And if it came down to me getting a dress for the dance or my dad getting shoes he'd need for everyday....I'd go with the shoes. And me and my dad aren't as close as Becky is with her dad. And I'm two years older than she is.

Roseanne should not have told Dan to return the shoes to buy Becky that dress. First the dress looks ugly on Becky, & 2nd she only wore that dress once, maybe twice. Dan would have worn those shoes dozens of times. The shoes were more important than the dress. Kids need to learn that stuff is expensive & that money doesn't grow on trees, & they need to learn that they can't get everything they want in life. There's no reason why Becky couldn't have worn a dress she already had.

I think things were different then. You actually got waited on by salespeople. I was a young kid then and when my parents took me shoeshopping, there'd be a sales guy or woman who'd measure my feet with some metallic thing and then bring me the appropriate size from outback if they didn't have it in front. Nowadays, I just do everything myself. But I wonder when they stopped helping people.

@JayLo082606 jesus, what do you want, she apologized, and even said she didn't need anything new, would wear something she already had, i most def would have bought her the dress if i could have after that, it shows maturity to apologize and understand that sometimes you can't afford things, she's a TEENAGER, throwing "whiney (whiny) ass bitchy fits" is what they do

@xXxXBleedPurpleXxXx I agree 100%. See you and I live in the world where an apology means something. This is a trend that is really scary. It seems since the turn of century (year 2,000) everyone has become so cynical and unwilling to accept any kind of apology.

@matthatter56 somewhere along the line two things happened, people forgot how hard it is to apologize, mainly because they prob don't do it much themselves because god knows they are perfect, and "i'm sorry" became insignificant as people use it so much but don't really mean it. the world has gotten very manipulative i think.
