  • Love both versions . . . both the Weller-sung version on "Introducing," and this version which was on "Café Bleu/My Ever-Changing Moods" . . . however, I think this one works better.

  • lovely<3 :)

  • This is the first single version, on cafè bleu, and absolutely my best preferred. But paul's singing the ghosts of dachau...

  • This song belongs to the very bottom of our hearts, our first love desappointments, the way we used to think and feel..

  • LOVING YOU KUULEI

  • slow and draggy though.

  • they don't make music like this anymore...purely wonderful...

  • I'm sitting on a beach in Cornwall, it's November 1984, the wind is whipping round me, I am huddled up to keep warm but my Walkman is playing this song over and over and over again and I am lost in the music. I am always transported back there everythime I hear this.

  • @luvchesterb 4 sure lol happy days.....wish i cud bring em back

  • ah, the soundtrack to my teenage longing for unattainable, beautiful women who were at the time swanning around France being sophisticated and bilingual...

  • This was the theme song to my first love affair - so many years ago. I know she must think of me, too, when she hears this. We were so young, but when we listened to music like this, we felt mature and love was eternal.

  • beautiful

  • an English soul song ..wonderful...Mick's finest hour on piano :))

  • Comment removed

  • yeah... to all the people that had no clue they were loved so intensely

  • Kudos to Paul for choosing Tracey to sing this version.. I love the brush on the drum to give the effect of constant falling rain on a lazy, grey, Paris afternoon.

  • CAFE BLEU -best Style Council album EVER!! this song reminds me of...so many past

  • One on my all time faves, one of the all time best written

  • its really difficult to think of her &

    she isnt around.

this song is perfect to think

of her voice & her touches.

this song touches my mind &

reach my heart. i'm better now

  • sigh..............the anthem for the hopeless romantic. "I wish I knew where you are?!"

  • Amazing.. pure romance at it's best... this is the kind of song that you want to dance only with your soulmate... Viva Romance

  • Super voice, and great songwriting from Mr Weller.

  • Stunning!

  • Ben Watt, Tracey Thorn, Mick Talbot, Steve White & Chris Bostock, but NO Paul Weller playing on this song!

  • @7deacons Did Weller write this? Great song.

  • Funny how we spend our lifes looking for big things, making plans and finally just little things in life this fulfill your mind

  • i've been looking for this for a long time!

  • Are you kidding me? There are no words.

  • ....

  • Haunting and beautiful song....wonderfully written and sung.

  • un'opera d'arte: testo musica e interpretazione. Stupendo!

  • great song .. love them since im 12 .. great piano ..+ traqcy is always great .. my son falls in sleep listening it ...

  • @hunpolo yep me too think i was 14 when first got Cafe Bleu

  • If only you had half the voice of God that she has. And to make a blanket statement about the British is just plain stupid (I am a Yank, by the way). So Sade and Sting cannot sing jazz? Besides, this was not meant to be jazz a-la Ella Fitzgerald. When you come close to the success and talent of this woman, you can talk.

  • It's not jazz, as such. She's guest singing on a Style Council Album which is Mod/Soul. You may love Tracey if you check her out with her duo 'Every thing but the Girl'. Their eclectic but always v.good.

  • You're right. I stand corrected. EBTG was a great band.

  • This woman can't sing well?? You moron. May you remain stuck in the elevator.

  • @supermaxim109 Go back to your Justin Bieber and Lady Ga Ga CDs you fucking troll! You would not know talent or soul if it bit you on the ass.

  • Weller's version much better, but this one goes easily listened to in the magnificence of the Capé Bleu album. Plus, Tracy's a goddess.

  • Maravilhosa versao dela.. SPaulo/Brasil

  • elegant...romantic...pure style

  • Indeed They are The Stlye Council. Wellcome everyone to the council.

    Thanks Paul and Mike

I couldn´t conceive such a hard life without a bit of relax time like this. Somehing thrills in my inside when I listen to this jewel. Thanks again

  • i aggree .. ) very stylishhhh . great swing , brings back memories...

  • Quality takes you back to a better time

  • i know exactly where your coming from!!!

  • @noonoobelle69

you mean 1986? cafe bleu reminds me of the desperate times after the School Strike (in uk) of April 1985: producing leaflets on a manual printer listening to this, trying to agitate the industrial workers to at least defend themselves against Thatcher govt running riot.....

