Bring back the 60's. Sprinkle LSD on the kiddies breakfast cereal. That'll get them off their fucking computers and have them running around and exercising a bit more (lol)
well a few of you seem to still have the single - how about putting up " Tally Ho". It's great to read some of these comments - I thought I was the only one who remembered stuff like that! BTW I was 16 yoa in 1969.
I always thought the lyrics to Tally Ho "was big brown box.....and big fuck'n hips". I've got the single, it's on the reverse side of Linda Sue Dixon (LSD). I'll get it out and play it again.
By the way - thanks heaps for putting it up. I have been looking for it for some time. Although I have it on cd it deserves recognition in a much wider audience. The song got to about no.6 in the Aussie charts, It is pity the ban means there is probably no TV clips of the wheels performing it. I dont think they ever made it to Australia - another pity.
In Oz the song was not banned and got considerable airplay. I just loved it. According to Glenn A Baker the 'b' side tallyho had an expletive that made it a hit on juke boxes here - I was too young to recall this. Definitely one of their - I cannot understand the hype about earlier stuff not as good as this. I have a CD of rare hits with it on.
I agree, great song. You are correct that the song was not banned, but was pulled from airplay by some radio stations (2SM Sydney comes to mind). I remember buying this single at the time of its release, only to find out days later that it had been withdrawn from sale because of the lyrics on Tally Ho! It became a real collector's item.
Hoodoo Gurus did a more upbeat version of LSD about 20 years later.
i saw the hoodoos do the song live on tv and was obsessed by it for ages but i could never track down a version (these were the days before the internet) and all of a sudden, i thought to look up the song on youtube. so glad i did!
MotownMaster, this was after Mitch Ryder left to go solo. He went to Dynavoice for one song called "Blessing In Disguise". They also left New Voice and ended up at Motown's Inferno label for a few songs.

It was a big hit in Sydney and I bought it. It was also very controversial. Thanx for the memories.

think about the initials of the girl in question then add the lyrics to this thinking... then you will see why it was banned

Yep the flip side of this was "Tally Ho"
With lyrics like "Tally Ho she has a real fine box" & "her fucking lips" it was bound to be popular
I've still got my copy of the single in the cupboard somewhere
