  • I keep see'ing people hating on parlotones for doing this song in their album and I felt like the origional earned its right to an open mind. But after watching this I'm sorry, but this is crap, you people should thank the parlotones for making this song much, much better.

  • @m4st3rsk44p **original

  • I think the lead singer is SO handsome. His voice gives me goosebumps. One of my favourite songs of all time.

  • God I remember this one from way back, used to play the 12in on repeat... that at Venus In Furs Pretty In PInk

  • ,a il cantante era una donna poi è diventato uomo

  • I bought this with a free tape. this was on it, plus 'days like these', plus one of the most incredible piano/vocal tunes I've ever heard. can't remember what it was called but it the lyric 'the crown that I wear is battered and it's so worn'. there was an alternative version of 'Julie' on it too. I don't have it any more and wish I could get those songs again. love 'em x thanks for posting

  • This is hilarious! Brings back so many memories. If it wasn't so ridiculous it wouldn't be as entertaining to watch. The singer is so naff and he takes himself so seriously. Love the 80s contrived singing.

  • This has got to be one of the best songs of the 80s. Hideous pants though.

  • i consider myself blessed for having grown up in the 80s, when i hear someone say "oh my sister is having a baby" im like why?i sure as hell would not want to grow up in this world right now,the music we have right now is reason enough not to.

  • EXCELLENT SONG!!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Strange but I got this record on "cassette tape" as a free promotion at the time, it's has to be one of my fav songs of the 80s!!!

  • I think I know why his friends are laughing. Do love it though.

  • love this track, bought the 12" back in 1986...have searched the world for a cd copy but no joy...it must be included on a compilation or soundtrack ...ANY SUGGESTIONS?

  • Ha, just found my original record in the basement!!!!!

  • great song but this video really brings me close to puking.

  • it's all about the elbows

  • his dance moves are brilliant

  • I like the Parlotones Version much better :/

  • Anyone got the lyrics to this?????

  • Came out the year I left school. I loved this song - still do, in fact. Bloody marvellous.

  • found some old recordings today that i had put on to mini disc ...and what a bonus this was on there ... forgot how good it sounded ....great song !! everything that was so good about the 80's :)

  • Great stuff. So 80s. Just look at those puffy pants! I'll get round to uploading 'Julie' at some point. Terrific song. These guys were great.

  • absolutely loooovvvveeee this song!!!

  • absolutely loooovvvveeee this song!!!

  • Andy (the singer) is my cousin.

  • @TR25W How is he these days?

  • @22ndWave He's cool. Family man now, living in Southampton.

  • @TR25W Give the man my regards. I have basically his complete works now. Really talented and underrated much like Ricky Gervais back in the day.

  • When I heard the Parlotones version - I completely forgot how the original version went.....Both versions are so true to their eras though - I love both. Maybe I love the Parlotones version a bit more as the lead singer isn't wearing a skirt.

  • The original is so, so much better than the parlortones cover

  • BTW, how come i can't find a place to download this song ANYWHERE!

  • wow i used to love this when i was a wee gal, still got my vinyl

  • Can I ask why a person would dance like this?

  • @KFlood711 cause its sexxxyyyY!!!! XD

  • @KFlood711 Haha, good question. Probably because that's how white people get down. All in good fun!

  • i love this man he is sooo perfect!!!

    i want one like that!

  • Listen to the Parlotones' version!

  • it doesn't get any fucking better

  • i bought this

  • Man I get goosies this was way back!!! Brilliant song!!!

  • This was an army song for me - brilliant

  • I have the 12" version of this on the Fun After All label if anyone wants to make me an offer.....

  • Makes me want to go out and buy Storm deoderant..... Love this song

  • thank god the 80's fashions are gone!!!!!!!!! Love the music!!!

  • There's a touch of Bowie in the lead singer. Just an amazing song. The band name most likely comes from a play called 'In the Boom Boom Room' by David Rabe, which I was in once.

  • Gesus... this brings back some memories. Cheers

    Long live the Prophet 5

  • this song is pure class. 'nuff said.

  • I cannot believe that this song only has 14,000 views. It's class. UN-believable, with the rest of the diatribe out there.

