I have to say, Gerard Butler was a great Dracula! Too bad the movie wasn't as good as he deserves. Sorry, ever since I saw Phantom of the Opera I have been a fan of Gerard Butler. :D

I've seen parts of "Dracula 2000" and never watched the whole thing. Now I'll probably have to. Anyone who nods toward Dario Argento, in spirit at least, has something going for them. He's been around forever and his films are not big here in the US despite a cult following. (Same thing with Mario Bava, who's influenced people like Tim Burton).

Look at Argento's horror films "Suspiria" and "Inferno," especially the former. The scenery, the lighting, and the execution are very similar to a couple of scenes.

It's not too surprising. Anyone from Scott Derrickson ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") Eli Roth ("Hostel") Lucky McKee ("The Woods") and even John Carpenter's "Halloween" is Argento influenced. McKee and Roth are big fans, and Derrickson had much of the visual production that is kind of "spooky yet beautiful"---check . . .

See the original "Salem's Lot." The vampires there are kind of morbid.

Nothing against hot female vampires, however. But I do prefer brunettes. Monica Bellucci in "Bram Stoker's Dracula" was just about perfect. Even in her 40s she is still scorching hot.
