I did this to my daughter this weekend for a baby shower and I didnt curl it. It worked out great she wants me to do it for her next dance she has. I will curl it then. the wave pattern that the curls are creating always helps with a french twist (and other up-dos), it makes it easy as she is making it look.

the french twist and the open ended braid are super cool, but the curls that end up just hanging there are depressing. i think i would try to pin them down somehow..

You curl your hair to geve more texture to it, you can always work better with curled hair because it has a better hold.

nice hairdo, but I think it could be made simpler without curling all of your hair first and not putting part of it back with an elastic. Just separate hair top and bottom, french twist the bottom and then do the braid at the top and curl the hair. That is how I would do it anyway.

@caopizhenji I don't think any one's grandma would wear this. You can accessorize to update the look to your liking. Also you can try to make the french twist a little looser/or loose bun it and you can gather the loose ends a little closer to the bun. Overall, I think you can take the hairdos presented literally or you can customize (Elessa is big on that!) and you can use your imagination. I love the innovative designs and I think hair is so fun to play with! Try it out before you knock it ;-)
