Sad that one can not share their own enthusiasm for something just to have abuse thrown at them but aI suppose that's life and the internet oh yes human beings all of us are intelligent beings I was not talking about interlect just plain old being human .Music touches is all. Oh swear at me if you will or troll somewhere else.
Music has nothing to do with intelligence. I could say that everyone her who does not like metal has a low intelligence, but that would not be true, the same with classical, jazz and so on. So basically: Fuck you, you pretentious bastards. Hurrdurr, I like something that's odd and unique, therefore I am the same.
@LoneInACrowd I've got to agree. It spoils the whole elegance and smoothness of the track. I know remixes are supposed to change things obviously, but I think it goes beyond 'remixing' when it spoils the song completely. Poor :(
@SongBillong Pagan Poetry is probably my favorite song, and I think this is a really great mix. MH doesn't spoil anything from the song, he just gives a darker, grittier take on it. And you gotta love that bass.
@illumiere Yeah; I actually have to say that I like this remix better than the original. "Gritty" is definitely an apt term. I think it really delves more into the atmosphere the lyrics give off, almost, you know? Anyhow, yes. Total agreement.
you know im not a big fan of stocking celebrities,... but i wouold love to meet her and pick her brain for a month and share idea.... shes aweome,.. not just a musician but an artist as well....
Bjork is a genius and a pure soul and has the most intense, versatile pipes ever!
WHERE is the appeal NOT? It's everywhere.
Her voice and sound is love you can't touch and magic that floats in the air; clutching at your soul causing you to hysterically smile and breathe rapidly. Music for Music Snobs? :)
You have to already have a developed taste for music like hers, It's okay to just like noise for what it is.. some times though you listen to the words and make your own meaning for it. Or just listen to what's being said.. Eitherway it's not for everyone, like some people drink coffee and some people drink tea.. for me i drink both. lol.
@radweed2009 I sort of agree... not entirely, but I know what you mean. I've loved Bjork since her 11 year old lullaby and Sugar Cubes... And although I've enjoyed ALL her albums (mostly because her production is f*ckin genius and plutonian), her vocal melodies have remained... pretty much the same. Same interval leaps and rhythmic gestures in her vocal lines (although that PERFECT octatonic scale she sang in homogenic was awesome). Still, love her regardless.
@WorldofWandag I think having your own completely identifiable sound is pretty much *it* as far as I'm concerned. Look at Cohen or Dylan or Willie Nelson, Steven Tyler.. I think most great/cool voices are "different" but "limited". Few exceptions.
@getkristan don't get me wrong. I have no critique on her vocals as an instrument and her very DISTINCT timbre. In fact, part of the reason why I love her is because there's nobody i know that sounds like her. With that being said, the aforementioned examples you've given fall in the same category except those singers definitely change up their melodic structure and leaps and steps and vary how the melody is constructed. With Bjork, her structures have been the same throughout
@WorldofWandag then again, she could be doing that on purpose... keep the same type of melodic lines but change the contours, orchestrations, production, arrangements of the music that backs her vocals up. in the end, she's still the master
@WorldofWandag I agree, although I do think Bjork has some melodic variation. But I don't think she is trying to write a "killer melody". She just does her thing, and producers have their way with her voice. I *do* criticize her a bit just because it is kind of taboo to dis the "artiste". Her lyrics are quite weak, for ex. I think she has a unique voice, skilled in its way, and a wonky etherial personality that attracts.. but the rest is production, designers, and marketing.
J'aime beaucoup de remix de la miss mais cette version de Pagan Poetry est la numéro 1 de toutes. Je ne m'en lasse pas de l'entendre encore et encore...
I think she throat sings, sometimes she sings in icelandic, you gotta listen in hard to realize that. but the throat singing is superb in the original!!
No, the gibberish she's singing is referred to as Hopelandic. Trust me, I've done my research on this. And when she sings in Icelandic, it's made very apparent.
Her singing, in general, is superb! Lots of love for Bjork!
@renethel I feel as though "Hopelandic" is more of a sigur ros thing. Before they came into the picture in 94' and the term wasn't used, What would you call it then??? I still think of it as throat singing. ^ ~
Okay, i feel that's something i can agree with. Sorry i don't usually like to debate but it was something i just wanted to do. ^ ^ but you won. *bows and leaves the room*
nope. hopelandic was first done on sigur ros's song 'von'... which translates to 'hope'. sigur's fans coined the term hopelandic. aka vonlenska... hopelandic is definitely just a sigur thing, though the band dismisses the term. they call it "blah blah blah"...
indeed indeed... i apologize... i do agree with you. i just feel that jonsi has his own little repetitive vocal world full you "yooooouuuuu siiiiiighhhhhh's" which is his own thing. bjork as well has her own thing. but yes they are two takes on the same concept. completely agree
Hopelandic: a made-up language (created by band Sigur Ros) which the sound of the word is a meaning and a story to each individual. (after: Urban Dictionary)

This is so beautiful and haunting. Matthew Herbert definitely did a great job reinventing the song without ruining it. This is probably one of the best official remixes of a song Bjork ever put out . Thank you sooo much for this, this is great.

Although Sigur Ros coined the term, it is the same concept.
