Have you seen the Korean movie, The Butcher? This, along with the Japanese movie Grotesque, I found to be more disturbing than A Serbian Film (I'm waiting for a subbed version of Melancholie to come out, so I haven't seen that yet). I haven't seen either of these movies in lists of "most disturbing movies" and I'm curious as to why.
I placed "grotesque" at No.40 in the first part (#50-#26) of this video. I didnt rank it higher due to the fact that it is all about brutality and torture but to me it widely failed in creating any atmosphere or disturbing feelings. I havent seen 'The Butcher' so I cant argue about that.

Is The Poughkeepsie Tapes on your other list? Maybe it's because gore or sexual depravity seems more silly and like they're trying to hard to me, but I found that movie more disturbing than many on this list, though I haven't seen your number one. The killer just seems so realistic. Despite the character being eccentric among serial killers because of him changing his M.O. the way he acts and the victim's reactions just seems so real.

Hey for what it's worth I have seen the Poughkeepsie Tapes, it's a documentary, a bit disturbing, but actually an interesting movie outright. It's got a few rather nice plot elements (don't want to spoil it) that occur in the movie and feels very much like one of those "Real Crime: Boston Strangler" type shows.

Glad you metioned that, I see it the same way. And this also answers the question that one guy posted here concerning me rating "Girl Hell" over "Niku Daruma". ND is much more gory but it is a straight forward splatter movie while GH creates a psychological and social picture filled with sick and demented characters.
@youngmarcio I personally wouldn't bother with Hostel 2, The Hills Have Eyes, The Exorcist, and Requiem For A Dream. They were gory and groundbreaking, but they weren't disturbing. They haven't made me look away from the screen in disgust, smiling because it supresses the gag reflex. I can watch any of those, any day, any time, and be fine. But I was truly disgusted and enlightened during Human Centipede.

Once were Warriors: For a girl like me it is a quite dusturbing thought to live under circumstances and in a situation like they are discribed in that film. Thats the reason I chose this movie.

I was sure A serbian film would have made it to number one but it trully is disturbing as hell to watch, I'm gonna definately look into watching The Angels Melancholia.
- Honestly I HATE "Irreversible" for the annoying camera work, the sound and the inverted story telling. Had to view it in fast forward so the rape and the FE scene might not work as stand alone. "I spit ... " is a good rape&revenge film but I was not disturbed. Haven't seen "Forced Entry".
- I think I got a copy of "Cannibal" but still have to watch it.
- Heard rumors about "Cafe Alphonse" but up to now I havent found any reliable info on it.

So I just finished it. I assume the fact that there are absolutely no subs(that I could find)for this movie that I lost a lot of its effect.There were some good, sick scenes, especially near the end, but overall, besides those scenes, the movie dragged for me, as i didn't understand a damn word they said lol.I assume f i had subs/spoke german, this would be great.Not quite a number one in my opinion, but definably up there.Mordum and Serbian still rank as my tops Serbain's ending was just, damn

Thanks ;) In fact its not that easy to tell much about 'The Angel's Melancholia' cause its one of those flicks you have to see yourself to get an impression. Generally you'll find elements both of arthouse movies as well as sicko films in it. Recently I found a review saying that TAM is a work of art "drowning in an ocean of blood, sperm, feces and vomit". Not the worst discription IMO^^. You can find a trailer here on YT but it wont tell very much about those 160min ride.
Sounds like something worth watching, especially if it beats out Mordum and Srpski film. I'm gonna download it tonight and watch it and let ya know my thoughts, as I'm looking forward to seeing it, thanks to your list!

Yeah I've seen many of the other top dusturbing movies lists on youtube and I can say that they all have one thing in common: bad rock music that makes no sence ;)

The band has changed their name some time ago, look for "Grausame Töchter" instead. I guess there are some videos on YT .

I was sure A serbian film would have made it to number one but it trully is disturbing as hell to watch, I'm gonna definately look into watching The Angels Melancholia.

- Honestly I HATE "Irreversible" for the annoying camera work, the sound and the inverted story telling. Had to view it in fast forward so the rape and the FE scene might not work as stand alone. "I spit ... " is a good rape&revenge film but I was not disturbed. Haven't seen "Forced Entry".
- I think I got a copy of "Cannibal" but still have to watch it.
- Heard rumors about "Cafe Alphonse" but up to now I havent found any reliable info on it.

So I just finished it. I assume the fact that there are absolutely no subs(that I could find)for this movie that I lost a lot of its effect.There were some good, sick scenes, especially near the end, but overall, besides those scenes, the movie dragged for me, as i didn't understand a damn word they said lol.I assume f i had subs/spoke german, this would be great.Not quite a number one in my opinion, but definably up there.Mordum and Serbian still rank as my tops Serbain's ending was just, damn

Thanks ;) In fact its not that easy to tell much about 'The Angel's Melancholia' cause its one of those flicks you have to see yourself to get an impression. Generally you'll find elements both of arthouse movies as well as sicko films in it. Recently I found a review saying that TAM is a work of art "drowning in an ocean of blood, sperm, feces and vomit". Not the worst discription IMO^^. You can find a trailer here on YT but it wont tell very much about those 160min ride.

Sounds like something worth watching, especially if it beats out Mordum and Srpski film. I'm gonna download it tonight and watch it and let ya know my thoughts, as I'm looking forward to seeing it, thanks to your list!
