  • The shorter you are, the easier this is. It does take a fair level of fitness, though.

  • i still think figure skating is harder. i have was gymnast when i was 3-4 years old to i was 7 and then i started figure skating when i was 6 and the gymnastic got boring i think. but in figure skating we are doing things like that to warm up before ice, and off-ice training, so i think figure skating is hardest. but this kind of crunches exercises are really really hard, so donøt comment before you have tried it!

    they use toes to hold... you just tense them and it'll be easy! you'll be surprised how strong your toes are!

  • I'm actually a gymnast. The things we do are HARD ASS HELL. Like no one can actually imagine. At times it could be hell. But yes, we're super strong and deal with the pain and don't complain. Anyone who thinks it's not hard, try atleast living one day in the world of gymnastics.

  • First off is it just me or is the song choice a little ironic? Anyway..... those little girls are talented! Guys at my school always say that Gymnastics doesn't count as a sport so i show them this and then tell them to try...needless to say they shut up.

  • Gymnastics is one of those sport that you really have to start young unlike many other sports.

  • @XF108FINALE not completely true. i started in 8th grade and was in the 1st period class which really sucked cuz it was basically the knock-off class so we hardly learned anything and so on and i only really learned to do a punch front, handstand, and back handspring. in 9th grade i was moved up to my high school gym team and id say i was doing pretty well since it was (what i would consider) my first year of gym and they already had me competing in the meets

  • @XF108FINALE -and now that im in 10th grade i can do even more. just saying its not impossible to build up semi fast. for us (my team), all it takes is spirit, devotion, and workouts from 3 to 6 every day :)

  • @XF108FINALE Why would you have to start young? Strength and flexibility can be developed at any age. I am starting gymnastics at the age of 28, sure I'll never go to the olympics but neither do more than 98% of people who start gymnastics at the age of 2.

  • @flexyV10 while gymnasts are stronger than cheerleaders (most of the time), cheerleaders do still have to be incredibly strong. You try lifting a girl above your head, letting her twist a couple times than catching her, while putting a smile on your face. It's hard. You try it.

  • I can do these. About 5 reps. Can do more if I have proper protection or cushion.

  • I think body proportions matter. For example, I have long legs, and I have trouble lifting them. I can do 100+ situps but only like 30 v-ups. Someone with a long torso might have the opposite.

    I'm NOT saying "small" kids have it easy, but I do think height/weight matters too. A very young girl at my gym, who is definitely not among best performing, can do 200 elbow leg lifts, while the highest-scoring AND tallest gymnast on the level 5 team can "only" do 60. :/

  • uhhh this bothers me so much, i wish my family was rich so that i could have been pampered in sports of gym, cheer, and ballet and just fly around the place doin flips and stuff :P looks so fun but, only the wealthy people can have it i guess cuz u have to start young

  • @VERITYISAWSOME Not really, I just joined cheerleading and one of the main things I love to do is tumbling, which is the gymnastics main floor stuff, the flipping around and all that, I have been in cheerleading for two years I was 18 when i started with no background experience in flipping of any sort. Learnt and watched youtube videos and now 1 year and 1/2 later, Im doing as well as most gymnasts skill wise in there 4 - 5th years in gymnastics!, Dont stop believing

  • @VERITYISAWSOME gotta start somewhere, I started off with back tucks, now Im on the my Open level 6 co ed team, doing standing fulls, and other unique lines. No special training, no money, (my family hates the fact im cheerleading so i had no support). Was never in gymnastics, all I had was the right mind set, and never stopped trying, cause if someone else can do it, what is stopping me from doing it. So yeah, now Im working on my standing doubles to make sure, I can make it on team canada. :)

  • well, I still say it's easy, I can do those with no problem, and I don't train pure gymnastic. It's actually more of an active flexibility challenge, than strength, and it doesn't take that much conditioning to be able to hang on your feet. But to give credit where it's due, I agree that advanced gymnastics require superhuman strength, this video is just a wrong example. If you want to see strength, look up iron crosses or manna, I even seen 4 yrs old girl, doing 5 muscle ups :)... that's power
