It amazing how bitter people can be because something isnt in Orlando. The reason Cypress Gardens failed is because either money was a factor or personal issues got in the way.But Legoland is a Global theme park compared to local Cypress Gardens Adventure park
I live in florida and I am a lego fanatic! Thisll be a dream come true for me and my family. Seems like a competition with Disney. I think it'll be a huge success!
Well given how amazing Legoland Billund, Windsor and California are, I think this will be quite successful. I am looking forward to seeing it, and with WDW in such a quality decline, I could actually see Blackstone/Merlin getting more of our money than Disney in a few years.
Legoland florida is going to have to do alot to compete with disney world! Probably attract more tourists though as cheaper! They also stole legoland windsors biggest ride jungle coaster!
This is gonna be great. With all the Lego Maniacs out there, this will be a success. I'm the biggest Lego Maniac in my family. This is a dream come true.
I better start saving for this trip now or the kids will run away on their own! By the time it opens the economy will hopefully have turned around and Legoland FLA will benefit.
wrong but correct! Merlin runs legoland but Blackstone group runs Merlin So there for they are both run by the same company. I work at the California legoland and we do get discount tickets to sea world and free admission to the UK parks, some wax museum, and the other legoland parks. We also get alot more employee perks.
These guys got scammed. This place is too far away from Orlando. They should have just bought some property near I-Drive. The reason no one went to Cypress Gardens is that it's too far away in the middle of nowhere. Give it 3 years and they will fold. These Europeans will looses a lot of money. I hope not, but they don't get it.
99.9% of Floridians don't know where Cyress Gardens is. and 1/2 of 1% don't even know where Winter Haven is. Maybe I'm one of them? This is a park that needed to go under years ago and now will cost lego a lot of money. They got suckered into it.
I don't know. Merlin is the 2nd largest theme park operator worldwide (after Disney). And if you include Universal & SeaWorld, Blackstone (Merlin's parent) is probably the biggest theme park opeartor worldwide. Something tells me that they didn't purchase this place on a whim. I bet they know exactly why Cypress Gardens closed, and they have some ideas of how to make this place work. Plus, I'm reminded of Hershey Park which is also located in the middle of nowhere and they seem to do okay.
How could a business get scammed when they're responsible for doing adequate research? Winter Haven is a growing city as well as Polk County. It is close to the exact middle between Tampa and Orlando which allows for traffic from both locations. Plus, one can't determine if it was a good deal for them or not without first knowing how much they paid for the property. Cypress Gardens is on the same lake that million dollar homes are on. It is the premier lake in the city. The land alone has value.
Whatever. These Europeans think it's Florida and tourism is Florida. It's not. it's Orlando and to a lesser degree the east coast. This will be a money pit for them and they will abandon it inside of 5 years. I hope I'm wrong.
Its the same way for Legoland california. when tourists come they make the stroll from the zoo, wild animal park legoland then up to disneyland. All the Legolands do well attandance wise. in fact The california park had a record attendance this year. And as Florida being a major tourist spot as it is the park will do fine!
Now all we need is a Six Flags and Cedar Fair park by Orlando and then there'll be big time competition between the parks!

I wonder if the gardens are as safe as in the Heide Park, where nearly all unique gardens and resting places have been gone.

Yes, the location isn't perfect. But I think they can make it work if they do the following:
1. Ticket prices have to be cheaper than Disney
2. Offer a lot of discounts/promotions, preferably ones that include Universal, SeaWorld, and Busch Gardens
3. Offer bus service (and maybe an airport shuttle) from Orlando & Tampa
4. Build hotels either on or near the site
Plus, keep in mind that the location wasn't the only reason for CG's demise. Taking away the rides didn't help them.
