I keep see'ing people hating on parlotones for doing this song in their album and I felt like the origional earned its right to an open mind. But after watching this I'm sorry, but this is crap, you people should thank the parlotones for making this song much, much better.
I bought this with a free tape. this was on it, plus 'days like these', plus one of the most incredible piano/vocal tunes I've ever heard. can't remember what it was called but it the lyric 'the crown that I wear is battered and it's so worn'. there was an alternative version of 'Julie' on it too. I don't have it any more and wish I could get those songs again. love 'em x thanks for posting
This is hilarious! Brings back so many memories. If it wasn't so ridiculous it wouldn't be as entertaining to watch. The singer is so naff and he takes himself so seriously. Love the 80s contrived singing.
i consider myself blessed for having grown up in the 80s, when i hear someone say "oh my sister is having a baby" im like why?i sure as hell would not want to grow up in this world right now,the music we have right now is reason enough not to.
love this track, bought the 12" back in 1986...have searched the world for a cd copy but no joy...it must be included on a compilation or soundtrack ...ANY SUGGESTIONS?
found some old recordings today that i had put on to mini disc ...and what a bonus this was on there ... forgot how good it sounded ....great song !! everything that was so good about the 80's :)
found some old recordings today that i had put on to mini disc ...and what a bonus this was on there ... forgot how good it sounded ....great song !! everything that was so good about the 80's :)
When I heard the Parlotones version - I completely forgot how the original version went.....Both versions are so true to their eras though - I love both. Maybe I love the Parlotones version a bit more as the lead singer isn't wearing a skirt.
There's a touch of Bowie in the lead singer. Just an amazing song. The band name most likely comes from a play called 'In the Boom Boom Room' by David Rabe, which I was in once.
YOU DOES' NT HAVE IDEA ALL THE TIME IT DOES THAT I COME LOOKING FOR THIS THEME! THIS ONE VERY GOOD AND ALSO IT REMEMBERS ME VERY MUCH MY ADOLESCENCE. Thank you very much slugfulham!!!!
Ok... one more... WHY can't we have songs like this again?! What happened? After half an hour in the car just now, listening to current radio fare, I wanted to drive into the nearest wall.
remember this video as a kid. Supreme tune, those guys knows what they 'we been doing, heavy popy song -still no shitty production, excellent arrangement and mix... and singer...one amazing voice
Can anyone give me torrent to their stuff???>>> Thanx
i remember a freebie tape of 4 demo songs by boom boom room-given away with a music magazine back in the day... songs all good-why did they not do better? oh dear, how the singer must regret those trews though.
everything about this song was and is legendary, the dance, clothes, the sax, hair do's, remember it well goes back to my first parties and school dikskows in SA.
Heard this song while I was on honeymoon in Durban, South Africa in 1986 and looked for it all these years. It brings back some great memories and still as good as I remembered it. This band should have been much bigger worldwide... maybe not promoted enough. Thank you for posting this clip
I remember hearing this once bak in the days and I have been thinking about it from time to time. It was far worse than I remembered it, but still excellent in a weird way. The Eighties truly is the decade that taste forgot.
Finally get to see the video after first hearing the song on the South African version of "Now that's what l call music: vol 4"! It was great back then & still great now. Man, eighties fashion in the UK/Europe (anyboby know their history?) was dodgy at best - LOL!!
I wish this band where bigger then they where, the late 80s could have been really good to, but 1986 was the start of the manufactured plastic pop music part of the 80s, thats why I only like the early to mid 80s part.
I remember this video broadcast at the beginning of 1987. It really brings me back at the time when I was a teenager. By the way I am unable to find the lyrics of this song. Does anyone know how can I get them?
I'm from Poland. This band wasn't known in my country at all. In 80's I sometimes listened to Radio Luxembourg and one day I heard Boom Boom Room, but it was "Julie" - marvellous song. I remember it even now.
