@iPOwLinda YES! I have an HD Radeon 5870 eyefinity card. Can output 6 displays! Run perfect. I was supposed to make a guide, but will put it off until lion comes out!
Very slick.. I may have to give the old Hackintosh a try again. Haven't done it in ~ 3 years. Only problem is I'm using a Sapphire HD5970 in my i7 rig now. I doubt there will be driver support worth a damn. But this may be cause for me to build another i7 system :). Might play around anyway. Will give me something to do with my 10.6.5 disk i got with my Mac Mini. going to add this to my favorites.
@hallis1 I havent made a video of my new configuration yet but I am running an AMD Sapphire HD 5870 Eyefinity 6. It takes a bit more to modify the 5970 driver but it is confirmed working :-)
i have a hackintosh to, iATKOS 10.6.3 core2due 4gb ham, nvidea 8400 512mb, works fine, but i don't know how i get the apple softwares, like final cut and iLife...
I have to buy the original license or I can download it....
@SynesthesianDreamer , hi , no not tried that , will do once home in a few days :) do i have to remove or add any kext to my sys/lib/extensions folder ? , i may have some installed wheere iv been muddling along ? am running latest empire efi bootloader from usb , does this make any difference ? is the HV50HAL a kext ? will add if so .. cheers.
@kenspocket Just insert that key into the PLIST first and then see what happens. Apple provides the HV50HAL driver already.. It will be loaded if the GraphicsEnabler can inject the correct values for you.
@SynesthesianDreamer i dont have the NV50HAL i have the NVDANV40Hal.kext , not sure if this makes any difference , what to do ?? do kexts clash if there in both extensions and extras extensions and cause issues ? , ?? i will try remove duplicates . any ideas ? my networking went down also..after last empire efi or was that 10.6.4 upgrade. nothings making sense here..
@Schiz94 USB 3.0 wont function at its intended speed under Mac OSX until they add driver support for it. You can disable the USB 3.0 in the BIOS or use it like normal USB 2.0
@ViciousDave4Life At the time of this video there were no Macs with Core i7's. They only had the intel Xeons. However, since Xeons and Core i7 share the same architecture, its effectively not any different. That description is just a string, I can make it say w/e I want. It now has the correct string that read Core i7.
@SVTFilms if you use the newest Chameleon RC4 release, there is a plist string you can insert that auto detects the video card and initializes the NVHAL50 kernel extension.
Your geekbench is definitely a a little low for that system...hopefully you've updated your install method by now...mine is higher, probably shouldn't be
With the new Boot-132 file, you can load what is called a vanilla install.... Basically it means yo distros u can install it from a bare retail disc. I do not recommend such as iDeneb or iPC. I used a USB instead of a disc, as it has less latency. For my logic board, I needed to add some drivers to the USB also, which is much easier than burning through a stack of DVDs
it is when you have 5 kids and a house to worry about instead. that is a REALLY nice set up though, not really good for my use but still nice nonetheless.
just a question i see you have final cut pro on there, I have final cut pro on my hackintosh as well, im using Asus p6t, just curious what you used to install it, and what version of final cut it is. thanks!
@danielefb - The firewire works fine. I have tested it. What doesn't work up to it's full potential is the USB 3.0 abd SATA 6. Those two new specs are not supported in Mac OSX at this time. They fall back to the legacy modes and work at those lower speeds.
Excellent work guy! I have almost exactly the same system running Win7. I have 6GB of Corsair Dominator PC3 15000 memory, an EVGA GTX275 graphics card, Pioneer Blu-Ray BDR-205BKS Optical Drive, 2 Seagate 1TB drives, i7-920 CPU and of course the P6X58D.
When I built this a few weeks ago I had no idea that it would be capable of loading osx86..
I was aware of the fact there was a community of individuals that were making this possible on a mix of various components but hadn't really looked into it until after I built my system.
I also have a Mac G5 but I'm dead ended on OSX updates because it's a PowerPC based system and as we know SL will only run on Intel based Macs. So it'd be great to set my new system up as a dual boot with both Win7 and SL.
I have almost the identical set of software applications on my Mac that you show in the video.
Anyway I'd love to see a step-by-step guide on how you were able to get this all set up, as I'm sure many others would as well.
I've learned an awful lot just in the last few weeks researching the various forums and experiences but I'm still somewhat confused on some of the finer details and could certainly use some "professional" guidance.
Thanks for the comments, and nice system specs you have there!
I was contemplating creating a step by step tutorial to help people with this wonderful logic board and CPU combination. Unfortunately I am swamped at work and with school so I don't really have the extra time to do a community video at the moment. Perhaps in May I will have time to make a 'proper' easy to follow guide.
There are already plenty of guides out there, but each board has it's own nuances that need to be addressed.
Hey I understand completely. This is a busy time of the year for me so I really don't have a lot of time to pursue projects like this either. I'll just slog through here and there and get it figured out eventually.

how do you install the drivers for 8800 gts 512 g92 ?? , and what kext's to remove ? thanks..

@kenspocket Have you tried using the plist key GraphicsEnabler=Yes? It will automatically detect the G92 and start the NV50HAL driver on boot.
