  • the solo does sound alot like stairway to heaven but id rather listen to this anyday

  • what i want to know is what the fuck is the camerman doing focusing on Mani when John Squire is doing one of the best guitar solos of all time?

  • A complete rip off of Stairway. Piss Poor....

  • @chairmanmeow1973 FUCK STAIRWAY!...hippy cunt

  • @chairmanmeow1973 doubt it

  • Oh my god, I used to be able to play all of this!! Brings back memories, this does...awesome song.

  • chills.... literally....

  • Can't be bettered.. I've searched for studio version and only stumbled upon this classic... from Brixton no less. Because every time I tried searching studio.. i get that crappy server error thingy.... This is the real deal..!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mindblowing!! Ian brown sounds like ian brown. I love his voice. It was part of the roses unique sound. The second coming is one of the greatest albums of all time. End of

  • 8 people r gettin headbutted

  • @GraemeK310 make that 9

  • @GraemeK310 who by?? someone with the name of greame??? greame?? ner

  • Awful. Ian Brown sounds like an out of tune foghorn, and Robbie Maddix didn't have a clue. The Roses were over the day Reni left.

  • Great band. and nice "chullo" from Perú that he´s wearing.

  • Great band. and nice "chullo" from Perú that he´s wearing

  • I'd give my right eye to see the Roses perform at this time...

  • I was also here this night And remember the concert very well. It was truly extraordinary. Will never forget.

I also saw the last concert they did in Reading. It was different.

  • Even for Second Comings faults (i think its a good, solid rock album. Which when compared to the sheer sky-scraping genius of the debut is a comedown. but, yknow - theyd earned it.) i heard that they were amazing on this tour. A mate of mine, who didnt like second coming, saw them in '95 and still rates it as the best gig hes ever seen.

  • a lot of people comment and say that the magic had gone when reni left, did them people see them on the second coming tour of the UK? i very much doubt it,coz they were tight, brown was as good as can be,squire was dynamite, mani was mani and robbie jay played bloody good drums.i saw them 6 times in all, from hacienda all the way thru to the shambolic reading performance.and anybody who said the magic had gone, obviously never saw the roses on this tour!

  • @rbitsandbobs cant believe i never saw them

  • the drop in this song never fails

  • What was Squire thinking, getting Ian Brown to do blues rock?? I love this song, but working class Mancs with strong Northern accents can not sing the blues!

  • @TMSB31 shut up you goon

  • @TMSB31 So who 'can' sing the blues? It's a genre of music created by, and is synonymous, with the working class. It's not about what's in the throat, it's about what's in the heart.

  • @deekay01 exactly

  • @TMSB31 your comment is ridiculous , js never got i.b to sing the blues you idiot

it's not even a blues song any person on earth can sing the blues if they have the balls . never mind working class mancs , howlin' wolf is the blues this is just an epic live workout , no respect from manchester.....

  • @TMSB31

This is not blues you nugget.

  • @PegGonzalez technically its pentatonic, a form of blues

  • @stoob1969

    Clearly, this isn't the blues.

  • You can see the love has gone by this point. The joy that filled them has left the building. It is a good song but it is sad to see. You can tell the crowd sense it.

The Stone Roses were Ian, Reni, Mani and John. After Reni left they weren't the same band. The spark went.

  • john squire is god. any brown fanatics too stubborn to admit should listen to this song over and over and over again. very few come close to squire in his generation. what a shame he's been overshadowed by a semi-talented wank

  • ditto anthype, rediscovered this song at Whitley Bay Ice Rink. Simply Amazing........ So glad I got to see them live. TUNE!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember this at whitley bay was mint u never forget quailty and was recked lol

  • Stunning

  • You're damn right about Reni! What a drummer!! what a band and what a legend! Only drummer that comes close is Jimmy Chaimberlain (Smashing pumpkins) or Chili's drummer!

  • was it cold in there? jackets and hats on the band. i thought it was hot under the stage lights...

  • why reni? WHY?? couldn't you have stayed for a leg of a tour? it would have been so nice to have some live 2nd coming concerts recorded with the best drummer in the world!

  • 5:35 to 5:50 ! that's what I call guitarr.

  • mani's bass, reni's drums and squire's guitarr is good enough for me.

I think ian's voice fits this music.

  • shame reni had left the band by then

  • @thomasedmundrichards

Now that would be epic fail

  • Ian Brown can't sing to save his life, but John Squire is the White Knight armed with his guitar here to save the day. Awesome!

  • Ian Brown = best possible pick for Stone Roses' lead vocal

Fuck it, dude really doesn't have 8 octave vocal range, but he is nothing but spirit, heart and pure energy!

  • saw the roses reading rivermead centre 95.ians vocals were overshadowed by the power and drive of the band.one of the best gigs of my lfe.they were unreal

  • hail john squire. the best solo in any song ever in the history of music. check out the album version.

