@thevdogamr It always pops...the latex is not strong enough to hold in any pressure against vacuum. As the balloon rises, the air pressure falls off towards vacuum.

too bad they didn't have a stablizer on it to keep it from spinning around the image isn't fixed on any point long enough to do any observations..was the video transmitted back to the ground or was the camera recovered by a gps location beacon ? too bad there wasn't a readout of the altitude as it ascended..did u have to get permission from the FAA to launch the balloon ?

Hello benwl, thanks for this video, however;

I'm planning on doing a similiar project with some friends for my school, where did you buy your weather balloon?, I'm trying to find as much I can about this INCREDIBLE kind of work, or however you can explain this.

A couple of questions;

What camera did you use to record?, VadoHD?, it feels to cheap to be able to survive through the weather conditions, air pressures etc, did you use any other equipment, like hand warmers etc?

@Mokhtar1 Interesting thing about the Camera is that it would be best to use a heat sink cooling system because at that altitude, heat does not transfer very well which usually results in the camera overheating. As for balloons, they are standard meteorological balloons and are available at any number of weather related sites.

Alright, I might have an Idea for a rotational solution. Seems like there could be 2 ways to get around it: 1 being a spherical capsule (low surface area for wind to catch) with 5 lines running in a star formation to the parachute ring.

2. pole box with modestly exposed equipment (Larger surface area to tie onto and possible natural support struts to act as a steadying mechanism.

That's just some idea I had whilst watching things like the chair in space deal.good luck in the future!
