary world of his creation.

Curtis was reportedly a Burroughs fan, but was rebuffed by his hero when Curtis tried to meet him after a Burroughs reading event! William was usually more gracious than that in his later years, I think. Must have caught him at a bad time.

  • It's nice to see Ian Curtis going for a higher sound. Don't get me wrong his use of the baritone voice was amazing but this is awesome!

  • wow this is intense.

    It's FANTASTIC!

    I love this song!

  • i was looking for a friend of mine~~~

  • Anybody got any extremely rate Stiff Kittens out there?

  • YEAH. stiff kittens would be great/. anyone?

  • i love that sound

  • This is so cool because it's so raw, but I prefer the one with the two vocal tracks.

  • I got another version of this on the greatest hits compilation, though its not as raw as this.

  • Man this brings back memories that i will never forget. I am 42 and have a joy division tatoo from when i was 18. LOL! EPIC!!

  • indescribableble

  • I could have sworn I heard someone talking in a Polish accent in the market square today. ALL FUKCING RIGHT! THIS ROCKS!

  • Have you been to Boston Lincs lately!

  • Nothing rare about this. I think I had this before the UP-version...

Do I hear a little bit of (early) Bowie here?

  • everybody happy now?

    ;)

  • dude this is interzone not warsaw, but still a fuckin amazing song

  • this is the track 'Interzone' from what was going to be their first album called Warsaw, the band is also Warsaw (later called Joy Division) with Ian Curtis singing

  • a polish builder stole my sink.

    HELL YEAH! ALL RIGHT!

I fucking love this song. HD headphones thank you very much!

  • a polish restaurant has just opened down the road from me. i think some of the guys who work in there are from warsaw. ALL RIGHT!

  • Fuckin amazin!!!

  • the guys who fitted my double glazing were from poland. all right! freaking awesome!

  • This is Interzone stupid

  • I just issued a guy a permit to drive in Warsaw, his home town.... very strange

  • this is my capitol! Warszawa=Warsaw. capitol of Poland

  • isnt this interzone?

  • Yes - this version is on Heart and Soul

  • it's a very good song, but how you describe it as rare is not right. good upload otherwise.

  • never trust descriptions

  • they meant rare as in finding a rough version back when JD were Warsaw isn't so common, I can guaruntee most people haven't heard the rough/early versions.

  • amazing!

and people the song is called interzone...joy division used to be named warsaw...

  • before that the Stiff Kittens

  • I think this is a cover. I have the Joy division version, a 12 inch picture disk with an image of some scaffolding around a building. What is this?

  • This isn't a cover. It's the original. No doubt about it.

Before Joy Division became Joy Division, they were Warsaw.

  • is this from their first recording session, the one that was not released because of a dispute with a producer over the results(thin sound) untill after they signed a contract and remixed it?

  • thats interzone nice song but leaders of men is better

  • Where can i get these "rare" Warsaw songs?

  • the album simply called "Warsaw" I had to order my copy from the local store, but I'm sure you could find a copy on the net.

  • Yeah, that's Interzone, but it's still a good song.

  • The name of the song is interzone

  • well posted never heard this version. they sounded good even without martin hannet. R.I.P Ian, Martin and Tony

  • Love it!

  • that's interzone, of course.

  • i've been a big fan since i was 11 and i haven't heard this version yet. nice!

  • warsaw was the name before joy division

  • is the song called Warsaw ? why ??

  • Song is called interzone

  • so whats the "warsaw" in the title got to do with the vid?

  • Joy Division was called 'Warsaw' in their early days but was forced to change the name because of another band called 'Warsaw Pakt'.

  • hehe thats pretty cool thnx for the info.

  • No problem;)

  • i'm no yaankee, i'm greek mate, how stupid can ya be

  • INTERZONE NIGGAS!!!

  • Course its ian curtis singing this was the lost album yer fuckin tool

  • it is ian cant you tell hear his voice

  • this is definitely not ian curtis singing...

  • Of course it's Ian Curtis, who else?

  • This is Interzone and it sounds like the RCA records session which is on heart and soul.

  • Re: Hess references:

On the Electric Circus Live EP Curtis shouts out "yer'all forgot about Ruldolph Hess?"

  • in an interview he answered that they're dark but definately not nazis.get over it for fucks shake.besides sid vicious used to play with a t-shirt that had a swastiga on it.they're not nazis

  • hey before you comment get your facts right! idiot! does it say anywhere in my comment they are?

  • fuck off dude,i wasnt answering to you, i just found your comment as an opportunity to make it clear. and by the way who are you calling an idiot...you stupid cunt..fuck off

  • sums it up! A YANK! "dude"I shudda known! a YANK!

can it get any better than an idiotic yank

  • Yeaaaaaah looking for a friend of mine !

  • peter hook is a bass giant! this song is great, though ian sounds like johnny rotten's brother! does any footage of them exist? thanx

  • uhhh....search "joy division"

  • i meant warsaw footage, of course. i've enjoyed joy division videos for a long time, and many of my students are amazed at the images of ian curtis in performance

  • ...and prepare to have your life changed.