  • all hail john!! but you cant fault the lyrics!(even if the vocals are not top of his game) but fs everyone we all new he was a shitty singer! he just oozes cool! liam an noel will never fill there shoes!

  • john wrote the lyrics too

  • The song was written solely by Squire, music and Lyrics, like 2/3 of Second Coming

  • thank you for sharing.

  • No Stairway!

  • nice clip...

  • I'm cryin', this song is so f***in' wonderful!!

  • Our love, girl, is going through changes

I dont know if im alive, dead, dying or just a little jaded

    Someone throw me a line

You know i need it, i need it bad

Lost in a maze of my own making

No way out that i can find, send home your hard working jury

    Im going down this time

Youd better believe it, yes, you had

  • John is just amazing

  • best guitar playin of all time. top notch stuff. mon john squire

  • Squire best guitar player ever.

  • @julainosvl toss up between him and johnny marr for me..

  • @julainosvl He is great but tbh this riff is pretty easy to play..

  • @ellycat I disagree. It may be easy to you,(and fair play to you!) and it may even be easy to get the basic riff down. But I think with with all the subtle little note-bends tucked away it's pretty tricky to get perfect.

That's 1 of the things I love about Squire's playing, the attention to detail.

  • @comanchio1976 I will post it up as soon as I am back in Manchester. I'm enjoying myself in Thailand at the moment :)

  • @julainosvl Well, there´s a guy called Jimmy Page to.

  • Comment removed

  • Belfast child.

  • the roses are my god and madchester is my church.......hallelujah..

  • @raith35 yeah, the Roses replaced religion for me around '97 or '98.

    Music is my religion.

  • Not that i was there or fuck all..

  • love squire here..sounds amazing.

  • Anyone know who plays piano in this live performance of Tears? Cheers.

  • Nigel Ipinson

  • Thanks for the reply!!! Cheers Andy!!

  • go on squire ya wee champion!!!!

  • Fuckin' love this tune....

  • Very Zepplin-like, not to mention very bad-ass.

  • Such good guitar/piano work :O

  • they wont get back together...

such a tune. squire - legend.

  • The Barnett likes this song, so I must love it too.

  • The Rolling Stones are still on the road... Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Police, The Doors, etc, all of them re-unite, do tour, gigs and stuff.

The only one act I've been waiting for to get togheter again, it is and it will be definitely the Roses.

  • Not Pink Floyd...Roger and David still don't feel like working their difference out and Rick Wright died of cancer a few weeks ago. :(

  • shiful i agree man best ive heard to uits brill!!!

  • Oh John, what a boy

  • best guitar solo ive ver heard.........not just technical prowess but its got soul. listen to it on the record. Ive been obsssing about all manner of guitar music for 15 years and this is still the best solo ever.

  • a superb song performed live, love the quick guitar change to! best song ever written and performed has got to be Good times, that solo seems to speak, incredible band

  • stridesy

I'm with you on the Good Times solo - technically perfect played with exceptional soul and penache - just makes you want to get up dance.

  • makes me want to pick up a guitar whenever i hear it.

  • Take Ian out and all you got left is RENI any other musicians can fill the shoes of Mani and John...Who is the Genius here buttmunch?

    A: Ian Brown

  • really? a guy who cant sing and co-writes all his songs also cant play(properly) any instruments? squire wrote the guitar lines for all the roses stuff and most of the lyrics, you come up with a song like waterfall then you have the right to say squire isnt a genius

  • miloroses, as much as i like Ian Brown, which is a lot, he's not got a quarter of the talent John has.

Squire pretty much wrote the Second Coming, apart from Straight To The Man (which the less said about the better really).

  • its safe to say that brown represents the roses without the direction and squire does the same with out the free spirited will. both together amazing, both seperate, still very good, but not amazing, if they like it or not, they were better together and need each other.

  • Fookin unbelievabaly brilliant!

  • classic song

  • You don't get it mate... his voice doesn't matter... it's still the bollocks anyway..

i actually feel sorry for you..

  • here here!

  • Truly appalling singing from Brown.

Big shame it doesnt match the musicianship of the rest of the band. Shouting in a bucket/drunken karaoke style is terrible.

Absolutely tuneless. Big contrast to Squire's playing which is magnificent.

  • shivers up me spine !

  • That is fucking incredible.

  • Is it me or does Ian Brown sound very very average?

"he ain't too young or pretty and he sure as hell can't sing" I think Squire was having a little poke at Brown there possibly!

  • Absolutely amazing!!! nothing more to say!!!

  • Indescribable genius!!!

  • Qaulity.............

  • legend

  • How is it possible for any band to be this good...

  • Exactly what I was thinking mate!!! How is it possible?!!!

  • love this performance, squires guitar is just epic.

  • savage savage savage

  • fucking great tune man, great fucking album too..!!!

wish the lads would get it together...shame they wont though!

