I'm reasonably sure the engis in BF2 couldn't disarm C4 (they could still disarm mines) but it wasn't as big a deal because C4 camping wasn't as viable, at least in my experience. The people who would C4 camp would rather go Support and just spam infinite grenades as their choice of no skill kills.
