Also just wondering what you did about the compression ratio? I have got my open crank Tecumseh running quite well now, however it can be a bit temperamental. I have lowered the compression ratio significantly, I'm just wondering if thats my problem
Nice work! Youve got me curious, so I have to ask what motivated you to alter this engine into a hit and miss. A challenge, a bet, challenge your mechanical enginuity skills. Whatever it was good work!
@cambriacity The piston is oiled with a drip oiler, the rod bearing and crank mains have grease cups, and the open gears are just oiled with an oil can, everything just like an original hit and miss engine.

How did you attach the cylinder oiler to the block. I'm doing this with a 3 HP tecumseh but the block to too thin to drill and tap.

looks like it makes all of 1hp now, heh.

Great vid :)
You are braver than me, getting that close to it with a rag, while it is running!
I have thought of doing this with Briggs lawnmower engine, but not really a true hit and miss like this one is. Nice job!