  • scratch that, thought i was on the page where new order did the tribute to ian. its interzone. Hey, stop throwing stuff, lol

  • I think they got the title correct. The band was originally called Warsaw, and this song appears on their album (yes, i still have the vinyl) by the same name. Then the name changed to Joy Division and cut Unknown Pleasures. This song is definitely not the Interzone on that LP.There was a compliation called Substance on which this song, titled Warsaw, is included.

  • You are right. Ian Curtis and the group named themselves initially 'Warsaw' as at tribute to David Bowie's song 'Warszawa'. But they changed their name to 'Joy Division', borrowing their nom d'arte from the prostitution wing of a Nazi concentration camp that was high - lighted in the book "The House of Dolls", so as to avoid confusion over the name of another punk band called "Warsaw Pakt".

  • this is interzone my girlfriend favorite song off all time, looking for a friend of mine

    e Ron Paul

  • This is a really good version. On the Unknown Pleasures version, is it Curtis singing both vocal parts, I used to assume it was Barney singing the higher part but when you listen to the Warsaw demo and he's singing in his tenor register...it could be either. Anyone?

  • Bernard Sumner never sang in Joy Division. When this song was sung live, Ian Curtis would do the lead vocal and Peter Hook did the backing vocal. For the studio recording , Ian did both.

  • Thanks man. Seen "Control" yet? It's really, really good....but (as this seems to be the topic of this comment page) they totally ignored Ian Curtis' fascination with the 3rd Reich...which I thought was a cop-out, editorially, since D. Curtis certainly lent it ample attention in her book.

  • I really don't care that Ian Curtis and the band had a fascination with the Third Reich. I myself am fascinated by it and I'm not even a White man.

  • Well I'm fascinated in the way one is fascinated by a car wreck. The point is, they ignored it entirely. Remember that WWII would have been within living memory of most adults when the members of JD were growing up.

  • Interzone (Arrow studios, Manchester - RCA Demo 1979)

  • what an awesome song I forgot on how good this song is .I love joy division they are an all time classic band one of the best ever.

  • If it weren't for the words i could totally rock out to this shit. Cant really get down with a song about Rudolph Hess :(

  • i think you should listen again eeedel, this song has got fukall to do with Rudolph Hess????!!!

  • Perhaps not, although I don't know. But you can't deny the bands name with Nazism. As to why they picked it, I don't know.

  • For someone who knows about the lyrics of the song Warsaw, it is strange that you don't know how it sounds like because this song is Interzone and has nothing to do with Rudolf Hess.

  • why is it that even after months have gone by some fanboy fuck always comes back around to REITERATE what someone else has already fucking said?

that first blurb they shout out? its rudolph hess' jail number. you think that just happened randomly? fuck no.

  • Am I missing something? What jail number? This song is titled "Interzone" and as far as I know has nothing to do with Rudolf Hess. You are talking about "Warsaw" and this video is not it. If you're accusing the band of being Nazi sympathizers, maybe you should learn how to write properly so that people understand what you really mean.

  • you understood what i mean well enough to bitch and moan about something i said forever ago/forgot i even comment on though didnt you?

  • Did you woke up on the wrong side or something? You don't have to go all mad on people like that. I honestly still am not sure if you're commenting on this particular song (Interzone) or the band itself.

  • Yellowcatz is correct. Warsaw is the name of the BAND here, not the name of the song. Warsaw later changed their name to Joy Division and did have a song called "Warsaw". Understandably confusing to the uninitiated.

  • it's interzone....not that rare...pieces from unknown pleasure

  • This version is rare because it is not the one from Unknown Pleasure. Notice that there's no backing vocal?

  • are there any other band that make similar music too joy division?

  • Joy Division were influenced by early 70's bands, iggy n the stooges, pere ubu, television, etc but there's so many bands that have been influenced by JD since then, you can hear JD in most indie music since late 70's..i think there's a band called The Editors who are very JD...i'd reccomend The Stooges for that primaeval scream tho! best o luck:)

  • There's a band from Athens, Georgia called Pylon who recorded at the same time as Joy Division. They have a similar sound, though with a female vocalist. Very minimalistic, very aggressive. Great stuff. If you can find their "Hits" record, get it!

  • wahey, its interzone

  • God i love Joy didviosn most intense band of all time.. I am going to start a bar can club and have Joy dvision as the main theme.. think it wil wokrk?

  • it's not rare man!

  • It is to some people :)

  • it fuckin is.

  • Awesome. The early J/D particularly fascinates me,

(the song "Warsaw") and I looked for this stuff for years.

    Thanks a bunch, Yellowcatz!!

  • amazing work - thanx a lot, go on feeding our instincts, man

  • interzone exellent

  • had this on a old warsaw tape with they walk in line and many others, lost it when car got stolen.Well gutted

  • Your style a perfect!~

  • great song!

  • amazing!

  • This whole amplitude thingy in the background reminds one of the cover of Joy Division's début album, Unknown Pleasures. That's the nice thing about it! And for ten minutes it's very OK, of course, though I'd've liked to see more variation. Still, nice one!

  • biuteful i like it ..5st

    adil

  • Glad u liked it mate!