  • YOU DOES' NT HAVE IDEA ALL THE TIME IT DOES THAT I COME LOOKING FOR THIS THEME! THIS ONE VERY GOOD AND ALSO IT REMEMBERS ME VERY MUCH MY ADOLESCENCE. Thank you very much slugfulham!!!!

  • Look up The Parlotones cover of this song... Brilliant..

  • I didn't know generic meant brilliant. Parlotones' version is the usual rock, unlike this.

  • @kittykattme The Parlotones version of this song is a disastrous rendition of this gem. Its insulting.

  • Where was this group from/nationality?

  • They were from the UK, I got 3 singles by them

  • love this song

  • Ok... one more... WHY can't we have songs like this again?! What happened? After half an hour in the car just now, listening to current radio fare, I wanted to drive into the nearest wall.

  • Oh, also... MAN DOES THIS SONG RULE!

    (Remember when things "rule"d?)

  • From this never-say-die New Wave Kid, thanks ever so much for posting this! WLIR. Record Stop and Paris, NY!

Say... how about LOVE YOUR FACE? Anyone got that video? ;)

  • remember this video as a kid. Supreme tune, those guys knows what they 'we been doing, heavy popy song -still no shitty production, excellent arrangement and mix... and singer...one amazing voice

Can anyone give me torrent to their stuff???>>> Thanx

    Can't get

  • That chap(?) gives me the heebiejeebies! Great tune though. Shame I had left SA by the time it came round.

  • i remember a freebie tape of 4 demo songs by boom boom room-given away with a music magazine back in the day... songs all good-why did they not do better? oh dear, how the singer must regret those trews though.

  • Man this songs takes me back to Tappas in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Hot summer night, hot chics and loads of booze.

  • I do not think so. This is the best

  • wish there was extended dance remix on this, its a perfect song for it. Not the parletons rubbish.

  • I still dig the Parlotones version, At least it got a few people looking for the original. World Class song!

  • everything about this song was and is legendary, the dance, clothes, the sax, hair do's, remember it well goes back to my first parties and school dikskows in SA.

  • Dude this takes me back to the Ice rink in Boksburg.

    Happy days

  • @Greggybread I also lived in Boksburg during the eighties......This tune was big in S.A, but disappointingly not recognised here in the U.K

  • I have this on vinyl and CD. Love his voice.

  • the saxophone part is great

  • Heard this song while I was on honeymoon in Durban, South Africa in 1986 and looked for it all these years. It brings back some great memories and still as good as I remembered it. This band should have been much bigger worldwide... maybe not promoted enough. Thank you for posting this clip

  • the parlotones do this song much better

  • I remember hearing this once bak in the days and I have been thinking about it from time to time. It was far worse than I remembered it, but still excellent in a weird way. The Eighties truly is the decade that taste forgot.

  • Finally get to see the video after first hearing the song on the South African version of "Now that's what l call music: vol 4"! It was great back then & still great now. Man, eighties fashion in the UK/Europe (anyboby know their history?) was dodgy at best - LOL!!

  • yeah this is kind of cult classic song in south africa, radio algoa used to play this

  • I wish this band where bigger then they where, the late 80s could have been really good to, but 1986 was the start of the manufactured plastic pop music part of the 80s, thats why I only like the early to mid 80s part.

  • I remember this video broadcast at the beginning of 1987. It really brings me back at the time when I was a teenager. By the way I am unable to find the lyrics of this song. Does anyone know how can I get them?

  • The singer is so cooooooooooool!

  • I'm from Poland. This band wasn't known in my country at all. In 80's I sometimes listened to Radio Luxembourg and one day I heard Boom Boom Room, but it was "Julie" - marvellous song. I remember it even now.

  • Not very well know, but a great 80's tune this one, very under rated. Takes me back, though not to the clobber that the lead singer is wearing!!

  • I lay in bed all last trying to remember this band in the hope it was on You Tube!!! Hurrah for the Internet... I'm 18 again!!!

  • Superb band! I have loads of there stuff on CD! Brilliant unknown band that should have been massive!

  • OH MY GOD! Haven't heard this for years!!!! Thanks so much!