  • Classic......... fucking classic.

  • I love this song, doesnt get mentioned as much as the others. Squire is the man on the guitar, acoustic-electric switch is spot on.

  • The best TSR´s song! Eu vejo o futuro no rastro de suas lágrimas!

  • best 5 songs of-alla-time,

    5 comfortably numb....floyd,

4 all along the watch-tower...hendrix version

    3 a day in the life...beatles

    2 wish-u-were-here..floyd (again)

    1....this...pure class!!!!

  • one of me fav roses tunes love it!

  • What a great song!!!!! nuf said....

  • The extra piano on this live version really adds to the song, pity it didnt make it to the final cut on the second coming (not to say it isnt a top track anyway). 'I've seen the future through the tracks of your tears'........

  • CHoooon....

  • i dont understand how he sings so good sometimes and utter shite at others hes class here and wot a fucking song.

  • Simply amazing. As good as it gets

  • anybody who doesnt think this band was the best ever, is wrong.....and a gay

  • I'm half gay and think their great.

  • .......i dont mean "gay" in the homosexual sense.....its local language where i come from for "un-cool".....plus insnt it "bi-sexual"? ive never heard anyone say "half-gay" before...lol!......hey if you wanna see some real homo-phobes, check out westbourgh baptists church....these freaks r off the chain!!

  • what a band, what a tune, makes me buzz every time i hear the stone roses!

  • best roses track ever

  • Genius

  • god like genius

  • How can you say god like genius, when this was written by Squire, in which Brown had no contribution.

  • You what? God like genius was the award he won as a solo artist, dick for brains, shut the fuck up.

  • i'm aware. i was asking the guy who left a comment about this video saying 'god like genius'; as though it was ian who wrote the track.

If it had been an Ian Brown solo video, then it would have been fine.

PS i hope you get run over.

  • their aint gonna b a better band than these geezers! EVER!

  • its all about browns attitude and swagger

  • THANK YOU TO THE TAPER- This band never sold out. They lived up to their name! This is the band Oasis floated away from as i love Oasis too, but its the Stone Roses never left the ground.

  • The stone Roses first album was the best album ever imo. However this is my favorite roses song. Browns voice was on the way down by the time of this live performance. Still better than anything i have heard by any band since.

  • BROWN AT HIS MOODY BEST...

  • ment to say oasis

  • yo mofo's wats the wanger. the stone roses injected a bit of pop where pop was needed. the second coming may have been usurped by definitely maybe but let's face it the 2nd coming shits all over anythin osis have ever done. word

  • i fuckin' love this video!!

  • I am surprised that the Roses did this live as I heard Ian Brown hated this song and for the album he would only sing it once.

  • I Dont give a crap what anyone says "Second Coming" was a Great Great album!!

  • .....it fucking was!!

  • no worries mate, this isn't pc dotcom calling. And your right, it is bisexual. I was just playing around with what you said. Then again I love all the slang terminology for those who bat 4 both teams.

  • indeed, "slang" is the "butter" in the "funny sandwitch of life"

  • .... AAAAND on a rare, politically correct level , for my good self,...im a massive fan of Mercury and Everett, actually i could go on further, and name names, but to me its just about those two!!!!.........espacially EVERETT..possibly my favorite human being of all time!

  • Freddie Mercury - One in a million ;-)...no other singer cud top him, not even come close,,,with the exception of Gary Mullen

  • ....P-S, DID you check out the westbourgh baptist church? you have to! they are hysterical.....its like something offa "south park" in real life!!

  • fantastic... thanks!

  • if reni was drummin and brown in good singing voice this would be a shit hot performance!

  • Ilove Squire best guitarist of my generation, but il never forgive him for tearin the roses apart,i loved his seahorses stuff, but why change musical direction when the roses were on top of the world.

  • Reni is completely annomous on this, mani's going through the motions - poor

  • The fact that he wasn't drumming for them anymore by this stage can only add to his anonymity...

  • yeh reni had left and replaced by robbie maddox in 94/95? i think, he was a decent drummer but a man with 4 arms couldnt even replace reni!

  • **************comedy gold here***************

  • Second Coming is really underrated

  • MEGA!

  • my name is john and i collect stamps

  • This is my favourite Roses track too. Cheers.

  • i like ommelettes and trains

  • i eat lego

  • John Squire surely must have something to offer musically. you can go from this to completely lame in such a short space of time. It's just not possible.

  • He released two brilliant solo albums and is reportably working on a third. The critics slagged off his solo stuff because they were expecting Stone Roses type stuff. His singing voice is decent and he can hold a tune, which is something Mr Brown has always struggled to do! Plus, his guitar playing was as amazing as always.

  • This is my favourite Roses track, I have never seen video footage of this before, cheers! Ians voice is surprisingly decent too. Its all about John though this one. What a solo!
