i think it's overrated. seriously, before using the word underrated, i wish people would do a quick google search on their subject. ico has huge amounts of praise heaped onto it, a lot of which consists of people calling it the first game that is true art, which i find to be an insult to both games that came before it and art itself.

If you notice right on the disc, it has the "compact disc" logo not the DVD logo.

Tekken Tag was also produced on a compact disc as opposed to a dvd as I recall.

the reason the disc is blue is because the game is cdr format becasue its only about 700 mb opposed to other games which are usually over a few gigs.

I've played it twice, and I enjoyed it the second time around! Actually, I found it almost equally hard x3 There are also some bonus features unlocked if you play it a second time. Like Yorda is subbed (in English!) and you can get a lightsaber from the secret room.

@Koopsas : If you have the PAL/JPN version, then perhaps, because after your first playthrough some extras will be unlocked for you, when you save at the end of the game. (These extras aren't present in the US version, nor can you save at the end of the game in the US version because it was rushed there.)

Blue discs were used for a short time in the PS2's early days. The bottom line is this: The blue discs were CDs, the normal discs were DVDs. Game's that could fit on a CD back then were often blue discs, while larger games were put on DVDs. This may have been an attempt to be more economic. Eventually, all games were written to DVDs.

i don't think t is under rated, most of the people who played it loved it. it is a matter that it has not been a well know game until SOTC came out and generated a lot of buzz about ICO. availability is also a factor, if i could get it for 20$ or 30$ USD at the store right now i would. i haven't seen it at the store for as long as i have known about it. it looks great though.

I don't have a blue disked ICO on game since mine is burnt onto a CD, which works fine with my modded PS2. This game rules, and IDK how the shadows remind you of heartless because to me there 10x more scary, and that coming from a 15 year old says something... anyways you can die if you fall off the ledge into like a "sky type looking environment", fall too far, like say I was on top of a huge building and I just free falled to the bottom of it, I would die, or have Yorda captured by shadows.

no, just like spyroth wrote blue discs are CD-Rom, while silver discs are DVD-Rom, many of the early games were on CD like tekken tag, ridge racer V, virtua fighter 4, ICO among many others, probably its just a problem with the ps2 laser lens. I have both the slim and the fat one, and both work well with the CD-Rom media.

i just finished this game... and it was AMAZING. there are only two problems: the combat is tedious at points and there's no reason to play it again once you beat it. but still, its a gem of a game. i think colossus is slightly better though because its actually fun to fight things there. but still, Ico is one of the best games I've ever played, Ps2 or not. I give it an A-

Great review,but there's also some major distortion issues with your mic, try changing EQ, and buying a sibilance pad if you wnat to do this porperly, which you could, it was a worthy and truthful review. Try also soundign more enthusiastic soemtimes.