  • @noonoobelle69

    Indeed

    But this songs is timeless

  • this is the album version on cafe bleu and wellers version was on dutch import lp introducing

  • What a song! One of Wellers best ballards and so many memories

  • GREAT ALBUM! :)

  • I really liked both versions (Paul's & Tracy's) of this song equally but now that I got a look at the face behind the voice...well...we have a winner!

  • There is also a version with Dee on vocals.

  • I have been looking for this for over a year! At last sweet reunion...

  • Wow, it's 1986 all over again! Fantastic!

  • i want to scream, this songs brings back too many great memories!

  • absolutely

  • Doesn't he look like a Vulcan at 3:45?

  • I like this version a lot. It's an appropriately mellow arrangement for such a melancholic song.

  • essa musica é maravilhosa,sensacional

  • Definitely a classic. Always makes me feel like sitting in an empty bar at three in the morning ...

  • @progduke

It takes my back to the summer when i was younger. Sitting in a beach towel with the breeze caressing my skin...

  • aw, sasha pivovarova & snejana.. doesn't get better then that! also beautiful song!

  • this is a classic...love it!

  • Side one of Cafe Bleu had 2 fantastic songs: My Ever Changing Moods (piano and voice only version) and Tracey Thorn/Ben Watt doing The Paris Match.

  • always love this song, being a hardcore ebtg disciple, i knew all along that it was unmistakably tracey - reason why i like it the first time i heard this - and that was a decade ago?

  • And Ben on guitar, which makes it twice as "extra," as the French like to say (I think).

  • Always loved this song. I never knew it was Tracey Thorn. Makes sense though. Paul Weller's a pop genius.

  • Don't forget Mick Talbot's tasty piano work on this, too. It well deserves a mention, wouldn't you agree?

  • incredible version....smoooth jazzy-lounge liked...pauls version is raw and very passionate! a duet will be unbelievable

  • I am EBTG fan.I watch this site that I know

Tracey Thorn resupect the style council.

And I like japanese music unite paris match too.

  • Whoa fuck i've been a EBTG fan since the eighties and never realised it was Tracey Thorn on this cafe bleu version, Paul Weller does the vocals on The Collection album version. Thanks for educating me lol.

Cool taste in music btw, PJ Harvey and The Smiths ☺

  • que buenos tiempos y que tremendo temita? me encanta Weller & Talbott y por supuesto EBTG

  • thats definitely true what a great band and paul is brilliant

  • A great version of a great song by a great songwriter!!

  • Paris... fall of '88. Rainy days. Barets. Baguettes. Beujolais...

  • ...Empty nights with nothing 2 do I sit and think,,, every thought is for you.. I get so restless and bored

So I go out once more I hate to feel so confined.. feel like I m wasting my time..

Who didn´t live something like this during his/her life?? Who didn´t wait by the phone to ring?? Strange thing the human heart.

Thanks Style Council You´re a part of me..

  • One of the first album I bought ! loooong time ago! I still love love listen to this fantastic music!

  • GOD I wish there was more music out there like this! Tracey Thorn is without a doubt the most unique female vocalist I have ever heard. To HELL with Hanna Montana!

  • ha ha!...funny!

  • sensuale e stilosa da morie.

  • e magnifica e specialle

  • This song creeps me out. I made a music video to it and combined footage from the concentration camps and declining days of the war. I actually had the piano solo synched up to bombing. The video was awesome, and because of it, now I have difficulties listening to this song. The idea was juxtaposing such vile images over a pretty song. I still love the song, but.....Damn!

  • And why did you do that?? strange idea to make a mix between such a beautiful song and such a disgracefull disaster of the humankind,,,

  • This is one of my favourite songs, I know this song (this version) since the 80s; if I would go to the desert and choose 10 songs, this would be one of them; I never saw Tracey singing this song, ... does it exists?

  • As Leonardo or Velazquez or Mozart it requieres a lot ot talent and art to create such a beautiful song: the rithm, the piano playing, Tracy´s voice as a caress, everything´s is in the right place. Actually Im thinking ´bout a promenade in Paris with the falling leaves, the music of an accordion playing away, lovers gazing each other finding a new world in each one´s eyes, The same in Hide Park or another places can apply.

    Just enjoy it guys!!!

