  • Long live immortal Hellas!

  • Very nice!!!:)

  • Athina is a great city. A little contradictional, but extremely interested. Yes, faces problems because of sins of the past (lack of much free space) and present (uncontrolled imigration), but still it's just unique... take the endless archaeological site promenade, go to kifissia for a coffee, go the uncoutable theaters, multiplexes, entertainment parks/quarters, go to vouliagmeni to swim, go to the olympic center,go to a pop concert, go to plaka for dinner, go...and you'll remember me...

  • hey that's my name!

  • the greeks invented everything!!

  • Athens is definitely the most underestimated capitols of Europe, and i have visited most of them!! I would say UNIQUE!!!

  • hAHhahaha i live in athens and believe me.. is not so amazing as it showns here... but yet the truth is that is a nice city. No, it is NOT the best city in the world. And that goes for the simple fact that each person likes different things. Athens doesn't have parks and generally trees as others european cities do. But the nightlife is sure one of the best. You can go out with no money at all in your pocket if you know the places and still have a great time :)

  • Athens is the best city in the world

  • The journalist is right, nightlife in Gazi is great! Glyfada is very cool too, but in the summer!

  • @GR3789 And what is particular in Gazi and Glyfada?

  • been there 13 times and still want to go every summer

  • I am asian boy and I like greek girls

  • ATHENS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Greece 4 ever!!!

  • athens is overpopulated, dirty, bad old and ugly buildings, but has a really amazing nightlife.you can go out a regular day for example Wednesday and see lots of people till in the morning.thats the coolest about athens.you can check gkazi, psyrri and many more areas that i even dont know

  • Indeed Athens improved a lot in the latest years.

Most people remember the Athens that was in the 70ies, 80ies and 90ies, but things started to change dramatically from the end of the 90ies- beginning of the new century.

If you go to Athens today you will be surprised :)

  • I was born in athens and in my view athens is one of the great citys ever. Its never boring there, but the city is a little bit dirty, because of the population

  • Dirty how? Grungy from the graffiti... yes. But there isn't much litter on the streets.

  • @nojyt That's right. I was there. IT's incredibly beautiful. I think maybe some tourists/visitors don't see the approprate areas or right things....LOL too funny though...

I'd give my left arm to go back. The area surrounding Athens, the villages, Santorini, the Mediteranean...are all paradise. The food was fresh. The tomatoes weren't gassed but vine ripe. The cheese and olives don't taste so delicious in Europe or America.

  • I live in Athens and i love this city in this video. But life in Athens is much more difficult

  • right mate...And the city in the video is definitely NOT athens :/

  • @svantearrhenius1 sorry to disappoint you but the city in the video is definitely Athens...! I am from Athens so let me know that better...

  • @svantearrhenius1 but it is, i was born there and im every summer there. and i know all the places in the video, if you dont trust me than aks google. glyfada gazi

    athens metro etc

  • @svantearrhenius1 AThens, Greece

  • Thank you kardasi

  • I love Athens it's one of the most amazing cities I've ever been to and if you know all the right places to go to your in for a real surprise. Go Greece

  • My rattled retail nerves are SO soothed now that Athens has D&G, Diesel and Ferragamo!

  • look im turkish...and i even know athens is beautiful.

But i still love Istanbul first.

Greeks and Turks are like brothers from another mother

  • Istanbul is beautiful however it was created by the Greeks but it is the modern Turks that continue to make it the amazing city it is today. :- )

  • Greetings kardash, thank you

  • first of all its not instambul but Konstantinoupoli and all the great things u have and the beautifull things are greek...thing...u still like a greek city i thing

  • @hakansukur20 There was a friend of me who visit me from Turkey, he liked Athens very much. He told me that he felt like he was in Istanbul, he liked much the music, the people, the city, everything.

  • you must learn and our Language haha

  • I've been to Greece, IT'S MY FAVOURITE COUNTRY!

  • athens is beautiful, soon it will be new paris

  • i'm proud of being half greek

what a beaufiful country with rich history

  • One of the places i like to hang out in when in Athens is the "Fokianos Negri" in Kipseli. Lots

of outdoor taverns, and a really neat place to see

young people and take a walk. Very cool.

    I Cr 13:8a

  • is greece a cute country? does it has big buildings like new york?

  • The fact that you're there, in the place where the foundations of the western civilisation was set makes it top place to visit for me. Don't really care about fancy hotels and cool bars, I just want to be among Greeks, those eccentric, ancient people and take a walk on Acropolis, were Plato and Socrates walked 2500 years ago. I'm told the place is hot, mysterious and electric...i shall see...

  • So true, last time I went to Acropolis I couldn't help but imagine that all the great Philosophers were standing there thousand years ago. It was like I traveled back in time.

  • I'll take Istanbul anyday thanks

  • you'll have a hard time trying to avoid all the annoying sellers/beggars and those who will be desperately trying to make you buy their stuff. But yea I guess there are more things to see / do in Istanbul than in Athens. And is way cheaper. So, I'd choose Istanbul over Athens but if I had more money/time, I'd choose Greece over Turkey anyday.

  • If you don't think there is a lot to do in Athens, then you probably haven't explored the city enough. It's really amazing how much most tourists miss out on, because most travel guides tend to steer visitors to the "tried and true"...Plaka, Syntagma, etc., when there is so much more to the city than that. If anything, the real "pulse" of Athens is usually away from these areas.

  • then please tell me where to go to see some alternative stuff ... I will be there in some days and am so bored because all i can find in the internet is the usual bloody tourist stuff.

I like to go where the students /independent music people / alternative people go.

with some rock'n'roll and funpunk going on ..

like some streets nearby reeperbahn/hamburg or (nowadays also very touristic, but not as much as city center) prenzlauer berg or kreuzberg in berlin...

    what about piräeus e.g.? :-(

  • Also, if you meet some locals that speak english then they can usually bring you to where the locals hang out...which in my opinion is the real athens...and the locals are SO friendly!

  • I want to visit Istanbul, I think it's a vibrant city. However, my parents have been there and said it's the most dirty city the've ever visited and people are kind only if you're willing to spend money. I would say Istanbul represents Asia and Turkey, but it also has some hints of glory from it's Greek/Byzantine and Roman past. I'll be going there next October.

  • Athens is way better it has more history, you can't get bord there. But most of the people there hate americans, same in istanbul.

  • Yea, I'm a Greek living in Canada and I've experienced a lot of racism in Athens.

  • haha yeah

  • that use to greek too lol

  • pffff fancy ha?

at least they are trying to make it look fancy...

  • Best part of Athens is when your standing on the acropolis on a 20 feet high stone pedstal, surveying the city like a statue :D

  • This is the beautiful part of Athens

  • Also he didn't say anything about the new museum of Acropolis....... however it's a great video

  • He doesn't mention it because he's British and they don't want to give back the Elgin Marbles.

  • good video, although too short to show the "new" athens. he doesn't say anything concerning the new airport, the suburb of marousi which is becoming athens new economical centre and much more.

however, it's nice and interesting, thanks for sharing!

  • cool!

  • Very good video

  • fantastic

  • good athens has changed alot...

    p.s why are ratings disabled????

  • nice video bravo!
