great series, i just bought this (over priced) and was wondering if the last 4 numbers above the serial are the retail price? (@0:37). i am in South Korea and i found a hobby shop that sells these but they asked 75000 won, roughly 66 dollars US, and if this was an easy way to know the price i could haggle them down a lot easily. @sorloft12 You dont need to read japanese to build gundam. It is build through really easy to follow pictures like legos (except it's not a toy) The only things in the instructions that are in japanese are the Gundam's descriptions and important icons for building (which can be figured out with simple intuition.) Good luck!

@otileunamocius It is not a toy, it is a model, a gunpla. Though it looks like a toy it is really REALLY fragile (if put in the wrong hands) If your intrested in building gunpla, you first need sprue cutters, angled twezzers, an exacto knife, and perferibly a gundam marker for beginners. They don't sell them in the US, but you can buy some off the internet. Gunpla can take days to finish without painting but it is worth it. It is best to leave it on your shelf in one pose. Hoped this helped you!

@Lemonsharky Though , the red frame is one of the sturdiest models I have , if not the sturdiest , only need to glue one panel or 2 and the only thing that will fall off are the sideskirts if you need to move them too much

I have this kit and its doesn't have the 30th anniv logo and it doesn't come with those clear parts and it still sells for 5000yen -.-" uhm is it just me or the arrow form from the side of the box is different from the arrow form from the instruction manual in the documentary photo section.... o.O

@02Jc19 Thats cuz you bought the original version. This was a special version made to celebrate the 30th anniversary of GUNPLA. Theres no difference between the model itself except for a few clear parts that comes with it

Can't say the gold on those parts is really a problem, as after some pannel lining and smudging, it looks like weathered gold, which should contrast nicely with the blades' chrome. I've done that effect for Strike Freedom MG and I have to say I'm pleased with the end result. Chrome Gold should be good for MG Hyakku Shiki, though. Thanks for the extensive review. I just bought my kit based on your demonstration, and in a few days I'll be losing myself in it. Great job, dude. :)

I really want to start this and get my first gundam model kit im just really bad at painting and i think if i ever tryed to paint it would be really hard and pannel lining but if you don't then they look pretty boring

@TimeSplittersChimp Painting isn't all that bad if you know how to handle spray cans or an airbrush. For your first Gundam I recommend just using a clear coat spray on the parts to get rid of the plastic-ish look (if you use a matt spray which is hard to come by) and get used to spraying. Panel lining is very easy if you use a gundam marker, you couldjust give the part a clean wipe with a finger to fix up your mistakes, any small point acrylic marker still works though.

the crome gold on the pg really isnt that big of a deal..the places where the parts are joint to the pieces are poorly placed with little effort on bandai's part to hide them.. For such an expensive kit i expected bandai to put more effort into sprue placement like the 1/100 counterpart which is virtually perfect in terms of hiding sprue marks,

besides plainting a plastic part is many times easier than painting the pg chromed parts since paint doesnt stick to chrome very well. You will need to paint a large majority of the pg chrome parts anyway due to pathetic sprue placement.

Personally, I'm glad the gold parts aren't gold plated - the regular MG Shin Musha Gundam was the same way with it's 'gold' parts.

If they were gold plated, there would be ugly nubs everywhere that would be hard to hide. At least this way, we can paint them a shinier gold and cover up those nubs.

I also like that the gold ends of the scabbard and the katana hilts are in one piece, so there's no unsightly seams to worry about.

From what parts are shown on the manual, it's got the same joint on the abdomen tha allows the hips to swing forward, allowing for the same high forward kick as the Blue Frame. It even has the pegs & grips to make the Tactical Arms II into Sword Arms - minus the effect parts, though.

To paint a very nice Gold,you must sprary a layer of black.Then,you sprary the gold,to achieve a shiny gold.

i think they made the gold parts that dull old gold because the hilt of the swords can be seen on both sides and since the shiny gold is created by spray painting a chrome plate with a clear orange all the gold made this way end up being gold on only one side so the other would be chrome.

gundam markers give you a nice gold effect but no where near as good as the chrome coating.

use a rice silver under coat and then use a clear gold on top. this will give u the gold sparker ur looking for. its hard to do, but with practice it will come out great

Use a mixture of clear gold and yellow. Yellow turns out too fake looking so you need the little bit of orange to darken it.