  • you can get this version on the album cafe bleu by the style council

  • Excellent. "I am only sad in a natural way". What an elegant way of espressing it. "The gift you gave is desire". Just great. Way to go Tracey. One of my best song ever. Takes me back in time and forward with hope everytime I listen to this jewel. Grazie

  • The gift you gave is desire..

    Txs again Mike & Paul

  • VERY NICE 5 STARS ☆☆☆☆☆

  • Erika I just saw your profile .. extraordinary. Is a pleasure to have a person like over here. LOL!!

  • The match that started my fire!!!. I ve been away on holydays for a week and when I hear this tune always the same thrill...

  • THANK THANK YOU for uploading this! I'd always heard rumors about this version with Tracey, but had never actually heard it! Merci bien!

  • inspirational, as worn by the jam!

  • Who doesn´t remember a missing lover hearing: "I wish I knew where you are..."??

I remember those teenage days close to the sea when you knew someone brand new, special "better advice is have no regrets" that have clouded your mind"

Thousand ok thanks Paul, Mike and Tracy for creating this nostalgic place to join all of us

  • I understand you totally emiliosanchez.

You just sent me to the sea.

On a windy day, sand blowing away.

    Thanks.

  • Totally agreed nerount.

Actually when I go the beach I try to look backwards in the past but it seems everything´s has changed. Playing this song in my ipod, feeling the breeze in my skin and a quite nostalgia invades me...Could such a beutiful song ever die??

This is just a part of us that softy cloudes our minds...

  • between the best songs of 80s.

this music is an invitation to best

nights. i remember my best parties

    between rio and montevideo.

thanks to share & its a beautiful video.

  • These guys had a love affair with the French and the feeling was reciprocal.

I lived in Paris when Cafe Blue was on the charts and the French loved the album.

  • a very cool album...I´m glad I could enjoy it when young!!!

  • It was a standard part of any collection in the '80s if you lived in France.

I enjoy it very much. I'm glad you do, too.

  • How incredibly chic,Arkady63!

    Patricia

  • Oui, oui! ;-)

  • God, I love Tracey!

  • Such a lovely voice...But the music From Paul Weller helped her... Perfect communion...!!!...

  • after 25years...so fresh

  • So fresh and romantic... I do agree...

  • I remember when this song was released, I fell in love instantly.....

  • NÃO HÁ EXPLICAÇÕES.

  • ricordi...

  • fantastic underrated tune....cheesy video i must say

  • tracy thorn's voice is unmatchable.

  • A silky smooth voice in a cool mellow song, a brilliant combination.

  • This song reminds me also of my year abroad in Copenhagen in 1987. I memorized every single word of this song, wanting to be like TT. How amazing voice she has.

  • This songs reminds me of my year abroad program in Bayswater,London in 1986; its melancholy and beautiful at the same time. It wss the happiest time of my life. Thank you Style Council and TT

  • Remember that song as a young man. I played the part. It was fun.

  • fantatic tune..the video is kinda cheesy though...

  • Perfect match. Paul's sublime original and TT sounding so inconsolable.

Both eminently listenable. Pretty sure I prefer both now.

  • Added to my "Vocalists" playlist.

  • melt is right! though I wish she'd break go en francais like paul did.

god its such a wonderfully depressing nostalgic song. I want to be a match!

  • I'm the wife of the account holder posting. I've been looking for this song since I destroyed my import EP years ago. God I love this version. I melt.

  • A rainy autumn afternoon in Paris...staring out the window...not a lot to do today.

It's busy out there but in the musty apartment where my flatmates and I live it's quiet. I finally have the place to myself for a couple of hours.

I make a fresh pot of Lavazza, light another cig and turn on bad, dubbed television.

I fan through today's Herald Tribune, bought this morning along with 20 Marlboro and a litre of UHT milk.

My student days of Paris back in the 80s. Nothing like it...

  • where, oh where in heaven's name, is Mick Talbot now? The world desperately needs to know the genius behind this awesome piano riff... =)

  • Some really classy piano playing by Mick Talbot too.

  • Tracey Thorn is the TRUTH! She could sing me a lullaby anytime

  • Like you know shit...

  • cock

  • bigox8 is the cock for calling Cafe Bleu a disgrace.

  • Simply the most beautiful song of TSC. Great song

  • amazing song ! memories ! xxx
